Still cool to see I also have a highsider and I’ve been wanting to get a 20hp mercury efi so I’ve been wanting to see how a highsider would preform with a similar size engine
I wake up this morning, grind my coffee beans, make myself a cup of coffee, sit down and see a notification of a new video from SALTxTHExWOUND. 😎👊 One more thing I would love to do is boating but just don't have the time/money. Looks like you have pretty much an ideal setup now with that new motor. Seems to be a great fit with your gheenoe! I don't know if those were fish or 'gators that were surfacing but I was thinking the same thing as you.....you need your fishing pole. 😁 .....and I agree, having tether/kill switch is a great idea. Thanks for sharing and keep yourself safe. 😃👍❤️🏍 Randy
Thank you Randy, I appreciate you always watching and commenting! Boating is fun but can be VERY expensive, if I weren’t into bikes also I would probably get a much bigger boat but this gheenoe honestly does everything I need it to except offshore fishing, but that’s what friends boats are for 😂
Great video,Got the same motor, fantastic build quality and very reliable and easy to maintain, a life jacket would be good too, so many guys doing videos with no life jackets on, just speaking from experience, stay safe pal.
Some say tohatsu efi does not start on the first pull even when warm, but looks like it starts here in this video. Does 20hp start on the first when warm?
Hello from Tampa Florida. My favorite fish to catch is speckled trout. Lately I've been more and more simplifying my fishing gear. I have a Do-it Midwest finesse Ned mold. I have narrowed it down to two or three colors. Fancy is nice butt I don't think the fish really care.
Somehow US people hate smaller properboats but love to put oversized engines on jon boats and canoes. But I have to admit it must be fun. I have the Tohatsu MFS 20 which is basically the same motor on a 14' Orkney Coastliner and agree on it being a great engine.
It’s definitely a lot of fun! My new boat is rated for 25hp and I only put a Yamaha f25 on it for insurance purposes. It does 30mph though which I’m happy with
I actually bought the mfs 20 because of the weight 25hp on almost all manufacturers is the same motor as 30hp and more I currently tow the setup with a Nissan Micra wich is almost illegal :)@@SALTxTHExWOUND
That's flying, I recently bought a Merc 9.9, mounted on transom, getting about 21-22mph loaded up battery and trolling motor. I wanted to go bigger but I was concerned about the weight.
Yeah when I had my merc 9.9 on here I was hitting 24 top speed but cruising around 20-22mph. These new 4 strokes are pretty light, I believe Tohatsu makes the lightest one, Tohatsu makes mercury too if I’m not mistaken. Mine weighs 97 lbs, my merc 9.9 weighed only 67 lbs but was a 2-stroke. What do you have yours on?
Well done vid! Remember, riding alone is not the best thing to do (it does have it's merit) However, a tight PFD would be best for you to wear on these solo trial runs. Stick-around for years to come, we enjoy your channel & your personality man! "SUBSCRIBED" God Bless!
I JUST put a new 15hp elec.start efi on my Gheenoe! My first trip was about 46 miles on 2 and 3/4 gallons of gas....my top speed so far is 24 mph.....BUT I have a 100ah 12v battery and terova troll motor in front and livescope also....I LOVE not mixing gas and oil anymore! I need a motor support like yours...where or how did you get it? Thanks for the GREAT video?
That is awesome! I am loving this motor, very fuel efficient and starts right up with easy, very quiet also! The jack plate will definitely help you gain a little more top end and be able to run skinnier water also. Here's the link to the one I bought, and if you do a youtube search there's a video of a guy installing it and tells you everything you need to know. Good luck! www.vancemfg.com/shop-view-products/jack-plates/manual-jack-plates/0-20-horse-power/
how many pulls does that tohatsu 15 take to start from cold? I had a 20hp version and it would be like 3-4 pulls which was annoying compared to another much older 2 strokeI have which is usually 1st pull from cold.
Have you put this motor onto your new LT10? I have the same LT10 as you and same motor… was wondering what kind of speeds you were getting so I could compare
Awesome thanks! You ever run into issues with high revving? With how light these boats are my 15hp is having that issue so I gotta imagine the 20hp must do it even more.
@@SALTxTHExWOUND Yea this video helped my buy mine lol I couldnt believe how fast, however I cant really get it wide open or i'll porpoise and lose control, but I dont like having hydrofoils either or drilling into motors lol its still quick as hell, with two people runs best
I just picked up a 2021 Tohatsu 15hp efi outboard. Power is good, but I could use a little more hp. Does anyone know if there's a way to convert the 15hp to 20hp?
Bro, I have a 500rw esprit v8 tt and sold a 1,000rw c6 a year ago and currently have a C4 zr1 and an 89 esprit turbo and I get more thrills out of my West Marine rib310 with a merc 9.9 with a 15hp carb.. that does 29 super sketchy mph 😂😂 I need to make a Chanel for sketchy light portable boats
Thanks! I don't feel like it was over powered but the 4 stroke was definitely pushing the weight limit for the highsider. I have since bought an LT10 and I run that same 15hp on the new boat and it is a much better fit. I get 29mph solo and 25mph with a passenger on the new boat.
