It’s amazing that with such crazy prices for cars in Singapore , and with such a comprehensive MRT system to facilitate ease of intra-country transportation, people are not phased in paying these exorbitant prices for a car. For the same price of this BYD car in Singapore , you can buy almost 3 bmw 330i sedans in Canada.
True. Car prices in Singapore are by far the highest in the world due to government policy (2/3 of what we're paying is government taxation) to encourage use of public transportation!
Thanks very interesting. Here in Australia the major concern is range anxiety with the distances we travel once you leave the cities with harging stations now being established in country areas, we are paying the price for having a government in place prior to this one who denied the transition to EV's , Had the Atto for 5 months now love it and if you worry about range buy a long extension cord , if you have access to household electricity U can charge your Atto , takes a while also get a charger installed at home cheers and thanks
Thanks for the review. I just ordered my Atto 3 and for all the reasons you mentioned, it is the affordability plus features and a balance of performance that swayed me towards BYD.
❤ thanks. Plus its reliability and keeping our air clean on our roads, in city areas, in housing estates as well as in carparks. I switched to ev for the sake of our environment and the earth. Never-mind about falling in value, in spite of the discipline needed to charge it, intend to use it for ten years. In most enclosed carparks (including the new shopping malls) the air there is full of car exhaust and hot. Not good for anyone working in the carpark. Surely there are people working in car parks. My sympathy goes to them. If visitors with kids take time to find their parked cars, they will also bear the brunt of the situation there. Even in older HDB estates with many ground level flats, and open air car park next to their living rooms, the residents (many not owning cars), would wish more car owners switching to ev, we can see more and more ev chargers being installed there even though many residents themselves are not car owners. Thanks to SP which installs the chargers. Hope SP can also reduce the price of charging. $0.64 per kWh for ac, is a bit too stiff to encourage more people to embrace green energy car. Save our environment and save our earth.
I ordered a BYD Atto3 as a company car about 2 months ago... I wish I would've had a delay, so I could get the new edition of it. I like the black part where the scales used to be. It's at the dealership, but they didn't get the license plates from the insurance company yet :D Can't wait to get my hands on this car! I test drove it twice in April and June (also tried the Seal, but I wasn't comfortable for longer periods of time - didn't know where to put my left foot) and it was so comfortable on the road.

Hey Daren, it's awesome that you've done this review in the night, it really showcases the ambience lighting being in effect! As you owe a Tesla as well, will you be doing a Tesla VS BYD Atto 3 comparison review?
I was looking at so many foreign-based reviews talking about how value-for-money the BYD Atto 3 was, until your video brought me back down to reality of living in Singapore. There are still other brand-new ICE Cat A family cars I could get for a lower price, and they don't even have the environmental rebates from gov. Either BYD should lower their prices in Singapore or Gov't increases the rebates if they want to push more drivers to switch to an electric vehicle.
Best value car you can buy right now. For the same price, you can get a Toyota Altis, lol i’m not sure who would prefer an Altis over this Atto 3, unless you’re a petrol head. Great review Daren
I have a Kia Cerato in 2019 during the low COE price days of COVID, approximately 8k annual depreciation as it was like 80k, thus stop up of like 90k would be the rough atto3 price plus minus. Many friends have recommended me to sell and upgrade to ATTO 3, however economically/value for money, it still seems quite a lift compared to finishing the 10 years and looking to EV next. Wonder if you have any practical thoughts to shift the decision to make sense out of this that I might be missing. Perhaps also maybe the EV landscape will be a little more mature in 2/3 more years perhaps? Thought your reviews have been very pragmatic so love to hear your thoughts.
Ev and ev chargers go hand in hand. The latter would spur (encourage) the growth of the other. The gov plays an important role in ev adoption by the people (by making more ev chargers available).👍 One encouraging example is: the residents of a condo in north point had their "opening ceremony" of their ev chargers with an enlightening speech by a VIP (a minister). We can already see more efforts in harvesting of solar energy in many parts of our land (maybe even at the sea) and the foresight in going nuclear energy. Clean energy drive by our Gov or at corporate front is of little use if cars are moving around our living areas and city like individual burning stoves giving out exhaust gases and generating heat individually.
