Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a 2024 American monster film directed by Adam Wingard. Produced by Legendary Pictures, it is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and the fifth film in the MonsterVerse franchise. It is also the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise and the 13th film in the King Kong franchise. The film stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. Hall, Henry, and Hottle reprise their roles from the previous film. In the film, Kong encounters more of his species in the Hollow Earth and must unite with Godzilla to stop their tyrannical leader and a powerful, climate-changing Titan from destroying the surface.

They could have called this "Godzilla _and_ Kong". With a film called "Godzilla _x_ Kong", they've got to at least hold hands, or that's false advertising.
lmao
It's as silly a title as Batman *v* Superman.
They literally released a TV spot called 'King Kong rides Godzilla', they're just baiting us at this point
@@fashionablechangeling1988 *Two of the most polar opposite monsters, coming together at last.*
😨😰🦖
😨😰🦍
Godzilla/Kong: "Oh, f-k you, Zack Snyder."
I mean, Kong _rides_ Godzilla. That's gotta count for something, right?
I saw this film in IMAX. The audience that I was in gave this movie a round of applause. The final battle was good, but it left me wanting more. I give this movie a 7.5 out of 10.
Crazy same s happened at mine
I like Kong and I get that he’s gonna be easier to write.
But more Godzilla equals better movie. It’s a physical law of nature.
We want Kickassia 2 and we want it now
I know people are wanting more depth after Godzilla Minus one. But I had a blast with this movie. It was so much fun, extremely dumb at times but a lot of fun.
0:01 You're right, the resemblance is uncanny. I was expecting over the top action and giant monster battles, and that's exactly what I got. It was a fun, goofy, epic time. I just wish the humans were in it less.
And ironically AVGN won that fight
"Oh, don't talk about my boxes! *I like boxes!!* "
In my opinion the action felt completely meaningless since the stakes were so low and it was just “this after that after this after that”, but go ahead and glaze it…
James/AVGN is Godzilla Doug/NC is Kong. Makes perfect sense
@@kdusel1991 Wasn't Doug's monster form a "Giant Robotic Donkey Kong Jesus Riding a Puff of Smoke?"
Godzilla X Kong does seem very AVGN vs Nostalgia Critic at times to be fair.
Excuse me while I animate past bits with Doug & James using GZ & K... xD
Anyone else get "Old Kratos vs Modern Kratos" vibes with Kong vs the Scar King? Kong has an axe and a little kid following him, then befriends a villain, while Scar King has a bladed chain whip style weapon, red coloring and a bunch of over zealous followers.
Noticed that too!
And elf when he picked up the rock and through it at the running ape trying to escape 😂
Oh absolutely
Like the God of War: Ragnarok cut scene with Old Man Kratos talking with the OG Kratos of God of War 1-3.
Hmm 🤔
Kong vs Godzilla:
Kong: WHO KEEPS PILES OF DEBRIS ALL OVER THE CITY?!
Godzilla: Oh, Don't you talk about my debris! I like ruined city debris!
Honestly!
When Godzilla and Kong first meet up in the movie I absolutely lost it when Kong was holding up his hands at Godzilla like “bro chill” and then when Godzilla attacks him he immediately hits him with the pocket sand! 💀💀
"immediately". You mean AFTER Godzilla slammed monk e through giant pyramids like a BOSS. That pink shit is gay though.
@@CorruptDemocratsJ6what?? Lol
I think they like focusing on Kong because he's a thinking creature. He's relatable because he emotes, he thinks, and interacts with the humans whereas Godzilla is just a raw, territorial force or nature. And this isn't new, they've taken this route with both creatures going all the way back to the 1962 film.
I enjoyed it, especially that first Kong/Suko fight. I got a good laugh out of that.
I'd say he's more expensive than Godzilla so that is another reason.
Godzilla definitely has shown thinking capabilities. He is just so at the peak of the planet's ecosystem, I would say he just """""vibes"""""" differently (allow me the term for the sake of simplicity).
