This whole battle... from the opening moments, the giant robot, the Trailblazer defying death, through that f'ing awesome two phase battle with a soundtrack that just elevates it to beyond epic... this battle is easily the best goddam boss battle in any game I've ever played.
Well, from a story stand point, it's to emphasise on how crazy their expedition can be before our mc arrived on board. Like, Himoko and Welt doesn't even need to go on this one, it's just the beginning of our journey and more to come even greater. But for Hoyoverse, kinda like a symbolism, this is a straight up promise they can pull off shits like these every single major patch. Their confidence scared me, well, let the hype train going.
This was my favorite moment in the game so far. Watching him go through this is almost as good. I've watched Gigguk for years...I couldn't ask for better validation, than watching him ask for this to last as long as possible. Rawr!
This whole fight was awesome. From the MC being a badass, to the power of friendship, the powerup, the soundtrack, the giant robot. Absolutely masterful.

This is 100% one of the best boss battles in any rpg. The presentation, and introduction of new mechanics. All with an absolutely amazing sound track timed to key moments. Is just top tier.
Garnt, this was only a small taste for how crazy Honkai Impact 3rd gets. Hoping one day you dive into it as a man who appreciates truly epic tales. Considering both games have the same lead writers, you're in for a treat once they really get the story going.
@@Imp3rdLord Yea, it started slow because they wanted to bait players in with the cute and wholesome anime story, then they hit us back to back with the feel hammer.
Honkai impact story got worse since Otto death tho. This particular scene is not good because of story, it's because of good directing of boss fight. Jarilo arc story is decent overall it's not that impressive since I've seen a lot of this moment in anime or even on videogames and later the 2nd planet story is so boring so far. I swear some honkai fans love bringing up their favorite honkai impact 3rd and overhype it when someone enjoying star rail or genshin.
I just did it yesterday and loved it. The whole thing hit even harder having Bronya and Serval in my party... if only I had Seele as well, it would have been 100% perfect, but getting to activate Belebog March the moment the full-party fight after the element change felt so flawless - Cocolia turned her back on protecting the people and Bronya's quote as she ults is a perfect battle cry for that fight.
This is fr the most genuine reaction and almost EXACTLY how I screamed upon watching everything go down. I don’t even think I was 100% invested until now, it was legit the most epic thing I’ve seen in years
No joke, after I played the fight for the first time I hunted down a 10 minute version of Wildfire (the song) and now it lives in all my playlists. Somehow, I still can't tire of it no matter how many times I hear the song. As a semi-well-versed gamer myself, this is one my top 5 of best boss battles I've had.
I won't lie, that beat drop during the second phase got me hype. It was already a pretty fun fight before, but as soon as Cocolia started charging and her dialogue hit with that vocal solo in the background, that made it all the more better.
The final boss fight slaps so hard. Usually I don’t like challenging bosses again but Cocolia’s boss fight I will do over and over again cause of how amazing it is!
All the best Sync ups (IMHO) 32:40 - Svarog retaliation into phase two boss but still in phase 1 music 33:50 - Robot punch (nearly) on beat 34:00 - Bronya shot on beat 34:40 - Bronya ULT step on beat into verse 35:06 - Flaming Lance... FORWARD! 35:20 - Svarog retaliation on beat.. again 35:55 - DROP SYNC WITH ROBOT SMASH AND GARNT CLAP (SO HYPE!!! THIS IS SO HYPE!!!!)
YES THANK YOU. That's exactly the same reaction I had and I just wanted to see someone else having as much of a blast as me. Besides that, phase 2 lyrics appeared in your case perfectly after the first track ended. Also seeing Svarog going full Berserker with such OST was extra satisfying. Extra cool thing is that you can grind Cocolia weekly with these tracks playing... Recently I even replayed the fight even after exhausting all three weekly attempts. I really can't wait for the next boss to drop.
easily one of my fave gaming moments this year and probably in a bunch of years, it was absolutely amazing and I was listening to those two songs on repeat for like 2 weeks
Since Cocolia had the lance first and it's the Guardians' Will that tells you to take it, I feel like Qlipoth totally just declared us worthy as supreme guardian...
