I'd gotten so accustomed to seeing her as an MP, I'd forgotten how incomparably gorgeous she was. Fifty years ago, after having seen her performance as Elizabeth R on PBS, I wrote her a gushingly sycophantic fan letter, found her address somewhere in the library and sent it off. Much to my surprise, she replied. What a thrill. It's one of the enduring tragedies of my life to have lost her letter. Goodbye, Glenda. You were a wonderful woman, a brilliant artist and brave champion of justice and freedom. Thank you.

“But I’m a woman!” Exclaimed the actress who would play a triumphant King Lear in her 80s. God, she was great. Brave too, appearing with Morcombe and Wise. They worked so well together. Here and on their comedy series. Their Cleopatra sketch is still brilliant!

Dame Glenda had the ability to tackle anything she'd handle in life. I was just a toddler when she won "Women in Love"; she is the last of the surviving acting Oscar winners from 1970 to pass yesterday (06/15/2023). My sympathies to her son upon her passing and other family members. She will be missed. R. I. P. Dame Glenda.