Good to also highlight the difference in charging speed here. AC max 7kW and DC max 80kW actually should be a factor for those planning routines. IMO, 7kW is a bit too slow.
Not sure why, but since weight comes to mind when it comes to an EV, I ended up getting distracted and concentrating more on those thin columns/pillars holding up the beams of the carpark this review is recorded at...
Some personal discipline is needed. I have gotten used to it now. A nice reliable car. For people where there are ev chargers in their carparks, slow AC chargers are ok. Charge the car regularly near home after work. Discipline to vacate the charging lot to be considerate to others. The charger app is helpful. HDB dwellers in the ground floor would love ev owners. 2 questions: 1. What happens if you overcharge this car? 2. Can the in-car map function on its own without connecting to our mobiles? I was under the impression they had a built-in GPS capability.
There are, but they are currently at the bottom of the list of Chinese EVs. The car with the highest level of autopilot in China is Huawei's Aito M9 (which is close in price to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class), which does the whole thing without a human taking over (but is required by law to sit in the driver's seat), and is the highest selling premium car in China every month, and is an absolute dominant player in the premium market, similar to Mercedes-Benz's position. By the way, byd is the dominant player in China's low and mid-range market, similar to Toyota.
odd to see BYD doesn't have automatic parking when they had the key fob remote years before James Bond's BMW had it in the movie 😊 you just come to expect so much from chinese brands technology-wise nowadays
Is it true that to prolong the battery life, do not charge above 80% and charge when the battery reaches 20%? So technically the real usage is only 60%, meaning travel distance is about 264km. Furthermore, battery power usually drops as the years go by, so the distance for 60% will drop to say 200km..Right? How long is the battery warranty? Most give a 7 years warranty. So meaning 7th year I need to change the battery, what is the cost? Maybe on the 5th year, I will have to change the battery cos I will hate charging it every night.

ARF? You mean PARF is zero. Can always buy an ICE car and pay ARF upfront and get back 50% of it after 10 years and compare the overall cost of the car. Don’t forget to discount NPV of the ARF you pay upfront. EV has pays discounted ARF (in many cases zero since OMV is less than $25k, which is the rebate limit) hence PARF is zero.

Isn’t it EV has better range in city driving compared to highway? Do frequent start-stop reduce its range alot? It would also be great to interview owners their experience, especially from PHV point of view. 👍🏼
Yes, I own an Atto 3 and can confirm that in city driving you get better range due to regenerative braking where a certain amount power is restored to the battery each time you brake. This applies to all EVs and I would assume PHEVs too.
I think stop start is more an issue with ice cars where stop/start consumes more energy burning more fossil fuel other than acceleration. Whereas Ev with electric motor starts instantly, only some extra energy for acceleration is needed which may be somewhat compensated through regeneration.
It is ok, for environment sake. It is a reliable car. Also some personal discipline needed in charging the car. I have gotten used to it. I intend to use it for 10 years. If i cant afford it later on, i would switch to public transport. ❤

It’s not really cheap. We are not getting the latest platform and tech. China EV are dumping older generation on us Asia but giving Europe their best. This Atto3 is only good for school run, low speed and dry weather. Try driving this to Kuala Lumpur, irrespective of dry or wet weather its rear gonna swing if you are not careful accelerating. I love the on board voice assistant, a sweet lady voice and beautiful English. ❤ This makes driving the car never a boring moment.
I don't regret buying this car a year ago, before the upgrade and also at a higher price. I am Happy for the new owners who get the upgrade.
With more people switching to EV (regardless of brand), those HDB flats ground floor dwellers with car park lots next to their home would be rejoicing.🎉 🎉🎉🎉
@@hanmeng4833 I concur with you regarding switch to EV. Singapore is the ideal place for that, IMO.