Hoyoverse keep leveling up and the world is not ready for it. I'm an old school hardcore gamer from e.g. Path of Exile, which is one of the most theorycrafting heavy, unapproachable games of all time. I play Genshin and Star Rail now, no one is safe from these games. Not only is the story, visuals, sounds, overall delivery unparalelled, but they somehow are constanly nailing the balance between easy to learn hard to master, character balance, etc. Not only that, but for someone who can't play 12 hours a day anymore, a game where how you invest your limited resources matter let's me keep up or even get ahead even now that I've turned "casual". Hoyoverse is the best game developer since Genshin came out and it's not even close (actually maybe fromSoftware wins). Either way, they are one of the only game developers I will try every game they release because they earned that trust with me. The way some people used to feel about e.g. Blizzard. Zenless zone zero is going to be another masterpiece, you can quote me on that.
That's the thing; it's difficult to game 4 hours a day much less 12 hours a day when balancing family and work. Genshin and Star Rail are bite size. I can log in, do my daily and do a story quest. The story has been great and can't wait until the next section comes out. Also at F2P, it's putting 60 dollar games to shame.
Mostly agree. I've played games since I was a kid (31 now), and SO MANY of them have had epic moments that I'll always remember. Hoyoverse are simply adding to that list, and they're especially amazing because ever since HI3, they've been innovating in not only the gacha space, but anime games generally. I liked gachas and loved anime, but always wanted a gacha of triple-A quality and large scale, then Genshin came along. It was graphically beautiful, had great character and world design, played well, and delivered ten-fold on music and presentation. Now they've got a strong turn-based title, and a roguelite on the way (which now seems EXTRA promising after seeing how they've handled Simulated Universe in Star Rail). Hoyo puts out such quality that I can't justify playing other gachas anymore (although Wuthering Waves is looking good). Their polish in just about every area of game design should be celebrated. They almost single-handedly raised the bar for gacha and anime games alike. And I do agree they strike a good balance of depth and ease as well, although more challenging content in Genshin would have been nice personally. I may work full-time, but I still get most of my gaming motivation from having to earn my wins and master the mechanics. I did eventually quit Genshin because of that, but I'm finding Star Rail to be better in this department. You mention From Software and they're a top developer for me too. Their games are full of atmosphere, mystery and playtsyle diversity, while also offering a satisfying level of challenge. Anyway, Hoyo is definitely up there in terms of developers for me. I'm excited about ZZZ and any other future titles in the works.
It's telling that the only game people compare to HSR is Genshin it seems, only Mihoyo are able to best Mihoyo right now in the genres they exist in and no one else even comes into the conversation. I'm playing and loving Zelda right now but I know that that is a game where after it ends, it's over and it won't just keep getting BETTER over time like Mihoyo games.
Gonna second that, Hoyoverse games have taken the gaming industry through a whirlwind. I used to play Raid Shadow legends before because i cannot afford long hours of game but Star rail have completely obliterated that cash grab out of the water ever since it came out and completely abandoned that piece of turd game.
now this is how you do an anime game climax. Music is always important by doing the side quest in the planet overtimes you will found music to use when you at the train.. the theme name is "WildFire". cocolia is a weekly boss you can fight her and the theme will be there so keep fighting her just for the ost.
Don't think anyone was expecting just how epic the finale to the first world was going to be. I remember my mouth was open the whole time fighting against Cocolia.
I'm glad more games took cues from Nier Automata and made music dynamically change with context. I just love hearing layers of songs reveal themselves and match the game situations. I'm also 90% sure the syncing of the songs with the R/ult usage isn't an accident either.
the absolute insanity of the timing for the final attack is amazing, my own experience was already amazing and then watching this is making me relive the hype and then some, absolute W from hoyoverse for this
That Bronya step at 34:46 is absolutely timed perfectly... I watched other vids of this boss fight, this is the most timed one. It's like scripted... BTW the only scripted is vocal drop one, the rest is timed accidentally

@@Zephyr_frost17 Ah yes, i love the MC, she/he is VERY useful. Unlike, well, some other games
Always a treat to see ppl's reaction when the vocals kick in.
