I believe that the red of the Redhorn that Tolkien was describing is known as alpenglow. Samwise confused the Redhorn with being the 'fiery mountain' of the volcano that I tried to make a deep red to orange alpenglow for a sunrise on Caradhras before resolving into dawn. LOTRO doesn't actually show a red mountain in the game world, just the purple foredawn gradually flowing into bright yellow dawn. Artistic license.

Gandalf and Aragorn were such good, close friends. You can see how deeply Gandalf trusts Aragorn's woodcraft--which differs from Legolas' skills. Aragorn's familiarity with Hollin was a very valuable thing. Gandalf's instructions from the Valar are also clear, as he acts as guide but not really leader of the Fellowship. Decisions are made democratically, after discussion and debate. A lot could be learned from Tolkien's portrayal of how people should act in an allied group.

I appreciate your point of view. You get me thinking. I think as a ranger, Aragorn is in his own element that he redeems his own appreciation value. But as a king, I think Aragorn is struggling to find his own feet in this chapter and Gandalf is both building him up and breaking him down to shape him for the role. It's a confidence eroder when people don't agree with the decisions you've made as the leader, and you have to decide if their objections are personal or practical before you alter your planned course. I wouldn't call that a democracy. But I would still call Gandalf the leader of the fellowship in that Aragorn brings the information to the group and it's Gandalf who decides that the campground party is over and they need to set the watch. And Boromir... slept through that scene, already tired out from blowing his horn to make his own objections known, but that was personal. Later, Boromir gets practical.

@@lotrfanhome I can understand that view. Aragorn was certainly confident as a swordsman, tracker, and chieftain of the Dunedain, as they were his people and he had been raised in Rivendell, well-educated by one of the wisest beings in Middle-Earth.
I know few people knew Gandalf's true nature, but perhaps Aragorn did and deferred to a maia. It would certainly explain well why Aragorn felt so inadequate as the Fellowship's leader after Gandalf fell in Moria--who would be able to feel confident, following in an angel's footsteps?
Regardless, excellent work with the videos. I've played LotRO since beta, and the game is so thorough and detailed in landscape and characters that you can essentially use it as 95% of your material.

Lol, that's the hope. Thanks for your appreciation. Eleven years as a player here. Getting good character models and poses is the challenge, not the settings. I have nearly zip for Merry and Pippin in these winter clothing costumes that it's like another Barliman Butterbur to craft a pose for them.
      *Spoiler alert*
As for an "angel", "Valar", "maia", as the Tolkien Professor pointed out in one of his episodes for this chapter, he's not one anymore. Gandalf is stuck in a human body trying to do things the human way to be their guide in Middle-earth that he can't melt snow with his fire at Legolas's suggestion. Humans do it better, at being human anyway, but they don't know it yet. Legolas can walk on snow to find the sun, but can he make a path through the snow to get the hobbits and pony out? Rather than use the higher beings, they needed the taller beings to make an effective escape route.
As for Aragorn's confidence in leading the men of the northern region of Arnor, he's already established there. But the region of Gondor is like an acquisition territory for him. He could barely acquire the Shire, begging to be let into their fellowship to guide the hobbits to Rivendell until Gandalf's letter to Frodo made the difference. What will make the difference to Boromir, who he's just as much of a stranger to? So far, Boromir does not seem to be impressed.