I actually felt really bad for the first 3/4 of the movie for Godzilla.
Godzilla is alone, fighting monsters that have been dormant for millenias.
He gets called for help, he immediately starts powering up. It's a depressing perspective...and one I think the movie exposed subtly but in a very pleasant way. Kong gets a new family and reign (and I felt genuinely happy for him, really), but Godzilla at the end of the day is just...alone, in the colosseum, with mankind still not trusting him fully and trying to always portray him as the scapegoat for troubles.
His face when seeing Mothra again says everything, we have never seen Godzilla this emotionally moved in the MV. The scene hits especially hard, when thinking about the fact that the last time they say each other, they were fighting to save the world and one of them died for the other.
Apparently the director, Adam Wingard, wants to do one more of these Kong and Godzilla movies, but have it focus much more on Godzilla. Which if that happens, I’m all for it. I’m glad Kong got a lot of attention in these past films, but Goji’s more my boy. Lol
Especially with how things ended for *KING* kong in this movie, it makes a lot of sense to put the focus on Godzilla next
4:14 My thoughts exactly, Doug. I'm a huge fan of this franchise and the moment I saw the little Kong in the promo material I began to dread this movie not to mention how much they kind of kept a lot of this movie under wraps. Like I feel this movie got no media exposure cuz I forgot it was even coming out on Friday, and that made me think that they were trying to let it slide under the radar. Between that and little Kong being centric and a lot of promo material, I was scared going in. And honestly with the first song in the movie being a doo-wop, I dreaded it even more in the first minute or so. But God when things actually started panning out and little Kong wound up being a feral little bastard that Kong immediately uses as a weapon, I think I understood at that point why the promos were like they were. I think they wanted you to think it would be like that so you'd go in with lower expectations and then wind up getting completely floored and flabbergasted at the hilarious first scene little Kong is in.
Honestly I'm wondering though did you happen to notice like I did that the final fight scene had this odd cinematography to it that made it feel kind of like it was being filmed in a studio with people in suits and destructible environments? Like there was just something about the lighting and some of the camera angles that felt like old Godzilla films from the Heisei era.
Honestly with them sort of embracing the campiness of old Godzilla in the American films, And Japan embracing the deeper character of Godzilla in their own films, Godzilla fans are eating really well because we get the best of both worlds lately.
Also, Godzilla finding a napping spot in the middle of the Roman Colosseum has to be the greatest thing I've ever seen. "If it fits, I sits".
Overall, I thought this movie was good. 7/10.
Pros
-CGI was amazing.
-Exploring the Hollow Earth was cool.
-Gia was good.
-I liked Kong’s story and his relationship with Suko.
-Skar King was a good addition to the villain roster.
Cons
-Humans were passable, but not great.
-The movie could’ve been 5-10 minutes longer.
-Not enough of Godzilla or other Titans.
-Final battle and ending went too fast.
-Skar King and Shimo didn’t feel like a world ending threat.
The last point I don't mind much, we all know how more threatening some of the established monsters are, Destroyah? Yeah, King Ghidorah is way more threatening than Scar, but again, that's perfectly fine, no need to be always a step up.
@@xxvaltielxx1789 True. But he could’ve reached up to Ghidorah’s level. I think of Skar King killed some established Titans like Behemoth and maybe Rodan, and sealed the portal behind him and Shimo, forcing them to come through another portal, and doing more cold damage to the Earth. And as a funny bonus, he destroys the statue of Jesus in Rio and stands in place of it.
I’m hoping that Godzillas powering up wasn’t for scar king and shimo but for the next movie…in fact Godzilla didn’t even seem to know or care scar king and shimo were causing trouble in the hallow earth
@@Soulreaper-1129 I personally think that he was powering up because he thought he would have to fight them alone. But then King kong gave him a solution he didn't expect and godzilla was just over leveled for a co-op run.
@@HKtraidon that’s actually a good way of putting it, well I’ve heard Wingard stated that he’s got plans for a third film that would be more Godzilla centered so that’s why I had that theory but again that a good explanation
Kong was all, "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad!"
