Like the Occitan troubadours and the trouvères of northern France, the Minnesänger celebrated courtly love and gave medieval German its letters of nobility. These "singers of love" - Minne is the old German word for love - thus perpetuated a poetic and musical tradition that had begun nearly two centuries earlier in Occitania. The Minnesänger, generally of noble and knightly blood, gradually emancipated themselves from their French models and developed their own styles and forms during the 13th century.

As a researcher on medieval music since young age, I have listened minnesang songs for years and years, and this rendition is one of the best ones, thanks for the upload! Please don't stop spreading love music, the world needs it.
In addition to being a composer, von der Vogelweide was also a knight! This is why, in the only known portrait of him from the Codex Manesse, he's depicted with a sword. Thank you for the performance!
He is also one of the Most important Poet in German language also he included the female experience in his works and Talks about roles of gender etc
Magnifique!
😮 Amazing❤🏆🏆🏆

What is that instrument on the far right
I believe this nice video should be spread out more for others. Can I, by any chance, repost your channel on another platform called Ganjing World? Hope to get your response soon. Thank you!
Hello,
Thank you for your interest. We are the ensemble in the video and would love for you to share it on your own platform!
Have a nice day
What is the strange lute-like instrument used here? Never seen another one like it.
a flat ” lira ” type with already fingerboardstops to change the playing from harp , the Lira became either a plucked instrument like guitar etc or evolved into the bowed crwth , like fiddles …
technically, this was not a minne song.
Because
a) it is sung from the pov of the woman
b) the woman was not nobility
c) they actually had sex
which made this song quite scandalous back in those days.
Yes , now I recognise the same distortion - playing with the obvious - religious & social order overcoming - discovered this song in my school music book & tried to sing it by heart - always wondering what the song and the Minnesänger influences at the Babenberg court was about - living in Minnesänger county here …
