glad to see you posting more content bro! i've been loving it, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels, keep up the great work! also im not a big card game rpg guy, definitely given baten kaitos a go u won't be disappointed!
I’ve said it before here but give rune factory a try, specifically 4. The game isn’t short but doesn’t require long game sessions to make progress. Perfect for when you have an hour here or there. Or in between larger jrpgs
Regarding the Rune Factory section of the video (keep in mind that I have no knowledge on Harvestella's mechanics), I'd say it's a good mix of a farm sim and fantasy action RPG where one helps out the other like the social sim and RPG sections of Persona 3-5. My personal favorite is 4, though I may be a bit biased because RF4 is my favorite game. I don't really recommend the Switch port of RF5 because it has some glaringly noticeable performance issues (frame dips, music still being loud after turning the in-game volume for it down, visual bugs like the screen turning entirely red and object assets turning entirely black for a bit, among others), but I still think it's fun. Fairly good for short pick-up-and-play sessions if you're wanting something to do or for longer playtimes when you get really invested.
It's a shame about the technical issues, because from the trailers, I really enjoy the visual aesthetic of the game. I'll give it a shot one of these days.
I bought p5t but haven't played it yet. Only completed the first Baten Kaitos game, I bought sea of stars and super mario rpg around the time I got about 3hr into the second game. I'm waiting for a price drop for Fae Farm. Absolutely adored Rise of the third power and RF5. RF3 I only played a little bit. Haven't got around to buying Digimon Survive. Recently bought Digimon World new order and haven't started it yet. Barely played death end re:quest or Fairy Fencer F advent dark force 😢. Got pretty far in Eastward, prob will go back to it eventually. And I'm currently playing and absolutely loving Sea of Stars ❤
Hoo Boy, have a got a backlog of jrpg's on Steam I have yet to play... I'll just say 10 of them for now. Agarest, Ara Fell, Brave Battle Saga, Chrono Cross, Cosmic Star Heroine, Death end re;Quest as well!, Diofield Chronicle, Dusk Diver, Edge of Eternity, Final Fantasy IV. I have a lot more but I'll have to save those for the next time you do a video like this.
Niiice. I can personally vouch for the goodness of Ara Fell, Chrono Cross, and FFIV (I played a bit of Cosmic Star Heroine and I was enjoying it, but it fell victim to me being distracted and also coming out at a time when I wasn't playing games as regularly).
My black log feels impossible now its worse how I play a few hrs then just stop and never seem to get around to going back. Star ocean second story is the one I keep going to play but don’t I’m about 10hrs in and have no idea why I don’t play it just to many games to keep up 😅
Just want to say thank you for reminding to pick up Eastward! Just checked Steam and it’s on sale! Thank you sir. Also, excellent list & good luck with the back log! 🤝
Not gonna lie, I should do one of these videos since my Switch JRPG backlog is enormous, and I still haven't touched the majority of them. Great video man!
A few of these are also on my backlog: The ones I have played is RF 5 which I enjoyed as my first Rune Factory but it has framerate issues on Switch and it does have more of a focus on Farming. Death end re;Quest is easily one of the best stories I've played and the combat is quite unique, both Idea Factory and Compile Heart do have a certain reputation but if you enjoyed the darker tones of Mary Skelter Nightmares then Death end re;Quest is a great pick. Though I haven't played many games from both studios they tend to lean into the Light and Fluffy with a heavy dose of Fan Service usually not with great or thought provoking narratives. The Mary Skelter and Death end re;Quest series fill that void while still offering Light and Fluffy and Fan Service moments but that isn't the focus, what is however is telling a great story and I think they pull it off.
@@JustTheGems Same. The 1st took longer to beat then I expected and now that I've finished Unicorn Overlord I'm continuing my run of Mary Skelter 2. It offers some mind blowing story beats early on that hits hard for those who played Nightmares first. And the OST is another hit even the Tutorial music is great.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who amasses actual series of games in my backlog without having finished any of them. I forget if you’ve mentioned playing Chained Echoes yet, but if not, you should definitely add it to the backlog of shame.
