    The trams are a fantastic Idea love it! But just incase you didn't know the Tram tacks don't have to be built on the roads they can follow along with a road or be put straight through grassland

      Yeah but what would be the point of that. You still need to cut across intersections and slow down car traffic, best one is overhead one.

      I had a city where I made the tram tracks parallel along the heavy traffic streets they used to be on. Was very effective in allowing the tram trains to move quickly.

    The reason for such low tram usage is 1) your stops are too far apart and there’s too much overlap with your buses. Have bus lines “spoke” off of the tram line. Don’t have them serve the same routes.

    35:58 the problem with this lane is, that the lane switch is considered unsafe. So open trafic mod, click on the node with the new lane (not the intersection!) coming of the others and replace the unsafe path eith a save path. So then they'll switch over sooner!

    Hey Biffa. There's no need to have 2 stops at that tram loop, one would be enough....also closer to the tram depot isn't there some sort of food/dairy factory? Maybe it would be an idea to extend the line there to provide more employees......also complaining about lack of node controller and then at 32:50 proceeding to control a node.....absolutely brilliant. Loooove the channel and the commentary ;)

      Also there are too few stops on the tram line. There is a public transport hierarchy. Trains feed onto subways, subways feed onto trams, which feed onto buses. So connect subways/trams to railway stations and buses to subway/tram stops.

      came here to say this. two stops serve the same location, then not nearly enough stops along the rest of the road. Need more tram stops and then should move the bus lines to branch out from the tram line rather than running along the same route

    Trams and traffic will always in each others way when they are on the same roads. In city centres/town areas you need stops fairly close to each other for people to use the tram. When you go outside the main areas of the city you can space out the stops. Trams will never be a "high speed" form of transport. The underground is better suited for that.

    The distance between each stop is a bit too far, making it less favourable to your citizens. Bring stops closer and you will see people piling up at the tram stop!

      @@patrickmcegan7189 I can tell. Many people think tram should serve as a long-distance urban transport. But this should be instead handled by inner-city train or subway, not tram.

      @@patrickmcegan7189 Generally speaking, there should be different modes of transports handling travels of different distance. The question is, how to combine these modes of transports to form a feasible public transport network for citizens. If someone puts tram as mid- to long-distance transport, then there must be some options for short distance travel, like bus or, bike, which is sadly not yet available in CS2...
      Trying to replace short-distance buses with long-distance trams does not make much sense.

    "If we had Node Controller..." We do... _MoveIt_ is the new name for it, kind of... "Manipulation Mode" lets you smoothie smoothie nodes out (hold ALT to get the straight line movement) a bit like you did with the asymmetric road at the end. You might want to check out what _Traffic_ says about that junction BTW as it looks like "unsafe" turns are still happening across the lanes.

    Need a full bus route redesign. There's like three massive suburbs without any service. No line should run on the tram corridor unless very briefly.

    Hey Biffa your residential area with all the no pedestrian access on them will have a hidden park area or similar under them.. delete that, then delete the affected houses and they will build back without the issue

    if you don't want crossings on the 8 lanes, just add a footbridge close to the tram stop and add a path up to the middle of bridge... should be doable with anarchy

    you only moved one side of the industry shuttle line so it got two stops after each other, think you meant to get the other one down to that second stop

    Worrying about trams impacting traffic isn’t as big as traffic impacting trams. I had a main intersection with a tram stop down the block a bit on a 4 lane road. The trams always got backed up at the intersection because of all the cars using the second lane to go around trams and then take a right. About 40 cars would do this while the tram inches its way to intersection.

    Hi Biffa,
    appreciate mass transit.
    From real public transport and it's spacing of stops in germany's capital i can tell you a rule we try to follow:
    Bus-Stops 200-300 meter
    Tram-Stops 400-500 meter
    Subway-Stops 400-1500 meter
    S-Bahn ("Fast-Rail) 600-2500 meter
    Commuter-Rail 2,5 km - 20 km
    All that of cause depends on the density. High density shorter distances and a load of means of traffic, low density high distances and just one or two means (bus + commuter-rail).
    Could that realism be implemented with actual usage? 😊

    Hey Biffa, at the very end of the video you squeezed the nodes going into the roundabout which left you room to stretch the node in the turning lane going the opposite direction (the turn you lamented about). . .but you left it short...maybe just stretch it a few car lengths. :)

      Yeah, I don't think it's drivers disobeying the road rules... I think it's just a broken intersection, too many nodes in too short a space, and not helped by using mods to move them around.

    Trams are great to make a city car free, not to hook them up along a 8 lane road along busses and not transfers between lines

    Good work on the trams. Right near the end of the video, where you are having issues with the turn lane, try using the traffic mod right at the start of the turning lane. It'll probably show the entry to the turn lane as being unsafe. Assign that as permitted and the vehicles will likely start entering the lane sooner.

    27:40: You can make transitions longer by using the MoveIt-Mod. Enterng the "manipulation-Mode" you can pull the little circles apart and that will have exactly this effect.
    34:00: Take "traffic" and make a proper connection to the additional dedicated turning lane. By default there is only a "dashed line"-connection an I think this will end in this stupid very late lane switching

    27:45 But it makes sense from a layout point of view. The assymmetric roads don't have parking spots. The others have. Hence, the tram swerves around the parked cars, but turns to the right most lane in the assymmetric parts.

