Holland America also had a cheese extravaganza, escargot, white asparagus, fried shrimp and even all-you-can-eat filet mignon night. Unfortunately, there is no more lobsters at the Lido Market buffet.

See, this is what I expect of a cruise buffet. Lots of variety, and lots of things I've never tried before. This is definitely not your standard bargain 3-7 day cruise buffet food. Way way *WAY* too much here to pick just one favorite. I couldn't pick out just *one* thing that stood out to me. I would be so so full every single day... And the German theme? Oh wow. Thanks to you guys, I think I've found my new favorite cruise line.

German night was da bomb. 💣 But any Asian night gets my attention too. Crispy duck and shrimp, and spring rolls will get me going back for seconds. All the desserts looked great too! HAL has gotten the buffet down perfectly. Thanks for the yummy video! 😁
Our pleasure- thanks for the comment Sally! 😊 The crispy duck, shrimp and the spring rolls were really popular and ran out often, though thankfully they kept replenishing. The festive German night had plenty of good eats too 😋

We're on the Koningsdam in Feb/24 for 35 days so we are so hoping that we're offered these selections in the Lido Market. The German night looked amazing! Great video!!

How often do you all cruise? Are you retired?
We cruise about 4-5 times a year, and nope not retired
On Nieuw Statendam next month, thanks for the update on all the new food options on HAL. Been a year since we cruised because of some medical issues…..we heard HAL had redone the buffet menus.

We had that in the main dining for dinner- pretty good! 😋
The thing that caught my attention was the German food. It looked very authentic and honestly, it is getting darned hard to find good German restaurants as the owners of all of my favorites have died off (yes, seriously).
I think that I could eat this buffet ONLY and be very satisfied overall. If I can train the staff to give me small portions ... HAL is my wife's favorite cruise line and could be mine if they deliver food like this.
By the way, you mentioned that you are on a "back to back" cruise. If you are on the same ship for two 7 day cruises, do you need to disembark from the ship or do they allow you to leave your bags in the room and hang around on the ship between dismbarkation and embarkation? The closest that we have done to this was to take one cruise, take a week on land in Puerto Rico and take a cruise on another line. Another great video.
Thank you! 😊 Yeah that German buffet was very enjoyable- they went the extra mile for sure with the selection & we also appreciated the decorations that made it extra festive. As far as the B2B cruise- you usually don't have to get off if on the same ship, but depending on the port they might require guests to go through immigration check ashore, though sometimes that's done on the ship. For our B2B cruise, we booked it as one single cruise so were able to stay in the same cabin. If we had booked them separately and gotten different rooms, then the crew member would move our luggage to the new room on disembarkation/embarkation day, but you're also welcome to move them yourself.
The German dishes and desserts appealed to me.

They did have it once for each of our back-to-back cruises (night 9 of 10 day cruise and then night 6 of the 14 day).