Oh yeah, I own it digitally, but I also preordered the physical copy from what is increasingly seeming like it was a scam company. It's been AGES and they haven't announced that it's coming any time soon... So I'm just gonna have to give up and play it digitally. Which is fine, but I mean, it would've been nice to get the copy I ordered...😭
@@JustTheGems I almost 100% chained echoes. I have 1 or 2 things left in that game, but it's so worth it IMO. If that physical turns out to be legit, I'll order that as well.
I felt very seen here. Love your content, you are probs my favourite Switch/ RPG youtuber! Fellow fake gamer here, I have all the Trails games in shrinkwrap, plus the Rune Factories, Digimon and too many others... but why play a new game when I can replay games from my childhood :D
@@JustTheGems I just bought Trails of the Sky for Steam Deck, seems like the ‘best’ starting point and the only place to play? Hoping I actually get around to playing it soon and popping my Trails cherry 😂
I have Eastward and Sea of Stars in my backlog also, but I don't know when I'm going to get it in because I'm still on Unicorn Overlord and playing some MLB the Show and then Hundred Heroes will come out, and I still never got through the last of the Triangle strategy story. Still haven't beaten LOTZ 2. I just don't have the time I wish I had to complete the games with kiddos and other priorities.
A big problem is that games are just so freaking LONG. Like, back in the day, JRPGs were 25, 30 hours, and those were the LONG ones. Everything has to be at least "100 hours of gameplay!!!" and I gotta tell you, I just don't have the lifespan to get to all these......
@@JustTheGems This is the reason I still have yet to even buy any of the 3 xenoblade chronicles. I know I would love all 3, but I hear that it can be 100 hours to complete, and knowing my completionist tendencies, that means more like 150 hours each if not more. I 100% LoZ BotW, and I plan to do the same with the second one, but I haven't even started yet because I know how much of a time suck that is.
Rise of the third power is soooooooo good! Play it my dude! It's one of my favorite games of the past decade. Sea of stars is really fun man. Hope you play it soon.
Can positively vouch for Rise of the Third Power! Never played Arafell, so no point of comparison there. But it definitely feels like a long lost SNES/early PS1 RPG. There is literally no grinding, battles rely way more on knowing your characters moves and how to put together a party. Tanking plays a surprisingly big role, and you have a few different flavors of it. If you do not have your tanks surviving, you will probably die very quickly. The characters are also just lovely and have good reasons to be with you and for what they do. Everyone has emotional depth, no one is a throwaway character. The story/tone overall takes itself seriously but of course has lighter moments. The music is very nice as well! I’d highly recommend it. Same kinda vibes I got from Chained Echoes.
@@JustTheGems Aww no you haven’t played Chained Echoes yet either? I’m sure you would absolutely love it, and Rise of the Third Power as well. I’d throughly enjoy to see videos from you on those games in due time. Especially Rise, I hardly see anyone talk about it and it deserves more love. I was so happy to see it in your thumbnail lol. You know you put it there above all the others for a reason, your subconscious is telling you to play it lol.
I bought Persona 5 Tactica, I stop for wait because I want to start over - I needed to learn more about it's mechanics. I have played several of the Runs Factory games, they do have some challenges you may like, my 35 year son a big gamer, liked these games - he told me I would like them.
Honestly, I'd still recommend Harvestella even then. (Can't speak to Rune Factory, haven't played those yet.) Harvestella is like 90% action RPG and 10% farming. It's far from a focus, so I think you'll find enough to love outside of the farm elements to keep you enjoying yourself.
My list of switch Backlog JRPGs: Ys VIII Ys IX Persona 5 Persona 5 Tactica Valkyrie Chronicles 4 Xenoblade 2 Xenoblade 3 Neo: The World Ends With You Harvestella Nier Automata All trails games (on Sky SC at the moment) Triangle Strategy Fire Emblem: Three Houses Atelier Ryza No No Kuni (1&2) Chained Echoes Dragon Quest XI Bravely Default 2 DisgaeA 5 Super Mario RPG Sea of Stars There’s more…
Persona5t is very much Mario & Rabbits spin-off, which was just a X-Com spin-off. There are things I do not like about Sea of Stars, which is sometimes it is hard to tell where to go. I have a hard copy not opened, but ...