How did I just put 2 and 2 together that the Lance Cocolia had and impaled is with … was the frozen Lance of Preservation
This whole battle... from the opening moments, the giant robot, the Trailblazer defying death, through that f'ing awesome two phase battle with a soundtrack that just elevates it to beyond epic... this battle is easily the best goddam boss battle in any game I've ever played.
i noticed that the game tries to syncs up the bgm drop with the giant attack, really cool that they did that
The best part is March 7th after the fight.
"Welp, that was a thing."
I mean, even Dan Heng said it was a rather normal expedition. I jist hope Hoyo really backs it up with future releases.
That last hit was absolutely incredible.
I trust hoyoverse enough that they will continue making banger story and experience but I'm also scared that the next up coming experiences in this game wouldn't top this battle or atleast the feeling we felt in this battle
Tbh, they may have set the bar a bit too high, but with the fantastic set pieces and music sync stuff they did here? I'm expecting later chapter bosses to still be pretty darn fantastic, even if they never quite reach this level. But who knows? Maybe they already got some amazing stuff in the works.
@@tinfoilmkiv8394 either they played their trump card way to early or they know what theyre doing and we havent seen anything yet. either way im intrigued to see what happens in the future of this damn gacha game thats been going too hard for some reason.
Phantyllia felt on par with cocolia for me personally so I think that they are doing a good job at that.
35:56 absolute perfection
Cocolia let the intrusive thoughts win
it's not (just) the track. it's how it is delivered. it's like whoever made the song knew exactly the scene inside out, and vice versa, whoever made the scene knew exactly when to "cut" according to the music
I have play a lot of game but this fight is honestly one of the best boss battle as far as I can remember
god i hope someone makes a compilation of a reaction to this fight cause MMMMM THAT DROP GOES FUCKING *HARD*
I was in the middle of watching the vod when it got taken off, glad it this part got uploaded to enjoy, lol
I think I may have gotten addicted to this game now. That boss fight was amazing but when the lyrics kicked in I was on the edge of my seat!
Really enjoyed this reaction.
I guess this is why I watch reaction videos. Seeing people's genuine reactions to the things I'm interested in brings me entertainment and pride for having experienced that.
The goosebumps and heart palpitations I had for almost 40 minutes straight are not even enough to describe how this whole thing made me feel
That was so fucking insane
you get a glimpse of Garnt's face that only Syd gets to see in the night RIGHT when Wildfire vocals kicks in, that man 100% came
You don't need to be a huge gamer to understand that Mihoyo/Hoyoverse absolutely SLAYED that experience. Incredible Chapter 1 finale. Masterfully executed. They have set the bar high for the next boss fight. Like JFC that boss theme slapped harder than it had any business doing....
This boss fight and everything about it hit me like a truck. Just completed it and I'm left speechless. Wow. Just wow.
Thank Mihoyo proving turn based combat is not dead!!
God the OST for this fight had my hairs standing on end for how hype this fight was
This is 100% one of the best boss battles in any rpg.
HI3's story has quite a number of ass parts though. It is fairly clear that they wrote themselves into a corner for the Kiana Saga.
@@frostmourne1986 true
Yeah issue is 3rd starts very slow. Like rail proves you really have to hit the ground running to get max milage
I had Serval with me for this fight, her guitar with the ost made it so epic
Didn't expect his reaction. Pretty damn entertaining.
I live for people’s reaction to this fight.
One of the most EPIC Boss fights I have ever experienced.
I was vibing and nerding out all the same as well! The lead up and build up of the story was so perfect. Just simply such an amazing game.
I have the same hype and goosebumps as fighting Nyx in persona 3, God daym
The final boss fight slaps so hard. Usually I don’t like challenging bosses again but Cocolia’s boss fight I will do over and over again cause of how amazing it is!
