One of my most memorable experiences sitting in with a band as a guest, was playing with Azymuth in Seattle's Rainbow Tavern , early 1980's when Seattle was the first stop in thier first international tour. My congas and percussion case was still in the tavern / club from the weekend befor and I knew Azymuth was comming...I was hoping to lay with them and Ivan ( the drummer ) was so friendly and welcoming to me, he let me play the entire show wth them. ( of course I kew most the music from owning their Lp's ) So the trio became a quartet that weekend and I was in musical Heaven !
I'm from Seattle, I NEVER heard of Azymuth, until a few years ago....feel ripped off!! Ive bought everything I could find from their output. I bet you were in music heaven...Awesome..
Amazing story! I remember he used to play every Sunday in a club 2 blocks away from my house. He used to sit on the drums with his back leaning on a short metal fence that was the only obstacle between him and the curb. I could literally stretch my neck a bit and see everything he was doing over his shoulders. It was the best sit in the house and I didn't even have to pay for it! The best thing a 15 yo broken drummer can dream about.
Azymuth (original musicians) .... so grateful I was lucky enough to discover their beautiful music and their super-original sound ! Bless them. BTW, this lineup also sound excellent !!!
Love these guys!❤️❤️❤️ Pardido Alto is on my next repertoire for our concerts! Listen to all of the versions, even Airto, but nothing like you guys! Don't stop this TH-cam concerts! Can we be your audience?
Very Cool band ! Glad that they are still playing together... I have enjoyed listening to their music since the early 80's while studying Jazz music at the Ohio State University of the school of music. I love all their albums great band,I can't say enough about them, and how much I was influenced by their great bass player !
Eu vi o Azymuth no Museu de Arte Moderna no Rio logo depois que eles lancaram o LP Aguia Nao Come Mosca. Foi um barato. Nunca mais me esqueci daquele dia.
these guys are so great to see and meet!!they have singelhanded created a whole new genre that has its influence on generations afterwords, bands like incognito, jamiroquai and the whole acid jazz scene in the 90's was due to the rediscovery of these guys amazing music from the 70's
Like so much Azymuth and i got here from looking at a Video of Marcus Valle ,Lucky to Find them Playing in the Boiler Room ,got a lot of catching up 2 do ,Nice One Giles Peterson :)
Aleuda fue percusionista y vocalista de Azymuth en el LP (CD) Light as a Feather y ha trabajado también con Marcos Valle que redundando un poco, de una canción de este ultimo este grupo toma su nombre
Wouu this is one of my preferred brazilian fusion band. I love their music, indeed I made in the past a couple of video clip arranging some pieces in my way. I'm very happy their are still around. Hoping they will come soon or later in Europe.