Don’t worry Brandon, I am right there with you. I still haven’t played Persona 5 or FF XVI. It’s depressing. However, I started making a real dent in my backlog recently. I was feeling overwhelmed with decision paralysis and so decided to play 1 game from each letter of the alphabet! It’s been working great so far and have already finished 8 games so far in 2024! However since the trails series is also my favorite I completely support playing through them again! I can’t get enough of those games! 😊
@@JustTheGems Omg yes, that would be awesome! You can definitely steal the idea! I’ve had to come up with some additional criteria as I’ve gone through. If there is a game that comes out that I really want to play I’ll skip to that letter, to avoid spoilers, and then jump back to where I was in the alphabet. Also if I come across a letter that doesn’t have any games, I fill it with any game of my choice. Let me know how it works out 🤗
Hi Brandon! Well... no worry if I would list all the games I own that I still need to play/finish you would not fell as bad lol Like I did not finish any Persona, Trails of or Xenosaga, just to name a few... As for you, I have to tell you that indeed Rune Factory have a lot of farming, I would compare it with Stardew valley, but I would say there is more combat and also a lot of crafting if your into that!
Yeah, I think the combat and setting would help me in Rune Factory. I did enjoy Stardew Valley, but I don't think I'd want to play a lot of straight farming sims myself.
My backlog is disgusting, built up of years and years of buying for a rainy day and not playing over several console generations now including a slew of SFC and Sega Saturn games we never got in the west. Luckily, not a ton interests me nowadays, and I have a strict rule of no physical, no buy (or play) so my backlog doesn't seem to be growing so much as it was, say, 8 or so years ago.. I also love to do things like buying Like a Dragon 7 since it finally seemed like a great place to jump into the series only to have a ton of people recommend playing at least Zero first since it will make LaD 8 even better since Kiryu comes back. Sooooo, backlogged till I get Zero and decide to play that. I spent the better part of the last couple years playing through Trails from Zero all the way through Kuro 2, so I knocked them out and am caught up and it feels great. Of what you have, I also have Sea of Stars on my list. On a whim, I bought Triangle Strategy and have been slowly working through that, but I'm really digging it! I guess those other games will have to keep waiting...
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Triangle Strategy - I have that in my collection, but I haven't gotten to it yet. But from what I've heard, it's supposed to be good, so I'm glad to get additional confirmation of that!
Haha, I always assumed that one would be more fun multiplayer, since that's kinda how they designed it. At least for parts. I have the cart sitting around here somewhere...
Glad to know i’m not the only one with a big backlog 😅😄 It’s funny, I was never the biggest Digimon fan (I loved the mon designs but wasn’t like a stan for Digimon) but Survive does peak my interest 🤔 My embarrassing backlog are for these games below 😂 ⬇️ 1. Tales of Arise (Have the fancy collectors edition for the PS4 but I have just not found enough time to just sit down and dive in, I love the Tales if series, I just need to dive in) 2. Mother 3 (Had no interest in Mother or Mother 2/Earthbound, I think it’s because I didn’t grow up on the peanuts aesthetics, but everything that I have learned about Mother 3 really interests me from the research I have done and from clips i’ve seen) 3. Muramasa Rebirth/Demon Blade (I LOVE Odin Sphere on the PS4/3/Vita I have tried every other Vanillaware game, all accept Muramasa and now Unicorn Overlord yet none if the others reached the hype Odin Sphere did for me but really excited to play Muramasa Rebirth soon since I love the vibe its going for) 4. Golden Sun 1 & 2 (I started playing Golden Sun 1 and was loving it but got caught up playing other games at the time but really want to get back to Golden Sun 1 & 2) 5. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 & Torna - The Golden Country (Listen, I ADORE Xenogears, played Xenosaga and hated it, played Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, while the story was good it was very 100% completion unfriendly which unfortunately for me, turns me off of a lot of games, I have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in my backlog because I love the character designs and loved the window feel I got while playing Smash Ultimate, gunna give XC2 & Golden Country a chance but XC1 just didn’t vibe with me) 6. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (I wanna dive into this one so bad, on paper it’s everything I wanna from a DBZ JRPG that we didn’t get during the PS2 gen….. outside of that fever dream Saga 😅) 7. WrestleQuest (I adore this concept but it doesn’t have a physical yet) 8. Sea of Stars (Sea of Stars was not really on my radar because despite what folks say…. It’s hard for me to believe something will match Chrono Trigger but there has been a mountain amount of hype built up so I gotta play it) 9. Tunic (I LOOKS ADORABLE and I need to know more 😅) 10. Anno Mutationem (I was late to the party on this one but love its PS1 vibe its going for) 🩵🍻
I can definitely vouch for some of these (Tales of Arise and XBC2/Torna/Anno Mutationem). I've had a translated copy of Mother 3 for ages, but I keep putting off playing it because I think, the moment I do, they're going to announce an official English release. And of course, that'll never actually happen, but trying to convince my brain of that is a losing battle. My friend Paige really loves Kakarot, I know, she's raved about it, so it comes highly recommended.