Also... Is Doug aware that the one doopy lizard that stole Kong's food early on is named Titanus Doug?
0:53
Kull: Skong Island....
Love that you kept it in
The divide between critics and audiences seems to keep growing with this series. It's like the reincarnation of 'Transformers.'
The part with Kong's robo hand grabbing the pyramid brought me right back to the balls scene from Transformers 2
As a goji fan. This is how he works best. He’s a walking disaster meant to be unknowable unlike kong who the lovable underdog
Goji?
@@ShazeemKhan Gojira. Aka. Godzilla. It is just the a different version of writing godzilla
@@reksraven ohhhhhh never knew that, Gojira is the JDM version?
@@ShazeemKhan I dunno what you mean with the JDM version that acronym doesn't tell me that much.
But gojira is just the original name of Godzilla.
@@reksraven JDM: Japanese Domestic Market. An acronym (mostly) used for car made for local Japanese consumption. I just "retrofitted" the term here, hope it clears it up. I meant no disrespect, nor was I being snarky. I honestly was unaware of "Gojira". I grew up with Godzilla
0:00 It's like he knew Doug personally XD
Kong aged rapidly between movies. It's like looking at Hugh Jackman between first X-Men movie and Logan, which doesn't make much sense.
Doug should do an Monster-Verse Month. Monthster-Verse, Monthster Month or Monster-Month. And review all the Godzilla and King Kong films.
I mean, why not?
I'd be down to it.
This would be really cool. He could do sets of movies. Start with the Lengendary movies then the serious Gojira movies (Godzilla '54, The Return of Godzilla, Shin Godzilla, Godzilla: Minus-one), then Godzilla adjacent Kaiju movies (Mothra, Rodan, Gamera, etc.)
Idk. Maybe we can see what the crew can do once GxK comes out fully wouldn't you agree?
Only if James is in it too.
That would take more than a month
I basically knew what I was getting myself into, when seeing the trailers and such, especially with the other Monsterverse films that were released previously. And even then, it feels like the director knew what audiences and Godzilla fans wanted to see, from a Kaiju brawler like this, you basically know from the trailer you’re not getting something as dark and heartbreaking as Minus One, but if it’s giant monsters fighting and destroying stuff, you’re getting what you paid for in terms of spectacle. And for what it’s worth, GXK delivered ten fold on the monster action, considering there’s several monsters going around in the movie, not just the title characters.
This film reminds me of that movie Peter Griffin pitched in that one Family Guy episode about Jaws teaming up with the fisherman to take down a bigger Jaws.
"Oh my god, we have a common we need to work together"
i love that RPG analogy lol he really was off power-leveling for the final boss fight the whole movie while Kong was on an epic quest
And of course people are already trying to compare this to Godzilla Minus One a completely different animal considering Godzilla Minus,One supposed to be thought provoking you know post-war Japan and the other one is just pure popcorn entertainment.
they could've given us pure popcorn if they focused on the monsters. wwho cares about them people. i surely didn't.
Stop it, it's pathetic logic.
You can have a good popcorn movie with great writing...but in Monsterverse the writing is just always bad.
With your logic, why they cancel Pacific Rim 3...the second one was fully entertaining with many robots and kaiju...why the critics hated....DUHHH the writing was bad
Ah yes, that Godzilla film that has 15min of Godzilla in it and it's focused on the drama of war.
@@giannisksanthopoulos4300 it’s not pathetic logic lol, these are two completely different godzillas with two completely different tones.
It was good, but I would have liked to see more Godzilla.
Spoiler alert:
I was really hoping that Godzilla was going to be the one to kill Scar King. So I was disappointed with that.
In my own opinion: this movie was stupid, but, stupid enough for me to enjoy it! Especially the scene where kong is using the baby Ape as a weapon to fight the other Apes 😂💀
I didn't notice the irony between Godzilla vs King Kong and Nostalgia Critic vs AVGN until you brought it up, Doug ( 0:00 - 0:13 ). 😅
That is not irony, it is a coincidence, or it could be homage
They missed an excellent opportunity for Kong to sign "Save... Mothra!"
