- Bob Burgess & Al Birmingham of "The HAUNTED" performing on CFCF-TV's "Class of '64". The Haunted were our nemesis in "The DUCKS". Everywhere we toured people would tell us that there was this other band that were into the same head-space as us! We bought the record & immediately understood..........
Bob Burgess - Lead Vocal & Harmonica
Al Birmingham - Lead Guitar
Corky Laing (Mountain) - Drums
John Pimm - rhythm Guitar
Nanette Workman - Maracas
Marty Butler - Bass
Tim Hewlings - Keys
Hosted by: Dean Hagopian
I discovered this in the 21st century and I absolutely love this song. It is one of my favourites
Damn good shit. I am 70 and am fortunate to hear this.
what a great song. loved it in the Sixties, still love it now!
I remember these guys...very underrated...great stuff!!!
Back when music was good, music was great, and music meant something...
Years later still excellent performance
Super hot ! Good old Canadian Garage Rock !😊👍🎸🎼🎶🎵
"Nothing to lose ... you're at a Penny Arcade." How cool.🤙🙂
I've been fortunate to see most of my favorite songs performed live, but this is not one I ever expected to see after the fact. Thank you for sharing!
Brings back great memories of listening to my 6 transitor radio tuned into CFOX, Dean Hagopian, or, Dave Boxer, CFCF. That is Dean Hagopian announcing The Haunted.
This is absolutely FABULOUS FABULOUS FABULOUS! Thank you!!!
His voice is still the same. Superb!
They sound great.🙂
BTW, who in the hell would ever give this thumbs down? Those three must be some losers who just hate real rock & roll...
This is friggin' AWESOME. Never knew this tape existed.
I discovered these guys watching an old video (really, a filmed promotional reel. It was the 60s after all.) I was blown away. The garage sound back in the day was something I'd never really given a chance. But, man, it had EVERYTHING! Blues, rock, great vocals! It was an amazing time for you guys lucky enough to have lived through it. I envy you. (By the way, I'm not Canadian. It just came up when I was looking up 60s rock one night in a TH-cam search. You guys up north have a LOT of talent living there.)
Love your comment man. Perfect!
The Haunted, The Rabble, Our Generation, The Staccatos and a lot of French Canadian bands that were equally good (Les Classels, etc). We had lots of good local music.
Fantastic! I heard the cover version by The Fuzztones a few years back and thought it was great. I then found the the original by The Haunted and was just blown away! It's a real gem, great song. Makes me smile just to hear it.
This is better than the Fuzztones. It just has the magic!
Very nice.
Damn, still a banger
I got turned onto this track on Pebbles 1 ca. 1978-79 and now own both the original 45 and the LP in Mint condition after much searching. This is simply the high bar for grungy 60's garage with snotty vocals and stinging guitar. As a vinyl collector for 50 yrs and a vinyl-only DJ, playing this loud on a decent stereo still gets the pulse moving. For those who don't have the LP or the singles, there is other killer stuff. These guys were the real deal. Check out Searching for my baby, which I also have on a mint 45 and DJ with regularly: th-cam.com/video/JW-EVCvcMac/w-d-xo.html
Wish I had seen their reunion gig!
@tundratunes Ditto re Pebbles/Nuggets. l agree about the high bar - l could name any number of 60s ‘Grounded’ The Syn, ‘Save My Soul’ Wimple Winch, ‘War or Hands of Time Master’s Apprentices’, ‘Once Before’ The Remains, 80s revival ‘Get Along Girl’ The Sick Rose, ‘25Th Hour’ Lime Spiders, ‘One Step Closer to You’ Miracle Workers, and contemporary 60s punk etc.
1-2-5 absolutely nails it - to me it’s the quintessential psych song. And with that wild harmonica doing what keyboards would generally do. A couple of friends and l would collect obscure 60s psych in the early 8os, taking mixed tapes to parties, replacing the stuff being played, and lifting the f*cking roof off…we thought that we were so cool! We had such a good time getting people up and moving! What would a few of your other top toons be?
And Re the vinyl, the setup that we have - vintage gear from second-hand shops & restored by a guy we know and with my partner’s grandparents’ speakers housing serious new gear - really rocks!
One of my all time favorite songs. Still have the 45 on Quality and still play it.
Absolutely the best!
Thank you!
I saw then in 1969 or 1970 at the Autostade along with many other bands. They were great. They played a lot of Hendrix tunes.
You guys still got it... super song
brilliant!
What a fantastic band Work man John was there when you recorded it ..
Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These guys really rock it man!
i bought an airstream years ago, knew it was kismet cause there were stickers on that said 125. KISMET!!
Great, great classic (punk) rock song!
One of my favourites from the 1960s. + the TV host was lead singer of the Ugly Ducklings (if I'm not mistaken)
I think you are mistaken, L.S.O.
His name is Dean Hagopian.............
@@Nothin66 i remember him!! sorry
He was lead singer in the Ottawa group The Staccatos.
Also a radio DJ in Montreal and an actor.
keith crozier he was a DJ. Still an actor. Never in Staccatos or FMEB
I wrote this song. The problem is that the Haunted wrote it first.
they sure have get over here to the uk u guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Original drummer was the coolest guy on the planet. This guy is a poodle headed meatball. Still worth seeing.
Original drummer iconic
This song is "haunted" 😁
West Island rules
Montreal, before invasion.....
As my life turns to shit rock and roll throws me a lifeline😎👍
Louie Louie?
W'UZZAW!
why 1-2-5 is it the number of a bus line in montreal
125 is the airline numerical reference for British Airways,,Perhaps a nod towards British rock.
@@aryanscience no way they are a band from Montreal in the 60 s and never had money for planes, the song seems to be about a guy who with his 5 dollar bill had enough $ to get laid...the 125 bus line passed thru the heat of montreal....who knows great song
@@josephskyrie You're probably right as in the 60's it was still BOAC and their numerical reference was 061
Cool song....but not as cool as the presenters hair style