I have so many games ive never played, and even more i've played 2-5 hours and then never went back. I usually just add them to my wishlist and know ill never play them even if i did buy them
Yeah, I stopped asking for games for Christmas/birthday, because I just know they're only going to go on the stack. Any game I want to play RIGHT NOW, I'm buying right now anyway.
Let's just say that my backloggery numbers are insane. The games I own but haven't gotten to are in the triple digits. I literally forbade myself jumping into the current gen of consoles until I bring my backlog to single digits. As a person with a steady job and hobbies outside of gaming, I'll likely get a PS5 by the time PS7 drops.
I purchased both Arafell and Harvestella on your recs. Have I touched them yet? No. But I’m ready for the eventual physical copy collapse with my growing collection. Eventually.
And hey, once you have them, you HAVE them, and you always can play them when you get the urge. That's how I think of my stuff, it's basically a library that I can access whenever.
Interesting list of games🤔 As someone who’s played fairy fencer F advent dark force multiple times, I can honestly say it’s a good game at its core. Quirky and a bit weird very different and with some depth to the mechanics that I was not expecting. Fan service yes but nothing unsavory, fun characters and decent music at least for my personal tastes. I personally paid more for the fairy fencer then I should have 🥶 however I don’t regret my decision at all. ( unlike buying the death end request games) despite many people giving high praise to death end request I did not enjoy ether game at all even after a good 5 hours in each game I was just not hooked intrigued or even remotely interested in any of the characters. Might I recommend a game called unsighted it might be a game worth checking out Played the demo for sea of stars and loved it❤ however I just have not felt like playing the full game for some reason?? Not sure why🤔 Baten kaitos was a game I was looking forward to for a long time as I had played the original and was thrilled to see it coming back, however for me personally it was a disappointment. 10 hours in and I put it down and have not touched it sense. ( I’m sure it’s a good game I think? However it’s not for me) The rest I can’t comment on as I have never played them, I have persona 5 tactica and rune factory 4 however I have not played ether yet
It's interesting hearing people's thoughts on Death end request and Fairy Fencer, there are basically two camps it seems -- those that like Fairy Fencer and dislike Death end request, and those that like Death end request and dislike Fairy Fencer! 😅 I'll have to jump into both and see which camp I fall into.
@@JustTheGems Yep that sums it’s up nicely actually, I keep going back to death end re quest to figure out why I’m not liking it🤔 so far am not having much luck… I mean if this pirate likes games like bloodrayne 🤔 I should enjoy death end request right?
Fae Farm doesn't have couch co-op, only online. It's cute but it's very bare bones and feels like it's missing certain things for sure. I didn't feel like doing anything after I finished the story. Rune Factory 4 is the best one in the series, in mine and many other people's opinion. 3 is cute but has less QOL features, and I never played 5 but a lot of people found it to be a step down in quality. There's more farming than Harvestella, but you can still do a good amount of battling. I'm actually currently playing Harvestella and really enjoying it! Next up for me is P3 Reload 😊
That's really good to hear for sure about Fae Farm, we'll just have to sit down and see if we like it. Glad to hear you're playing Harvestella, that always makes me happy when more people give that game a shot!
@@JustTheGems You and a few others rated Harvestella so highly it made me check it out, and I definitely haven't been disappointed! I'm 55 hours in haha!
As a Digimon fan, Digimon Survive was disappointing not because the gameplay was bad, but because the story wasn't great. It just felt lackluster and I was left with very little reason to want to play through the other routes.
