I hear Eric Persson always charges his buy-ins to Maverick corporate. He never uses his own money to gamble and play poker. If he wins a session, he'll pay the buy-in back and pocket the rest. If he loses a session, he writes it off as a corporate expense. Either way, he never gambles with his own loot and he uses Maverick to cover his loses. I heard this from a source close to Persson, but I still find it hard to believe. Although it would explain his consistent bad play. Why bother trying to play the best poker you can, when you don't use your own money to gamble with..

if he loses debit expense credit cash, if he wins he’ll take it as an owner draw and get the winnings taxed on his personal return. it may be a little loophole-y but it’s smart