I swear, when MechaGodzilla appeared in the last film, that would’ve been a great opportunity for Mothra to appears like Wonder Woman in BvS
For me it was Dumb fun movie, has it's goofy and action moments to leave you satisfied. The humans are meh with a few good scenes, liked the monster moments (main reason why I watched them) how they interact without the need of dialogues.
I really liked Kong in this one, seems that every movie he gets smarter and adapts to the situations at hand. Showing sympathy and seriousness when it needs to.
I said it before and I'll say it again. It is good time to be a Kaiju Fan
Godzilla X Kong is Hobbs & Shaw with monsters and even dumber 😅
To be fair, your going to see a movie where a giant ape and a giant lizard fight another giant ape and giant lizard. If you're expecting anything smart coming out of this film then you don't know what kind of movie this is. XD
@sarcasticdude2320dumbest?
Fun popcorn film! I watched it this morning. It's definitely not a film that takes itself too seriously.
Saw it a few hours ago it was alright didn't love it didn't hate it, it was just......fine. Just desperate for a Blu-ray release of Minus One
This flick is perfection for the point the monsterverse is now, it delivers what was promessed and even more. This is exactly what a Monster movie should be. Godzilla might be a second class saga, it will never be a star wars, but in its particular shelf of genre, in 70 years the king never dissapoints and it keeps getting better. BRAVO!
Definitely feels like the film would work with no dialogue. Genndy Tartakovsky would've made a great director for it.
After having watched this movie earlier today, I'm STILL shook by how good it was.
My jaw fell so many times, it's a miracle didn't unclip from my jaw and fall into my popcorn
I have finished watching Godzilla x Kong. Oh my god, I just cannot describe how happy I am with the movie. Every single thing is on point. Every single minute of the movie is totally worth it. Thank you for not disappointing the Kong and Gojira fans. I want more movies with Godzilla and Kong.
Had tons of fun. Felt like a mix of avatar with the visuals and the exploring of the hollow earth, it was a treat.
Thought myself the human characters weren't that bad, i particular really liked dan stevens the titan dentist, loved the li'l girl. Granted, the theorist guy felt had nothing, his story - much like milly brown - ended in zilla vs kong.
but the scenes of the titans were amazing, the story telling just through visuals and facial expressions was exquisite. You could perfectly follow king kong's story without any dialogue.
Scar king was indeed a good manacing villain, different than i expected though, more like starscream a more backstabbing, sceaming villain. He weren't the strongest, not the biggest, but he had these filthy tricks up his sleeve. Overal i had a great time and it pretty much was the perfect flic for me. Though i cannot see how there be more to come, this very so felt like an epic finale to the series. The story, the war for hollow earth it's pretty much resolved now.
Aah well, we'll see i geuss.
'be watching this one again soon.
The baby Kong was basically the baby Yoda effect, but they did give us an amazing scene right off the bat for people who hate the cute little monster trend. I think that made it all worth it. Also when you get to watch it again, Rebecca Hall as the mom of Gia is acting her ass off in this movie. She really deserves some credit for how well that relationship was portrayed.
Godzilla turned purple and the white ice titan became Kong's puppy, loved it! :D
"Koll Skung Island" gave me a bit of a chuckle I'm not gonna lie.
The lack of awe and fear from the humans is what’s missing in these films!
To be fair there was still a lot of that in King of the Monsters but by this last movie the world has been aware of Titans for around a decade so it's kind of expected they react more rationally to these giant creatures now.
The animation for the monsters was fantastic. So much emotion and personality from Skar King and Kong without a single word spoke.