@@JustTheGems Yeah. If I remember correctly, there are like five endings in Digimon Survive and it's impossible to get the true ending the first time around. I did one and a half endings before giving up, which says a lot because I DEFENDED Digimon Survive right up till release.
It's always interesting to me how Idea Factory and Compile Heart are often viewed to be the same. Granted, with how much the western RPG community utterly despises both companies, I can't say I'm surprised nobody cares to make that distinction. And to be fair, Compile Heart is Idea Factory's subsidiary so both logos are going to appear together most of the time. But to me, I've always held them as being two pretty different developers in terms of their games. For instance, Idea Factory back in the 90's and 00's primarily made regular fantasy RPGs. Mainly, the "Neverland" series which is divided between the "Spectral Force" games ("Spectral Souls" and "Blazing Souls" are part of it) and the "Generation of Chaos" games, quite the longstanding franchise in fact. Much less a bunch of spin-offs in-between like "Neverland Card Battles" and "Spectral vs Generation". If you took a look at those games nowadays, you probably wouldn't have guessed that they were from Idea Factory given their perception. At some point, they retired from making RPGs and handed the reigns to Compile Heart. From there, they swapped over to primarily focusing on Otome, a type of Visual Novel, through their Otomate brand. Funnily, in that genre, they are quite well regarded and even, dare I say, popular. The "modern" Idea Factory is actually just Compile Heart. And you can see an immediate difference starting with "Record of Agarest War". While it essentially is a spiritual successor to "Neverland", there was a clear increase in sexualized content. And every game from them since has been like that: "Neptunia", "Death End", "Trillion", "Mary Skelter", "Fairy Fencer F", etc. All this to say that whenever I hear a Compile Heart game referred to being an Idea Factory game, it kind of bothers my dumb brain since I've made such a distinction. It's not technically incorrect...but at the same time, not correct either. Oh, and their western publishing branch being called Idea Factory International probably does not help either. Cause yeah, they are bringing over both Compile Heart's RPGs as well as Idea Factory's Otome. Though that's a whole other thing that I have a massive pet-peeve of in general. But yeah, it might be for the best you stay away from their games. You clearly are apprehensive about giving them a chance so it's probably better if you avoid them entirely. Not like there's a short supply of RPGs to choose from these days anyway.
Oh honestly, I wouldn't say I'm TOO apprehensive about playing Compile Heart games. Because of what I've played so far, I've generally enjoyed quite a bit. I'm sure they're hit or miss, just like most big developers with a ton of titles. I don't know if, for example, the Neptunia games would be the most appealing to me (though I still plan on giving them a shot at least).
mines are: . Persona 5 Strikers & Royal . Rise . Digimon Story CS (persona wanna be) . Fairy Fencer F . Cris Tale . Haven . Trails of Cold Steel 3&4 . Chained Echoes . 13 Sentinels .CrisTale I love JRPGs, and was very excited for these games when they came out. But for some reason I'm not playing them, they just sit there in my backlog. I think this might be a case of JRPG burnout.
Burnout is real. I take it you've played Cold Steel 1 & 2? If not, then you can safely put aside 3&4 for a while. Definitely recommend 13 Sentinels if you want something sci-fi and pretty different, it's fantastic.
@@JustTheGems being Nintendo Switch gamer I haven't played Trails OCS 1&2 yet. but I will play 13 sentinels. and while I'm at it, maybe you should give Fairy Fencer F a try. No, I've never played it, but seeing that you and I, with so many others, bought it for the same reasons... Maybe it will make an interesting video.
As for what is in my pile of shame, spoilers (work in progress), but one game that did not make my list is 13 Sentinels. I gave Death end re;Quest about a good 10-12 hours, and I can't say I enjoyed my time with it. The combat is kind of neat, but I don't have high praise for the rest of the jrpg segments. The story with the visual novel is intriguing, and maybe it would have been better as a visual novel. Some do like this game, but I am not one of them
Well I'll say good on you for giving it 10 hours, I think I probably cut myself off at 5 when a game isn't vibing with me. I probably should strive to go for 10 or so though, some games do legitimately take that long to ramp up.