    Making traffic always obey the rules of the road, seems a bit unrealistic.
    I would like to see police officers ticket rule breakers though.
    Maybe adding CCTV camera's also make people behave better, as they don't want a ticket. ^^

    Great video, looking forward to seeing even more massive city expansion, remember to buy those tiles for that river bridge too (the one beside the power lines) that'll lead into the main downtown, think you can also afford to have some more industrial, commercial, office and high hise residential the far side of the tram tracks too, maybe as a mini downtown or secondary area since it does have major access to public transport, public services and one of the main entrance points to the city

    Been binging your videos. I used to play the old sim cities. You’ve convinced me, I’m getting it but I don’t mess with buying games online…ever. I’m also old school not sure how all these mods you guys speak of work.
    In other words can you make a video explaining everything I just told you I don’t understand. Typing to you from Western Maryland right by the 81 corridor(right north of the 70 intersection)

    When I had the 529 Tiles issue, I just changed the setting back to provide extra tile at final milestone and it relocked all the correct tiles.
    Though I noticed my money going down before I lost it all.

    I think in the first instance instead of putting the tram ON the road, it would be better to put it pesides the road on the suburb side with dedicated pedestrian paths so they don't have to cross your arterial

    biffa, when you did the first round-a-bout with the tram, the tracks are bugged their like going to the side the sharply going back into the middle because the tram tracks were supposed to be like on the side but you changed it, so it didnt change it (its the first round-a-bout near the tram depot)

    You can use the traffic mod as well as the mode manipulation tool to make the cars merge as they should!

    The road going into the city makes it hard (or impossible?) to do left hand turns into the ringroad. All due to the slip roads having a great angle to turn right but missing their counterparts to turn left. Probably a good idea for a little upgrade 😊

    In the junction in the final part of the video, I think with the Traffic mod you can tell drivers can change lane to use the dedicated one. If not, they are all changing just before the turn.

    You are one of the best "traffic manager" in the whole community, yet you are doing turn-arounds in the wrong way all the time 😂 trams don't have to cross each other if you change their one way track to the opposite way

    Is it possible to make a ramp from that overpass to the tram stop in the middle of the road? Also, that tram roundabout should be the other way around the park. That would avoid trams crossing each other.

    13:10 you got the footpath bridge right next to where you are, so people can get across to the stop on the other side *EDIT* i thought it would be on the outside of the road and not in the middle

    @Biffa Thank you for another great video. Is there a mod which allows you to pin/tag a point of interest? Thought it might be useful to add pins with a variety of signs, like roadworks for example, as a note to self if there are issues or something needs reworking? Thanks again

    my 260k city has all tiles unlocked i just let that be and set to 40% same as you and im still making 40 mill a month now i have 3 solar farms, that helps xD its settled down now after the update. I do have an issue though on a few random short section of roads or a junction, i had 100s of cims just stuck not moving, all wealthy some in jobs supposedly enroute to them or unemployed and just stood there still. i deleted a whole bunch 100s! from 2 croosroads and a short bridge between them. let it run and while the issue doesnt seem to be as bad i still have the odd cim getting stuck on the same bridge, there arent and random broken paths, its all sidewalks. also having an issue atm with 0 demand for anything, cant build anything, i have taxes at res 9% everything else at 11%. i could drop them to 0 and itll probably give me some demand back, but it just seems odd. actually looking around its a lot more widespread than i thought, literally half the cims on the map are stuck omg! i see a very rare one break free as im deleting them but i now feel its in vain because there are slowly and surely getting stuck again. this is a massive bug. in general, or just my city, or big cities, i dont know.

    Towards the end you tried to fix a left turn lane and it just wouldn't work for you, isn't it because you worked on the wrong side of the road? At 33:02 your pink circle mod is showing lane options for the left turn lane which you're trying to change around, but you did all the work on the other side of the road. If you did what you did, but on the node shown at the mentioned timestamp, wouldn't that fix it?

    I would like a daylight cycle which goes from sunrise to sunset but skips nighttime. Playing in the dark sucks and playing with static light is boring.

    I have all at 50 dollars a ticket and all rides are populair, My city is flourishing I even build a International Airport last night. But still in vanilla there is no challenge... Still waiting for the famous traffic manager mod. that one was so good..

    You didnt really come across it in this video, but if you use an asymmetrical road the trams will never ever use the turning lane and have to go to the outside lane from the middle median :( cant wait for the road builder mod

    Question to all the pro´s here (and Biffa!): Would you recommend buying Cities 2 now, or would it still be better to wait some more time? So, in terms of playability and fun? Or still too many weird things?

    I dont get it, i have a 2 city game, 1ith around 120k cims in it and the main city is pretty much traffic free.....Must be the three tram lines and bus routes that solved it

    5:15 Biffa worrying about cars getting stuck behind the trams instead of trams getting stuck behind þe cars. You're turning more American with each upload m8.
    p.s. þat upgrade to a 6 lane road doesn't look it's warranted given the low amount of traffic. 2 lane wiþ dedicated tram tracks looks ok to my eyes.
    but þen again þis is 5 am traffic, we're not into rush hour yet, so I might be legit 🤷🏻‍♂

    Always with the trams...... Why ain't the underground available earlier. London had them very early on in the development of the City.