All the best Sync ups (IMHO)
32:40 - Svarog retaliation into phase two boss but still in phase 1 music
33:50 - Robot punch (nearly) on beat
34:00 - Bronya shot on beat
34:40 - Bronya ULT step on beat into verse
35:06 - Flaming Lance... FORWARD!
35:20 - Svarog retaliation on beat.. again
35:55 - DROP SYNC WITH ROBOT SMASH AND GARNT CLAP (SO HYPE!!! THIS IS SO HYPE!!!!)
Literally a playable anime. Lol it was like one of Maxors intermission edits in his videos. It was a damn work of pure art.
I'm literally hoping that they gonna be able to keep this kind impact in the future cause I'm literally loving this game!
That boss fight was a new level of gaming for me. Amazing in every way. Made me feel like a kid again.
The lyrics kicking in hit so hard
Mihoyo makes good games for being a music company. Only flames🔥🔥
ost hits hard.
Since Cocolia had the lance first and it's the Guardians' Will that tells you to take it, I feel like Qlipoth totally just declared us worthy as supreme guardian...
I didn't expect the boss fights to be so good in this game fr
Best reaction from the best Trash Man. The timing was also incredible.
Ngl but honkai star rail kinda slaps hard man. This storyline is so freaking good.
now this is how you do an anime game climax. Music is always important
by doing the side quest in the planet overtimes you will found music to use when you at the train.. the theme name is "WildFire".
cocolia is a weekly boss you can fight her and the theme will be there so keep fighting her just for the ost.
Don't think anyone was expecting just how epic the finale to the first world was going to be. I remember my mouth was open the whole time fighting against Cocolia.
The timing was perfect OMFG! 35:57
This boss fight blew me away. What a first planet experience
I'm a gamer since I was like 10, and trust me... Yes, that was one of the best boss battle EVER. God fuck, they went BANANAS with that fight.
I'm glad more games took cues from Nier Automata and made music dynamically change with context. I just love hearing layers of songs reveal themselves and match the game situations. I'm also 90% sure the syncing of the songs with the R/ult usage isn't an accident either.
I can think of at least a few games that did that before Nier Automata.
@@GewalfofWivia nier did the extreme after all. Almost every song have 6-8 different layers to be played.
There are literally hundreds of games that have dynamic music before Nier.
The vocals hitting in the final phase is sooo MGR too
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
the absolute insanity of the timing for the final attack is amazing, my own experience was already amazing and then watching this is making me relive the hype and then some, absolute W from hoyoverse for this
Ngl this might be one of the best reaction to cocolia's boss fight.
Damn, she said friend, why would you... Nevermind, modern times I guess.
No matter how many times you go through this fight, you'll want more. This is the truth you cannot deny!
If this is the fucking tutorial world for Honkai: Star Rail, I’m really fucking hype for the rest of this game.
Bronya: *literally mourning her mother's death*
March: lmao that was fun, where to next?
Why does his boss fight have SOOO MANY TIME SYNCS, it’s not fair 🥲
"Don't use 2x speed"
"Use normal speed"
The same people later after he acknowledged them:
"LeT hIm PlAy GuYs"
"2x is okay"
I just watched this live, and now I'm going to watch it again lol
That Bronya step at 34:46 is absolutely timed perfectly... I watched other vids of this boss fight, this is the most timed one. It's like scripted... BTW the only scripted is vocal drop one, the rest is timed accidentally
This sequence was soooo good. I usually watch TV while playing. I turned off TV and watched this instead....
26:39 Why do I feel that Cocolia targetting Bronya was very lore accurate? Mother do be seeking revenge against her (adopted) daughter for refusing the Stellaron will, but Bronya did the right thing (except lying, lying is bad, even if it is to give everyone hope for a tomorrow that could never arrive)
P.D: This OST do be slapping everyone's ears because it's EXTRAORDINARY. Accept it. It's amazing.
2 final forms and epic boss music, the perfect icing recipe for a jrpg final boss
What Wildfire does to a mf 36:25
The music in this scene does most of the work. Hats off to the composers honestly