Quality video again Brandon! Iv just gone back to Persona 5 Tactica after nearly giving up (it’s abit slow at the start and I ain’t one for tactical rpgs but I’m a persona fan 😂) And I got to say I’m loving it!! You couldn’t be more right about having games in your back log that you are looking forward to play.. that’s what I am doing with octopath traveler 2. And on that note I believe sea of stars is getting a physical release on May 10th (in the UK it is anyways)
Nice! I have a Kickstarter copy coming to me for Sea of Stars, which I guess is somehow different than the retail one...? I wish they wouldn't do things like that. Seems weird for the backers to have to wait. (Though full disclosure, I wasn't a backer myself, but my friend who DID back it had an opportunity to order an extra copy, so I'm getting that.)
@@JustTheGems can’t be physical copies! I’m still praying trails of the sky comes to switch as that’s where I want to start.. Iv read some things on the internet that a standard laptop will be able to run the trails of the sky on steam.. what you think?
"I buy games, I don't play them. I'm a fake gamer". This has never been further from the truth. A real gamer buys 20 games and goes back to that one game they've played through 30 times.
Hmm, good to know. Didn't even know there are multiple endings, so I'll have to consult a (spoiler-free) guide. Don't want to miss it and have to go back.
@JustTheGems I think it's just making sure you get every conch shell and finish main story beats. There are definitely spoiler free guides. The normal credits roll is pretty meh but the true ending is special.
First thing, you are not weird for replaying a trails game for the 15th time, for a certain small percentage of gamers (me included) trails is an addiction because there is nothing else like it in existence. It's literally 1 of 1, because falcom is the only one even trying to do something like this. I read an article today saying that the way the Last of Us part 2 ended, they're going to do a Joel pre-quel game next because the story hit a roadblock. I'm like "that's cute, trails has 12 games out, 13 this September, and isn't close to running out of story." Second, I was hyped as all hell for Sea of Stars, then I downloaded the demo and played that all the way through and.....I didn't like the demo. I'm still planning to play this game eventually, but my poor response to the demo has knocked this way down my list. Thing to keep in mind: the demo was really puzzle heavy and if puzzle heavy is not your thing, this might not be for you.
My backlog is too ling to write down here haha but sorry sea of stars is all hype made it 20 hours before calling it quits, death end request is a mix of hyper neptunia with story by the same folks thay worked on corpse party, it get slept on fue too ideas factory rep. Unfortunately fairy fencer is name bait as you would think the game is amazing with all those legends but alas its sadly just like neptunia and mediocre as hell but those games are always on sale for like 5 bucks so you get ya moneys worth but i wouldn't put it on the must play list haha get to it one day. Eastward is like a fun mother spin off i havent started yet but was excited to get it on sale and has all the quirkiness i like

Hey thank you so much! Yeah, I need to get to Baten Kaitos, I'm sure I'll like it based on its pedigree.
Great list and I have one too of course, lol, it's so hard but we all try!
It's hard-bordering-on-impossible! Somebody help us!
I’ve said it before here but give rune factory a try, specifically 4. The game isn’t short but doesn’t require long game sessions to make progress. Perfect for when you have an hour here or there. Or in between larger jrpgs
Yeah, it sounds like it'd be good for in-between sessions, for sure

These games are all rad and stuff and I should honestly play a few of them, but I just got Delta on my iPhone and Chrono Trigger is calling my name.
I mean, yes, you need to play Chrono Trigger. Chrono Trigger is a "drop everything and play" game. A DEAP game.
That's good to hear, because I definitely have enjoyed Mary Skelter (I'm meaning to get back to that series, I have the rest of them waiting)
@@JustTheGems Yeah, I heard about that whole fiasco. Hope you get your copy! At any rate, enjoy!
Thank you so much!! Yeah, us fake gamers gotta band together and replay the games that make us feel young!
@@JustTheGems I just bought Trails of the Sky for Steam Deck, seems like the ‘best’ starting point and the only place to play? Hoping I actually get around to playing it soon and popping my Trails cherry 😂
I have Eastward as well on the backlog, still sealed……A few others.