I saw it yesterday for my birthday, which is Saturday lol. And as a big Godzilla fan, I really enjoyed it. While King of the monsters and the first Godzilla versus Kong are my personal favorites of the monster verse, this was definitely my third favorite film of the franchise. The human characters were pretty all right and like Doug said, gia, the mute girl was the best acted human in the story and all the others were pretty all right. The monsters were awesome, the action was amazing, and I love how much personality they put on Kong and it's definitely his story. And this may be just me, but I think with the little Kong that's involved in the movie, that's going to move into a son of Kong film. And the scar king, I'd have to watch it again and really examine him to say if he's a good villain, but he was definitely a better villain than mechagodzilla was in the last one. I personally can't wait to see what the monster verse comes up with next because I'm eagerly anticipating any and all films of this franchise
I’m thinking if they do another Godzilla & Kong movie I think they should do an entire film with just the monsters but have it entirely be a visual storytelling with no dialogue, no humans, and just that.
I thought Shimo was cool :)
It felt like a martial arts movie, to me at least.
Kong is the lone warrior who comes across a group of bandits, beats them down, and has the child bandit lead him back to the kingdom run by a mad king. He loses badly and has to call upon an old rival to team up and overthrow the tyrant and stop his conquest
The villain even being called "Scar" was pushing it into TLK 😂🦁
So... it's a mess... but a fun mess?
If you go for a deep story with very profound characters, you won't get it. But it's a fun monster kaiju movie with lots of entertaining moments. Frankly like Doug says, what really misses are like 10 minutes to better settle everything.
Honestly I thought the pacing in this was very good. The humans and Kong plots overlapping with one another allowed them to do a lot of things. Gia got a great arc, the other humans were fun and had their own individual reactions to Hollow Earth, the Skar King backstory set up the stakes well, Kong got to find and stop the horrors of Skar’s reign and completed his character arc of finding his family…
What’s there to complain about?
Was kinda starting to hope for Skar King to get a villain song, Be Prepared style 😂
Kong is public domain, they can do whatever they wish with him, Godzilla however is a owned by toho... makes sense they make a "kong" movie and let godzilla aside
Kong’s not public domain. James Rolfe made a video on the subject around the time Kong Skull Island, Universal owns the character but they licensed him to Legendary for the Monsterverse
Happy Good friday guys❤️🙏
Same to you! That's a lot of fish.

This is just a human movie, monsters are so short it's sucks and feels like a scam.
With how nonsensical the hollow earth physic is, you kind of need a scientist to give a bs explaination to explain to the audience what's going on
I really thought they could have made the villain look cooler. I don’t like how he just looks like a skinny Kong. The frost dinosaur was cool though
Took the franchise 90 years, but they finally made a good King Kong movie with a kid Kong.
I think this movie found the perfect mish mash between epic kaiju cgi hero vs villain along side human plot. There werent too much humans or useless humans, it was just the right size amount of humans. Everybody had important role and it was enough. Idk if I would last 2:30 hr with just kong not talking but his parts in the movie were amazing and you were getting emotional towards the big guy. Godzilla was also in this movie and was stacking monsters left and right. I liked how they evolved the world and just went through with the nonsense. Yes there a lot kaiju on earth and godzilla has a purpose - superhero kaiju of earth. Then kong with his world building - amazing. I think it was the best our of the gozilla/kong verse movies, I had so much fun at the cinema, we got what we wanted finally and I hope other franchises learn how to make films about cgi heroes - im looking at you transformers, study this film
I didnt like the villain. He felt like a bitch, Like he tried to talk shit but couldn't do anything without the ice lizard titan. I feel like that kind of ruined the enjoying monster fight because he felt like a jobber. I didn't like everything else. I felt The dentist thing was dumb, The stuff where kong is by himself with Boy was interesting. I wanted more Godzilla fighting instead of one shotting. Also I didnt like How the Ice titan went from hating captivity to basically being domesticated again was lame.
