Fel has a good point, about the difficulty of celebrating something as a solitary practitioner that was originally intended to be celebrated as a huge gigantic festival that would shut down the whole city for an entire week.
As a Greek, I am always overjoyed when people from other cultures are interested in learning and appreciating/believing in the Hellenic Pantheon. They are certainly an interesting (albeit mercurial) bunch, both from a historical/mythological pov, as well as actual Deities. I would call myself an agnostic, but I do acknowledge their presence in my everyday life, in various, subtle ways...if that even makes any sense. All the best to both of you!
Someone else that Is Hellenic! Apollo and Hermes came over three years ago. Then they introduced me to Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, etc. I have had relationships will all of them. My personal pantheon is Zeus ( he sends his griffin to chat), Hades, and gods from order pantheons. Pan was with me on nature walk and showed the nature spirits. They are amazing. Great interview!!
As a practicing Hellenic Polytheist, I know book recommendations are wonky but trust academic sources that’s what I do. My only best recommendation to tip your feet in the water is Hellenic Polytheism: A household worship by Labrys it’s a “how to guide” to worshipping the Hellenic gods and goddesses. Also adding on Iliad and Odyssey read Plato or other philosophers about religion they give their takes, advice, observations of life, death, the gods, how we should worship them. It gives you an idea about the ancient Greeks might have saw and think about divinity.
Great interview, & fascinating topic. I’ve recently been very drawn to Norse paganism, & have been doing a lot of reading & research on Norse myths & deities. But regardless of the type of pagan someone is, I’ve found that hearing them talk about working with multiple deities, their perceptions of them, how they celebrate, etc. has been super enlightening, & encouraging to me as I embark on my own pagan journey!
Really liked this interview! There was a lot of great information shared about the Greek Gods and Goddesses. I will definitely check out the channels mentioned!
I had this discussion with Ivy once before (in the comments section of her "Chaos Magick" video), but I don't believe the gods are actual external entities - like I don't believe that Athena is some chick up on Mount Olympus with a bronze helmet and a pet owl. Instead, I regard her as the concept of "Wisdom" that's been "personified" into this character. So, is she "real"? Yeah, because Wisdom is real. I think that's a more useful way to look at it.
another great interview. i am surprised to hear that Hellenism is so rare, especially since that is what most people learn about in school. i even remember 'worshipping' Athena playing dungeons & dragons as a kid. so much of the ancient Greek culture and mythology permeates our society it would seem a natural goto for practitioners. and related to this is the Roman pantheon, for which @hearthofhaemonia is a great channel (and hopefully future interview!). again, so much of that system and practice is already built-into our lives, but we just ignore it. much to think about here, thank you both for your time and expertise! 🪐
I'm sure quite a few people practice Hellenic Polytheism but they are most certainly not on TH-cam! 😂 They are definitely hard to find. And thank you for the channel recommendation! 🙏

"Do work when work needs to be done." is like the tagline for all Folk Magic Practitioners.