…and I’m saving myself for Physical Sea of Stars as well. 😂
Seeing as how my Sea of Stars physical just arrived... I'm running out of excuses! 😅
@@JustTheGems Mine hasn't yet :(
I have Eastward and Sea of Stars in my backlog also, but I don't know when I'm going to get it in because I'm still on Unicorn Overlord and playing some MLB the Show and then Hundred Heroes will come out, and I still never got through the last of the Triangle strategy story.
The more I hear about Third Power, the more excited I get to start...!
@@JustTheGems DO IT!!!!
@@JustTheGems I loved it and Ara fell so much that I double dipped to get the physical versions
Excellent to hear - I'm also eager to play Chained Echoes, for that matter.
I sometimes find myself going too quickly through tutorials for complicated games and then wishing I'd paid more attention... I know how that can be!
Would you recommend Harvestella and/or Rune Factory to someone like me that can't get into Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley?
Honestly, I'd still recommend Harvestella even then. (Can't speak to Rune Factory, haven't played those yet.) Harvestella is like 90% action RPG and 10% farming. It's far from a focus, so I think you'll find enough to love outside of the farm elements to keep you enjoying yourself.
My list of switch Backlog JRPGs:
Ys VIII
Ys IX
Persona 5
Persona 5 Tactica
Valkyrie Chronicles 4
Xenoblade 2
Xenoblade 3
Neo: The World Ends With You
Harvestella
Nier Automata
All trails games (on Sky SC at the moment)
Triangle Strategy
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Atelier Ryza
No No Kuni (1&2)
Chained Echoes
Dragon Quest XI
Bravely Default 2
DisgaeA 5
Super Mario RPG
Sea of Stars
There’s more…
Same haha (even the ‘on Sky SC rn’ part)
Except, I don’t know anything about the Disgaea games
This is almost exactly mine, I am at the end of Sky SC but havent finished
These are all AAA+ games! You're in pretty good shape if you have all those to look forward to, I'll tell you what.
Have you played Grandia 1 and 2?
I have! On PS1 and PS2 (respectively), but not the HD remasters yet
Whoa that's a great idea! Playing alphabetically. Would you mind if I maybe stole that? Might make for fun videos...
Let me know how it works out 🤗
rise of the third power and sea of stars (I would also add chained echoes) ahore those type of games that you regret not playing them sooner so..
Oh yeah, Chained Echoes is another one... Maybe that physical will ship. One day...
Well I still didn't get to properly playing Dragon Quest 11. :D
If you ever get a chance, it's really brilliant
Hi Brandon! Well... no worry if I would list all the games I own that I still need to play/finish you would not fell as bad lol Like I did not finish any Persona, Trails of or Xenosaga, just to name a few...
Dude I bought Dragon Quest IX back in 2010 and have yet to even try it lol
Haha, I always assumed that one would be more fun multiplayer, since that's kinda how they designed it. At least for parts. I have the cart sitting around here somewhere...
Glad to know i’m not the only one with a big backlog 😅😄
It’s funny, I was never the biggest Digimon fan (I loved the mon designs but wasn’t like a stan for Digimon) but Survive does peak my interest 🤔
My embarrassing backlog are for these games below 😂 ⬇️
1. Tales of Arise (Have the fancy collectors edition for the PS4 but I have just not found enough time to just sit down and dive in, I love the Tales if series, I just need to dive in)
2. Mother 3 (Had no interest in Mother or Mother 2/Earthbound, I think it’s because I didn’t grow up on the peanuts aesthetics, but everything that I have learned about Mother 3 really interests me from the research I have done and from clips i’ve seen)
3. Muramasa Rebirth/Demon Blade (I LOVE Odin Sphere on the PS4/3/Vita I have tried every other Vanillaware game, all accept Muramasa and now Unicorn Overlord yet none if the others reached the hype Odin Sphere did for me but really excited to play Muramasa Rebirth soon since I love the vibe its going for)
4. Golden Sun 1 & 2 (I started playing Golden Sun 1 and was loving it but got caught up playing other games at the time but really want to get back to Golden Sun 1 & 2)
5. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 & Torna - The Golden Country (Listen, I ADORE Xenogears, played Xenosaga and hated it, played Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, while the story was good it was very 100% completion unfriendly which unfortunately for me, turns me off of a lot of games, I have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in my backlog because I love the character designs and loved the window feel I got while playing Smash Ultimate, gunna give XC2 & Golden Country a chance but XC1 just didn’t vibe with me)
6. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (I wanna dive into this one so bad, on paper it’s everything I wanna from a DBZ JRPG that we didn’t get during the PS2 gen….. outside of that fever dream Saga 😅)
7. WrestleQuest (I adore this concept but it doesn’t have a physical yet)
8. Sea of Stars (Sea of Stars was not really on my radar because despite what folks say…. It’s hard for me to believe something will match Chrono Trigger but there has been a mountain amount of hype built up so I gotta play it)
9. Tunic (I LOOKS ADORABLE and I need to know more 😅)
10. Anno Mutationem (I was late to the party on this one but love its PS1 vibe its going for)
🩵🍻
Haha, well that's not a bad strategy! I think I'm probably too far gone at this point......
