When I was "Set[ing] the Component Axes" of the window I got different behavior depending on slight variations in mouse movement. What is interesting is when Aaron sents his, at 7:53, it seems to do something different than what he explains. He says "red up, green to the side" but if you look close, the opposite is true. At 8:00 you can see the green axis is up and the red axis does not go up. If I make the same clicks and mouse moves as Arron all work as he intends. However, if after I click (and release) the back corner, I deviate my mouse movement (try quickly left and right), I then do get the "red up, green to the side" but the final outcome is different. (the component has a 90-degree rotation) I am not sure if this description is clear enough, but I would love to know why there are different results based on mouse movements described between clicks. AND why Arron's narration does not match what I saw in the video. Version 21.1.299
Excellent. Does that component library appear with a new project? I make wood things so I could model a 1” x 4” x 12”, make it a component and use that anytime I start a new project. Just change the dimensions to suit my needs. Is that how that works?
The component library is a part of the template so as long as you saved your model as a template then, yes, it would be a part of any new models that are created with that template!
There's a button and menu that lets you "save as a local collection". Once you do that, it will go to live in your "Components" Library and you can draw it down any time. Then use scale to change it's size instead of "Make Unique". But remember: it will keep the name you give it. So, don't make it a 1 x 4 x 12. Just make it a 1 x 4 and then it will make sense when you lengthen it to 8' long. Only "Make Unique" if you need to make an odd cut into it and it's the only one.
It was looking great when I watched you do Window cutouts using a component but for whatever reason it does not behave like this for me. My wall is 6" deep and my Window is 6" deep. However, once the component is placed on the wall, the whole where the glass windows are supposed to be is not cut out and I can see the back wall. I could fix it by creating appropriate geometry but this would defeat the purpose of moving the window around with ease... Bummer. By the way, I am on version 21 of Sketchup Pro.
Great video. I now understand glue to and cutting. Could you do a video about putting a component inside another component as a sub-component and how to manage the result
i cant believe you have uploaded so many videos but still use this awfully terrible microphone , not only that but you render your videos at the lowest volume possible. I am seriously amazed that you have been uploading for so long with the same issues and nobody bother to mention that your audio is pretty awful. Your tutorials on the other hand are exceptional. I really hope you render with louder audio
Interesting... every now and then someone pops up and mentions this. I just listened to this video against a few others and the volume level is the same on my iPhone... how are you listening? I would love to track down the issue and take care of it!
A fine tutorial, with the examples chosen all proving a succinct, specific point. Great work! Thank you!

I didn't know components could cut openings into surfaces. Useful video. 👍
Amazing couse! Great details , thank you🎉
Really nice videos Aaron!
I knew components, however, I never knew "cut" and switching shadows facing the camera. These videos are really useful. Thank you!
Very cool video - lot's of new information for me!
Great teacher! Good information!
Thanks. You make things easy 😊
👏 thank you. Not too much info, keep them coming!
Thanks Aaron. Keep it coming
Thanks Aaron, Great content as usual. Does 'Cut through' work on a full thickness 3D wall or only on a single face?
Single face, only... though there are extensions that will cut through multiple faces.

Good to know!
Thanks!

Good morning from Ireland 🍀🍀🍀
The Greatest one is you again Aareon
this almost got too deep (BUT) Aron made it easy....thanks again.
feliz dia aaron gracias por esa explicacion, de como crear componentes
Thanks!
Not too much info. Well worth it.
Cool..thanks from Mumbai
I've always wondered why sometimes I cannot pull an object off a face even when axis constraints are on. Very frustrating, now I know why.
Oh yeah! That’s a frustrating situation! I STILL forget to right click and check for Unglue
thanks
Will excessive components slow down my computer?
Poor Sumele. She's only a shadow of her former self.
Nailed it!
I wish I could Set Component Axes to girls I see in Trader Joe's, but they always run into cans when I try to talk with them.
