How does an aftermarket antenna such as this srh320a affect submersibility? My use case requires me to have a radio that can survive heavy tropical rains hence my concern on aftermarket antennas
Good Morning Matt, I have to reset my Yaesu VX-6 and I do have that Diamond SRH320A on my radio. It works great. Is the Comet HT-224 better then the Diamond. Thank you for sharing Matt.
Good morning Janice. Oh no reset the VX-6? Were you having bad audio? I know when I had the FT-60R I had the audio sound garbled and needed to reset the processor to fix it. Both the HT-224 and SRH320A are comparible but I will do a video comparison of both soon with some readings from the NanoVNA! Thanks for watching!
@@n3vanradio No audio problems Matt, I just want to start over with it and take off the programming I did on it. I need to learn how to program the repeaters in my area just using the radio. Do you know if you lose anything by reseting the radio to factor settings? Thank you again Matt.
Reseting will wipe memories and reset the processor. Nothing else should be effected on your radio. Manually entering repeaters is fairly easy with the VX-6R. There are a few videos on TH-cam as well as websites that show you but I may make a video if people are interested.
THANK YOU!
I have a 6R and am ordering one of these after work today.
Can you do a demo of the signal stick. See if NOAA comes in better?
Sure! I planned on doing an HT antenna review and comparison using the NanoVNA and testing reception like I did in this video. Stay tuned!
When you have the Diamond antenna on the ht, do you loose the "waterproof-ness" of the radio?

@@n3vanradio Thank you Matt, sounds like a plan.
Yup. Just make sure to buy it through HRO. Best chance not to receive a Chinese fake.
Thanks for showing us your Ham Sack. I mean Ham Shack. 🤷🏻♀️
