I’d love to see the videos ! We’re running (4) 550 air scrubbers on a 3000 sq ft home for 10 days! Please share your tips about filter changes and maintenance
Houses are not air tight. There are a million tiny spaces for fresh air to move into the negative pressure space. That is what negative air means. Pull fresh air into a contaminated space. The Hepa filter in the scrubber is so the contaminants do go out the window and into another window.
can you or do you ever use heaters to heat the room up to 150* for 3 hours to kill mold? We have mold in our living quarters and are not sure we want to fog everything with fungicide. What would you choose if it was your living room /bedroom?
you're not getting any air exchanges, you are just ducting the inside air, there is no filter in your containment, how are you getting air exchange? if your confident in your air scrubber then just ducting it outside of the containment should be sufficient. Using a laser air particulate counter can be used to calibrate your air scrubber as well as the reduction in spores in the air. IICRC 44364, MWR/MFSR/MTC and Micro CMI.
I mean killz yea is not to kill mold but if you clean the studs sand etc an there is still some imbedded mold you can always use killz to incapacitate over it or 6000 i prefer
Hi, can you please explain to me when a duct is not necessary? I realize what you said in the video, but I've seen other videos that do not use ducting. What if I seal off a room completely and open a window? Or should I even open the window? I'm genuinely confused right now, as I have done the remediation already. Also, why is it that you are running the scrubber before even completing the remediation (i.e. not wiping down the fridge, etc)? Thanks.
The duct tape will tear the paint off the door trim and damage the flooring as well. No ppe needed to enter that chamber haha. You can also use the fan from the air scrubber to dry with.
mold has been on the earth since day 1...and can never be eliminated from the air we breathe...so right after remediation and as soon as the window is opened...mold is reintroduced...mold will grow anywhere and on anything if the right conditions exist...the goal is to remove the conditions for mold to grow...mold loves water, moisture, dampness, etc..and hates heat, sunlight, sodium hypochlorite, etc...if there is an ongoing moisture problem in the house then the 1st step is eliminate the moisture..(dehumidification) .Kilz applied will contain the existing mold spores but agreed will not prevent new mold spores from coming back
Maybe they meant Zinsser brand instead of Kilz. Zinsser has a primer that says in huge letters MOLD KILLING primer on the label. Says to apply directly over mold and mildew surfaces. Get it at Lowes or most paint stores.
How do you dry a space or surface that has been treated and still has high moisture readings? Do the air scrubbers provide drying or is another type of fan or dehumidifier needed? How long does it take to dry a room or mold area?
Hi, I am a carpenter but not an expert remediatior. I suggest providing an ongoing solution, so perhaps running a dehumidifier on auto function. It will turn on whenever moisture comes above a certain level. Which, it will. Moisture will always rise in an area where it was previously.
Had a company come out with a hepa like yours but they didn’t duct it out at all, just let it run for two days and wife and I have had bronchial issues since this was done. Did they do this incorrectly?
@@PistolPfn But you're expelling good fresh filtered air. That makes no sense. Just leaving it run is fine because it filters the particles out of the air.
@@hook-x6f like i said its not mandatory to duct out but it is better to send the air outside these scrubbers are not cleaning 100% and these particle counts can be in the billions at times
Thank you for the video, my company is working on a asbestos abatement video, for educational reasons only. Is there a chance to get some of your videos and would it be ok to use it as clips in our videos? Thank you ahead of time
If its filtering the air why are you venting it outside. Seems that that would make the inside air quality would stay crap. The incoming air would come through airgaps wichay have mold. I get the negative pressure stoping it from spreading to the other parts of the house
It’s to create negative pressure in the room and dispose of any potentially harmful particles that the 99.97% hepa filter doesn’t capture. Think of it as creating a draft and that draft helps pull more air into the unit to clean
With the gold standard being mold removal only, not trying to “kill” it with anything and with people like a Cheryl Seiko architect on TH-cam saying the mold sealer only works as long as it is dry and nothing prevents mold from growing on it again if it becomes wet. I’m wondering why you use the mold killer and sealer. Is it just to kill and seal and slow any new left over or new growth or perhaps of molds that don’t need water and just love on moisture fluctuations in the air.
I have the Defend Air 500 but it won’t run it has power to the board and DRI-EAZ says it might be the fan switch or possibly the fan motor itself. Have you ever seen this issue with yours. Does Ozone kill mold?
The idea is never to “kill” the mold but remove it so even if the ozone did kill mold effectively it isnt cleaning, dead mold spores are just as dangerous as live ones, once inhaled its in your body for life blocking the immune system essentially
For what? The airscrubber? $400-1200 depending. The one he is using is a HEPA500, you can get them for a few hundred dollars. They use an internal filter which actually filters the mold and then you can use 1-2 16x16x1 filters to help bigger stuff so the internal isnt getting caked. Poly tubing (layflat) is likw $50-60 a roll. 6 mil plastic even though you can get away with 4 can be at home depot for like $75. Which that is used for the door containment and you can buy the zippers at a home depot too. You can use zip ties if you dont want to use duct tape. For the window, youd use a thin board. Youd cut it to size, tape it on the window frame and then tape and staple the plastic onto the board. Youre looking at paying $900-1000 just to start this process with one airscrubber.
bingo. Got a 22k estimate for a little mold remediation from a water leak in a half bath haha. If you're really worried buy the $600 air scrubber yourself and $600 hepa bosch vacuum and do this shit yourself with ppe on. Tossed the estimate in the trash in front of the scam artist pulling out of the driveway.
@@LB-kg2xh Yeah dude that's what I ended up doing. I had something similar happen to me...Leak above bathroom and a separate issue behind the shower where the water was seeping through the grout. Got a couple estimates and one company said I had to get the mold tested in a lab before they can get an estimate which would be like $500... I'm like what does it matter what kind of mold it is if it's all treated the same way? Then they gave me some bullshit answer and closed with "so in total you're looking at around 6-7K". That same day I found someone who did it for 1500 and did way more than I expected... So many scams out there lol
I'm just curious, Why do you filter the air before expelling it outside? And do you ever just filter the air in the effected area without any ducting? If you are venting the filtered air outside, Are you also pumping new fresh air into the area or at least have an open window to let new air come in? Thanks

I'd love some videos on routine maintenance and cleaning of the equipment/filters
Yes! Please do a video on filter change, equipment maintenance and air changes per hour. Thank you for your videos!!
Love to see the air scrubber cleaning video!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Thank you!
I definitely would like to see how to use and maintain the machine!

Hey bud looking good 👍
I’m interested on the video. Currently bought a hippa 500 and I would like to know how long I leave it on.
Seems like a pretty mild amount of mild growth. What do you clean/treat it with?
He answered that question in the video. Benefact Deacon 30
@@pioneerhomefarms this is a great product my company used the same thing
wow I didn't know that about Killz
What did you quote them? I live in Rock Island Illinois and a company quoted me $14,500 for a one day job
