It’s quite incredible how he creates these elaborate scenarios in his head. How he would approach her, how he would present himself in the little time he’d have, how she would feel puzzled, confused and “set up” about being asked on live telly about some joke she’d done 20 years ago etc. Being a keen observer of people and applying the Stanislavsky’s method to sketches is a big reason why The Limmy Show worked.
I think her joke was meant to be something like: I think Russell Brand had a conversation with Amy Whinehouse because he was like “They’re trying to make me go to rehab” but then he was like “nuh uh I’m gonna get that (meaning Joss Stone) before I [joss stone] turn 20.” In other words, he doesn’t want to go to rehab because he wants to sleep with Joss Stone before she turns 20. I think it’s confusing because she’s referring to herself as “I” in the first person whilst quoting Russell Brand, when she should be referring to herself in the third person when quoting someone else. That’s the only way I can make sense of it.
Brand always looked to me as a an offender type. He tried to make a pass at that so called famous youtuber when she was mid 20s, and he was in his 40s.
@@jean-lucpicard5510 idk wtf or who tf you're talking about but explain without sounding psychotic why a grown man can't flirt with a grown woman? Mid 20s? Get a fucking hold of yourself.
Thank you for trying to analyze her "joke" because I thought my English was just too bad to understand it. But seeing that you also have no f*cking clue what she's talking about makes me feel better about my English.
Thank you for the correct use of "cringe" in the title... People would say "Limmy thinks Joss Stone is so cringe" these days as if cringe is something you think or feel as opposed to something you actually do.
13:47 i worked with a woman who spoke like this, her mum was from england, but she and her siblings were brought up in glasgow. Neither sibling shares her accent, and she seems to be trying to sound posh as opposed to working class. Did my fuckin box right in.
Ali Campbell and Astro (UB40) have been saying 'big love' to us UB40 fans for decades, Ali has a song called Big Love, but it's a Jamaican/reggae thing, not an Americanism. Ooooft......her _joke_ man 😖.....it annoyed me how much it didn't make sense 😅
I think she was meant to say 'she' instead of 'he' in the line "he was all like, 'they tried to make me go to rehab'" so it's as if Amy was singing it to Russel in the joke. Which would make Russel's response sort of mean: 'If you think it's bad they're making you go to rebab NOW, I'll be at rehab before I'm 20' assuming Russel is younger than Amy
Limmy, Joss Stone is a composite creation. She was prancing around as a kid screaming the usual _"Look at me Mummy...meeeeee !!"_ and after seeing some hippies on telly thought she'd copy that, and then added the Sandie Shaw bare foot look, and whilst bawling away trying to sound like the black American singers that her dad was playing decided to ape that too. Pretty much like Kylie Minogue, there's nothing really there behind the artifice, no real character just adopted personas that morph and poach from the things and people around, you can imagine them both inhabiting the same planet that the crew of the Enterprise land on in an episode, that try to lure the hapless party into mating with them.
"And also... big love to Russell...because you know... I think he may have a conversation with Amy Winehouse and *she* [i.e. not he] was all like "They tried to make me go to rehab..." And he [Russell Brand] was like... Uh uh! [i.e. they don't need to make me] I'm gonna get there before *she* [i.e. Joss Stone] hits twenty!" [i.e. Absolute shiter.]
I always thought the phrase was "faired income." Mainly due to the way Aussies put the emphasis on the words. But also because, who the hell even knew what a damn "dinkum" even was?

Ha ha. Yeah. . .
"The Limmy Show"
When I tried uploading this when he watched it a couple of years ago the BRITs copyrighted it.
Surprisingly it's alright at the moment probably because of the amount he's pausing. I do expect it to be blocked at some point though.
@@BennysBasement so far so good
I think she just wanted to sing a bit of that song to prove how talented she was, so she shoehorned a nonsensical, namedropping joke around it.
100% that is what happened.
Yeah, Amy had come along and totally erased Joss's larping as a jazz queen
Oh god, it's a 40 minute video 😅
Was about to say I've never heard anyone say "big fun" as an American either, lol.
Not even in the "Big Apple?"
you just said it now