Does this movie have a Post credit scene if it does i Will like it but if it doesn't than no
Awesome review dude! 👏🏽👏🏽My son and I watched the movie and he absolutely loved it! We also did a reaction/ SPOILER review if you can give us a view we’d really appreciate it 💙
Watched this on a lark today as i rarely ever get to watch movies period
I liked it. Compared to minus one it was story poor as far as humans go, but it's worldbuilding rich. Loving hollow earth. Never saw the prev three films lol
I love Kong being firmly a gentle giant who loves himanity in this iteration
I actually really liked kong skull Island it's probably the only one where I actually care about the humans ans not just one of them
I'm glad to hear someone who doesn't hate these movies
Me at 25 and my 14 year old brother had an amazing time here! Its a massive improvement to what James Rolfe complaint about 2014 Godzilla movie. Minus the lack of the theme, especially Godzilla 😢
It's much better than i expected and glad it was under 2 hours, good human characters... especially the young girl!
Scar King was nice 👌
Love that the fights are heavily focused on and dont cut away to the humans bullshit like the 2 Godzilla movies ❤ they listened to our complaints!! And the MONSTERS FIGHT IN DAY LIGHT 😮
7.5/10 for me
Happy good Friday
The X is a japanese thing. You read it as "cross" and it denotes a collaboration between two franchises or parties
"Does this have an after credits sequence?"
_phone cannot get signal_
_literally all but two people leave the theater_
"Yeah, at least some of these people have checked. There's no after credits sequence."
I think the way they're going about it is fine as with Toho continuing their Godzilla franchise I think having him as a secondary character to Kong is good enough. Though with additional characters thrown in now I could see something like Destroy all monsters or something be used instead of Godzilla x Kong
Best one so far
You had to watch the TV series. Thats the missing bit you were feeling. That explains alot and whats going on in the word. While that focused on the people and world this was the monsters story
I wanna see an edit where Godzilla has the AVGN fit and Kong has the Nostalgia Critic drip
Hi
cant wait 4 James’ review
My brother really likes these movies but after 20 years of nothing but Godzilla I’m tired of seeing this damn lizard
Every time i see Kong and suko
I just see kratos and BOY
This wasn't a bad movie imo. It was pretty fun and engaging enough and I really enjoyed the character who will become "Mighty Joe Young" as well. I will say, it does not compare to Godzilla Minus One, not even close. I would say the difference between the two are one is fine dining and the other, Dave and Busters. That being said, still fun and worth the price of admission!✌🏿👍🏿
I never watch Godzilla for the humans. Its always for the big guy.
If the humans are good, thats just a bonus.
You don't pronounce the × in the title. It's like the manga Hunter × Hunter, you pronounce it as "Hunter Hunter" so this would be "Godzilla Kong".
We need a Primal Rage movie.
I dobt know, I found that I like all the human characters in this unlike the other films, but I do agree that the talking parts were an after thiught and that it dies tend to overthink all the time
It was great film watched it to see the monsters fight i like the team up. Hoping for more in this universe.
It was equally as HORRIBLE as GVK! But yeah, Kong and Jia are the highlights of these atrocious movies.
I went for Big Giants Monsters go Brrrrr and I got what I was promised XD
Verified without any likes and replies.... Oh my favci
4:10 Felt gimmicky since King of the Monsters brought in Eleven as a MC.
5:55 In my experience, "Name1 x Name2" is shorthand for either romance or sex.
7:01 I smell a future FanScription? 7:20 Is the comic relief that same conspiracy theory podcaster from the last movie? He sucked!
I'll say here what I said in the comments under MovieBob's review: I don't get what this line of movies is going for. Serious Messaging or big-n-dumb blockbuster entertainment? The 2 aspects conflict with each other than work together. And I feel as if we're only seeing the tail end of a much larger story, with this secret history of the world with giant monsters. For that matter, why do they care about us humans? Most of the ones we see in these movies are dumb!
So I love Godzilla in its own right- but no post-credits scene is that tiny quirk that pushes me to an even happier state.
I can’t wait to watch this movie 🎥 & as always great review Doug
Godzilla X Kong living in a tree K I S S I N G!
