I have tried to do well on Ninpek for 2 hours and didnt make much progress, and that's WITH jumping down platforms. Then NL made it farther than i can ever imagine after just a few tries, all while handicapping himself by not knowing he can jump down platforms... I think I am getting older than I realize...
As much as i love "8bit music" i legit think it does something to my brain akin to the mythical "brown note" but instead of pooping, makes me vomit. I love love love retro game music. But ive noticed after prolonged play periods, i end up feeling sick 90% of the time. The other night i got sucked into Avianos in UFO50 for like 4 hours, just messing around, trying to win with no blue spaces, or with 5-6 castles. Ended up cherrying it, but after about 3.5hrs i literally had to take a vomit break to unload my whole fucking stomach before coming back to finish trial 5.
One reason there are more platformers than strategy games on the NES is that the NES could only hold a small number of low res sprites in memory, but it was (relative to PCs) very good at moving a lot of sprite instances on screen at once. Strategy games like Balatro would typically require more sprites. Another thing was that the resolution was so low that it was hard to display text on screen. They definitely could have made Balatro on the SNES though.
Hey NL, just wanted to say that watching you play Mooncat inspired me to buy UFO 50... After playing it for a couple days I have to say this is G.O.T.Y material. Thanks for bringing the game to my attention and for keeping the pogs coming
To throw my voice into the choir, the same thing happened to me! I watched the Mooncat video and thought it was a really neat concept so I bought the same and have been having a blast. Catch me in Bushido Ball grand finals
This is what Action 52 would have been like if the devs knew what they were doing, and they had all the time they needed to finish and polish every game.

Wait so they are actually modern games? I thought they felt super modern but some of the flavour text I thought implied they are actually old. Especially the graphics, even though they are very pixelated they felt way more clean like they understand what gamers need so much more than in the days of mario 1.
