    Hi mate, thanks a lot for that video. Thanks to it, I can finally open the rear door properly from the inside and throw my modest DIY solution in the garbage can.
    Greetings from Germany!

    Thanks Brett. A mate of mine had the rear door mechanism fail on his Prado and spent a long time trying to get to the internals of the door from inside so he could open it. This gadget solves a potential problem, especially when we travel on dirt roads a lot and dust tends to jam the mechanism and not being able to open the door on a remote trip would be a mjor problem.

      Hey Ian, I'm not sure this would be of benefit in that situation. Since it attaches to the original mechanism and simply adds an additional lever point. if that makes sense. It would really depend on where the failure was in the system, for this to work as an alternative . for the price though, can't really hurt

    Brett, comment at 8 mins in is spot on - "one would think that would come out". Is Christmas eve 2022 - back door wont open. Had undone internal bolts but didnt know the external bolts holding plastic spike needed to come out - had resorted to violence with hammer and was starting to feel very bloody un- christmassy. Took a breath and came inside to find some pointers on utube - cheers for taking the time to make the video - have subscribed. Going for a beer - merry christmas all.

    I was thinking the same thing about the table being an issue BUT I've been thinking of fitting a solinoid with a button on the rear door, just need to work out the engineering of it all.
    Also eliminates the issue of cutting the dust cover.

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should all be easy enough I guess. Maybe you could look to retro fit a normal car one or an after market option. The mounting would be the challenge I guess. But it would be under the rear wheel, so you could probably go through the rear door without it being obvious. Keep me posted if you do it.

    Howdy Brett
    Very interesting release mechanism
    I’ll definitely look into getting one, it would be great for when sleeping in back of truck or if rear door stuck
    Thanks for taking time to produce video, looks like it was a monumental effort to install
    Looking forward to next videos
    Cheers mate

      Hey Benny, thanks mate .yeah, it took me a while to get it dialed in, but I cut most of that.
      In the end, the washer did the trick but I tried several other things before I got to that point. cheers

    I fitted one of these a while back. Has worked well. You don't actually need to remove anything off the outside of the door to fit this, just the inner trim. It's really fiddly this way but entirely possible. You can also just cut a small section out of the clear hard plastic to allow the handle to poke through, enough so your hand doesn't scrape it. I used a plastic bag to create a new dust seal around the handle.

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah figured that out after I removed it but thought it was worth it to just have a look and see how it all works. I may have cut the bit out where I said you don't need to do that. I'm going to see if the dust thing is an issue. if it is, I'll try the bag trick. Cheers

    Great video Brett. Maybe you could drill a hole in the top and attach some small rope to pull it back to open . Hope to see you at the Pajero outing in the watagans

      Now I know how it works I reckon I could come up with something, but it's never been something I've needed with my set up. I just climb out the side door.

    You could put a flexible glove taped on the hole to stop the dust anyway just a thought good one and thanks from me who was asking if you knew one and how to do it 🥰

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm just going to suck it up at this stage for now. The viideo was the short version. There was lots of messing about you didn't see . By the end I'd had enough 😕 ill report back if dust is an issue. Will this work for your plans Les?

    • @DENMONKEY

      I've never had an issue with it but this question of how to do it is probably my most asked question over the years. So I figured I should do it when I found a solution. So it was more fit everyone else rather than for me. To be honest I've never even used it since the install and forgot it was even there. I'm going out to test it still works. 😁

    Thanks for your intro. I found my rear door unlock (by key) get stucked after this handle installed and it already happened twice. Do you have the same experience?

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean by remote or by using the key ? Mine doesn't have a key over the back so I've not had any issues unlocking. The remote unlock is working and I've not had any issues at all opening the rear door since the install

      Some people who are camping in the back of their Pajero and want to get out through the back door have asked me if I knew a way to open the door from inside. This should work for them.

    Hi, Iv just bought a gen4 pajero ns 2007 model. It has 4m40 engine with 4 speed automatic gearbox. Im curious if it is possible to replace it with a 5 speend automatic gearbox taken out of a 4m41 engine. Please advice

    • @DENMONKEY

      Sorry mate, no idea. That's outside of my expertise. Hopefully someone will see this and let you know

    • @raymondnecke5806
      @raymondnecke5806 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 4m40 & 4m41 are effectively the same engine , as long as your floor pan is the same , it should be almost a bolt in job with minor adjustments to use the later g’box but consult a pajero mech

    Thanks for the info Brett. Have you seen this digital speedo from ali express: th-cam.com/video/p21Q8YhbwcY/w-d-xo.html ? May be worth checking out but not cheap. Also do you have a video on your rear box/bed construction? I am thinking of making up something similar. I have one made up of wood but it takes up the entire rear cab of the vehicle. I like the idea of being able to escape to the vehicle when the weather is bad and have a small table/food preparation area. Thanks for making these videos for Pajero owners - much appreciated!