Interesting list of games🤔
As someone who’s played fairy fencer F advent dark force multiple times, I can honestly say it’s a good game at its core.
Might I recommend a game called unsighted it might be a game worth checking out
Played the demo for sea of stars and loved it❤ however I just have not felt like playing the full game for some reason?? Not sure why🤔
Baten kaitos was a game I was looking forward to for a long time as I had played the original and was thrilled to see it coming back, however for me personally it was a disappointment. 10 hours in and I put it down and have not touched it sense. ( I’m sure it’s a good game I think? However it’s not for me)
The rest I can’t comment on as I have never played them, I have persona 5 tactica and rune factory 4 however I have not played ether yet
@@JustTheGems
Yep that sums it’s up nicely actually, I keep going back to death end re quest to figure out why I’m not liking it🤔 so far am not having much luck… I mean if this pirate likes games like bloodrayne 🤔 I should enjoy death end request right?
I keep starting death end request and I can't get 10 minutes past the intro
Oof, that doesn't bode well.... Thanks for the warning!
As a Digimon fan, Digimon Survive was disappointing not because the gameplay was bad, but because the story wasn't great. It just felt lackluster and I was left with very little reason to want to play through the other routes.
Interesting... I also hadn't thought about there being multiple routes, I don't know if I want to invest the time at this point.....
I don't know if, for example, the Neptunia games would be the most appealing to me (though I still plan on giving them a shot at least).
mines are:
. Persona 5 Strikers & Royal
. Rise
. Digimon Story CS (persona wanna be)
. Fairy Fencer F
. Cris Tale
. Haven
. Trails of Cold Steel 3&4
. Chained Echoes
. 13 Sentinels

I love JRPGs, and was very excited for these games when they came out.
@@FletchMo7 Yeah, I would think so. They're not doing anything too crazy with the hardware.
"I buy games, I don't play them. I'm a fake gamer".
This has never been further from the truth. A real gamer buys 20 games and goes back to that one game they've played through 30 times.
"Yes, I know I have a stack of brand new games, but I need to replay Trails of Cold Steel for the fifteenth time! Class VII needs me!"
Sea of stars is great provided you get the true ending.
I am so far behind it's not even funny, I haven't started YS 8 or 9 and that is just a shame
Sea of Stars I got so far in it and I just kind of stopped, I would say where but spoilers
Oooh, you're in for a treat, I LOVED Ys 8 and 9. SO good.
I have, admittedly, never played Persona 5. I’ve only ever been in the room when my oldest kiddo was playing it. 😂
I LOVED that game so much.
I'm like "that's cute, trails has 12 games out, 13 this September, and isn't close to running out of story."
Second, I was hyped as all hell for Sea of Stars, then I downloaded the demo and played that all the way through and.....I didn't like the demo. I'm still planning to play this game eventually, but my poor response to the demo has knocked this way down my list. Thing to keep in mind: the demo was really puzzle heavy and if puzzle heavy is not your thing, this might not be for you.
Amen my Trails sibling.
And yeah, I enjoyed the Sea of Stars demo myself, but even with that, I'm still...just...hesitating.
Eastward is like a fun mother spin off i havent started yet but was excited to get it on sale and has all the quirkiness i like
Oh wow, I had no idea any of the Corpse Party creatives worked on Death end re;quest, that's awesome!