Hey Nostalgia Critic, can you please do the Angry German Kid vs Jovi Parts 1-2 and the Angry German Kid and the Ice Cream Truck by Jeeves476!
What I liked about this movie:
- The Relationship with Kong & the Kid Kong
- The Epic Final Battle
- Mothra's return (I literally did not see that coming, so good job with that one, movie)
- Dan Steven & Bryan Tyler Henry's characters (Yeah, I thought they both kinda worked well with each other)
-That one jerk military character got killed off halfway through the middle. Usually, we'd have to wait for the climax in a movie like this for a character to get his comeuppance, so that kinda subverted my expectations.
Dear Doug, you're not alone with comparing Kong and Suko with Kratos and Atreus in the 2018 God Of War gams. WatchMojo 5 Best & Worst Things About This Movie video also brings it up.
The Millie Brown character and Julian Dennison character.. I was happy they were out of this one and also Kyle Chandler.... This movie was better than G.V.K.... but so not better than Minus One ❤
I liked a lot. The humans weren't as tedious as in the others, not perfects (except the mother and the girl, they we're pretty good) but are likable.
The Kong story was fun and well done but, as you mention, the godzilla side story was more like a sidequest cutscene for the main battle, but it wasn't boring at all.
An excellent popcorn movie if you like watching Giant monsters beating the s#¡t out of them.
8/10 in the Serizawa Scale
Haven't seen this yet but the Diddy may also be a bit of an omage to older Godzilla. Yes..Manilla was a THING and a MISTAKE..but there was also a young Godzilla that he came across and it stuck with him for a few movies. The big payoff was in Godzilla VS. Destroyah where big G was undergoing an atomic meltdown and Destroyah starts to attack on top of that. By this movie, young godzilla is essentially that, a young adult godzilla who doesnt look quite as big or mutated as the O.G. he gets STRAIT UP MURDERED by Destroyah! It ceeates this really sad sene with Godzilla clearly affected and he doesnt even technically get his vengence since rhe humans finish Destroyah off. Godzilla does die as promised in the trailers but the resulting explosion causes his essence to revive Godzilla Jr. who mutates that last strp to appear more like his "Dad" and finishing off that era with a passing of the atomic torch.
I wonder how much Japan and Hollywood communicated with each other regarding this movie and Minus One. Perhaps this movie has less Godzilla because they didn't want audiences to get "Godzilla fatigue", as if that actually exists.
Surprise there's no untitled review of the new Ghostbusters movie.
Might be later or anytime while Doug is taking care of his health, honestly.
yeah his health is more important.@@AshParth560
It's kinda weird... coming off of the epic & continuous highs of Godzilla -1 to have a movie that's a sequel to Godzilla v Kong but with such a ridiculous title and looks like the neon fx went into overdrive. The marketing doesnt do much for the movie that's for certain. And though I've yet to see it, due to the mixed messages between the marketing plus oh, the big bad is a smaller gorilla and Kong gotta go partially mecha... for some reason. To hearing a mixed review here and others say they like it better than v Kong because at least humans aren't at fault (which, seeing as humans being at fault in v Kong led to Mechagodzilla, Im not sure why thats considered a bad thing); but I digress. Im curious to see how I feel about it someday... but it might be a wait until its at Redbox. Meanwhile, on the otherhand, Im not sure when or if Ill have another opportunity to watch -1 in the States again (as the availability seems up in the air); but Im eagerly awaiting a potential time to get both versions of that (-1 & -1 - color); and rewatch that (hopefully with subs yet again as well!)
The x in the title is silent, it’s pronounced Godzilla, Kong: The New Empire
5/10 for this movie.
For me was awful just like the previous Godzilla an Kong movie
I think your last comment said it best for me, Doug: humans were passable, but the monsters were great and that’s all I care about. Heck, even the humans occasionally had a good scene here and there (mostly the ones about Jia, the mute girl who communicates with Kong). Overall, while I think the last movie was a better movie, I still had a good time with this current movie. 6 out of 10 mechanical gloves for me. 😂
