  • This video is for people that are looking at buying their very first kart want to get familiar with what they look like up close in case they don't have access to one. The karts shown here are Tony & Sodi Karts. The engines are a KA100 and VLR100. Some of the things shown are going to be different depending on which engine package the kart you're looking at has.
    Leave a questions below and we'll try to get them answered for you. Thanks for watching!

    Another video suggestion is to do a cost comparison between a season of rental karting and the cheapest season of private owner karting (i.e. buying a used chassis and engine in the Tillotson 225RS or Briggs LO206) at a track like DKC or NTK. Judging by the increasing size of rental racing fields, there's a lot of people who want to purchase and own a kart, but the sizable gulf in cost is holding them back from doing so.

      This is a great idea. Maybe I'll do one at the end of the year and try to compare the costs over the last 3 years since I've been tracking those costs.

    This was very helpful I’m looking at getting into karting even through I’m 18 haha and haven’t seen a kart up close beforehand. I would like a video more on senior rotax because that’s the class that suits me but if not then alg :)

    A Mychron 5 vs. Alfano 6 comparison would also be a great video topic!

    Good vid. I'm in the market for a kart for my pre-teen kid. She spent a year in the K1 speed G.P. races and wants to step up to real karts. I think we will start with an LO206. Just researching a few different supported chassis in my area. What do you think of the OTK STV-450 ? . More please, thanks.

    Here is a good question, for LO206, which pump gas would be preferred? Standard or Premium? 87 or 93 Octane.

    Very Nice video on parts and comparing the two 👍
    I just recently bought a Kosmic frame and alot of parts, I'm just learning about them, my kart is very similar to the Tony kart, frame and parts wise, what is the gold piece on the engine side for? The one opposite I see is for the exhaust mount.

    • @douglashubbs
      @douglashubbs ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All the OTK brands are exactly the same karts, yours included, just different colors and graphics. The bracket on the right is just an extra exhaust bracket that is used for other engine packages, like the Rotax stuff.

    hey quick question: I'm getting a Vortex VLR motor right now and was wondering if the exhaust comes with a port for the EGT sensor or do you need to drill your own hole?

    • @douglashubbs
      @douglashubbs ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it is a new pipe, it has a bung welded to it, but you will need to drill a hole inside the bung so the sensor will go in.

    I’m in the Dallas area. Interested in getting into running my own kart. What would you say I would be looking at as a yearly budget to run a kart at DKC? Also what would you recommend as a first kart for an adult? I’ve run rental karts several times but I’m itching to get into ownership sometime

      I have a video talking about which is a good first kart to get - LO206 or KA100. Are you looking at racing or just practicing?

    For someone who has done a bit of rental cart racing, wanting to get their own cart, i have a couple questoins. How long did it take you to get tired of the 206 class and want to go to the ka100, and then to the shifter kart etc. Im looking at getting one here, and the 206 has more racing available, but i just think im gonna need to feed the addiction with more speed after not much time at all.
    basically, if you know you wanna go as fast as possible at one point, should you still start wit the 206?

    • @IllegalAlienRacing
      @IllegalAlienRacing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad I started in the 206, it wasn't overwhelming and taught me how to drive smoother. It took a few months before I got tired of driving it by myself but I kind of get bored driving my KA100 by myself right now unless I'm really working at something. It's all about driving with other people after you figure out how to drive your kart by yourself. 206 is just fine if you have others to drive or race with. A shifter was tons of fun but I definitely wouldn't start there unless you have prior car racing or MX experience. You're so busy when you're driving those, that trying to learn your lines, braking, etc. at the same time when you know nothing is too much. Good luck!

    What would be the best kart for a guy like myself that is 6'4" and weighs 245? Can anyone steer me in the right direction. I am looking to start out in the 100cc ka100/VLr100 class or maybe even the DD2 shifter cart class. There is a new kart track that is opening up in my County in Tennessee called the Flatrock Motorsports Park. It is a state of the art new designed track for Karting and road racing. Believe this or not. They are using part of my families land that was sold back in 2000 that has been in my family for over 150 years to build the track. I am wanting to buy a racing kart to race on the land I used to hunt and camp on. Any advice will be appreciated.
