  • Having held on to a point at Home Park, Rowett's side returned to Grenoble Road for the first time in 2025 for the visit of John Eustace's Blackburn Rovers. The reverse fixture saw The Riversiders come from behind after a goal of the season contender from Mark Harris to pick up the points. This game saw the full debut of newly arrived Polish centre-back Michal Helick after his arrival from Huddersfield the day before to partner Ciaron Brown. The hosts started the better, but were unable to make it count. The visitors grew back into the first half and a brilliant save from Jamie Cumming kept the scores level. Into the second half, and neither side were able to find the final ball to create the opener, with Harris unable to beat Rovers #.1 from close range. That was until, Brannagan's through ball found Siriki Dembele on the run towards the Blackburn area. The Scotsman was brought down in a sandwich between two Rovers defenders and a foul was awarded. Vaulks considered it, but at the 20 yard distance from goal, only one man was gonna take it. Brannagan thumped the ball into the top right corner with potential minor deflection from the wall beating Pears to send everyone is Yellow mad. The visitors were unable to out together an effort that would trouble Jamie Cumming, and as the full-time whistle blew, Oxford picked up and big three points in their quest for survival. We go through the key moments, underlying numbers, discuss Helick's debut, and more.