The same should also be done for motorbikes. Quiet, no bad fumes.
@@krollpeter❤
This is a selling like hot cake at SG because you can always use this pick up line with this car….i have g-strings in my car, would you like to try them out ? 🤣😂🤣
I keep telling my dad to get a Model Y, he said nope and bought an Atto3 ...
Model Y is like wearing the same boring shirt as everyone else… i like BYD, excellent cost vs benefits
@@bobbyus I know I have a BYD Seal. Why do you think I want my dad to buy a Model Y : P
@@ricosun simple...superficial believer in branding.
When you'll grow up you can buy your own Model Y 😁
Top selling cars? Do they sell more cars then Toyota ?
Yes, for the past 3 months
Singapore should make EV car cheaper to encourage people to buy EV car...
by this time, money might not be the key...
Ev and ev chargers go hand in hand. The latter would spur (encourage) the growth of the other. The gov plays an important role in ev adoption by the people (by making more ev chargers available).👍
We can already see more efforts in harvesting of solar energy and the foresight in going nuclear energy. Clean energy drive by our Gov or at corporate front is of little use if cars are moving around our living areas and city like individual burning stoves giving out exhaust gases and generating heat individually.
Brakes are not good at highway speed, especially during hyroplaning. Scare the hell out of you. Lane centring BYD calls it, but it is terrible at corners. In terms of driving dynamics, China cars are still way behind.
Is this a china car?
Yes!
gov earn too much from COE
Guess who is responsible for the actual premiums? Unlike road tax, the government don’t control the COE premiums. 😂
@@CalvinK-the_old_fogey government don't control over the COE premiums.. you buy that? who controls the COE quota? lol
@@lanlantulan do you even know how the quota was calculated? Are you even old enough to remember once the COE was $50? Do you know how that happened? Think first lah, don’t everything also blame government 😂
@@CalvinK-the_old_fogey which word did i use to blame the government?? my statement of facts is just a rebuke to your incorrect sentence that government does not control the COE premiums. everyone knows that the impact of government control COE quota affects the COE premiums. This is not a blame! it is a factual.
@@lanlantulan COE quota depends on the average de-registration of the past 12 months. Government never force you to de-register, it’s the consumer’s behaviour. The bidding price is dependent on car traders’ behaviour and buyers’ desperation, not government again. Government only determines the growth of vehicles and it is a long-term policy to be car-lite. So if you think about it, you should blame car buyers and not government. 😂
Nice video, how about cooperation with us?
Videoman can do better😅
Wow❤❤
It’s not “build your dreams”. The car company name is call Bi Ya Di. As a car enthusiast channel, you should at least get the manufacturer name right.
lol it is Build your dreams.. you sound ridiculous when you try to reason when the answer is in their homepage
Fair point; Build Your Dreams is an advertising tag line rather than the company name. ☮️
Love BYD but the interior looks dated and untasteful
just your preference, the interior is fine
just like everything else we have our preference but doesnt means what we dont like its not good
Why you need to point out his preference when clearly he is pointing out his own view...yes it is ugly in atto3 and that is my view too.
@@wensiangfong and? Nothing wrong you said so and nothing wrong I point that out unless you can't take it
It is totally matter of preference. I own atto 3 and M3. Both nice car. Importance is EV
EV Resale value only 20 to 40% compare to Petrol car .. explosive battery will kill u for seriously accident. ... Please won't recommend EV...
What a biggest joke!!! Only China Made electric cars costs S$152000..so expensive.. Van get a Ferrari in The US. JOKE!!!
BYD is BETTER.....I hate my minimalist M3
Then sell your M3 and get 2 BYD.
@JAM-fm8lt I think he meant BYD M3...took me awhile to wrap my head around it too 😅
It is "MADE IN CHINA".
Yes, it is. So are our iPhones and Teslas!
@@DarenYoong Precisely, myself never purchase any i-phones and those e-Vehicles, Made in China. Now, with i-phones made outside of PRChina, may consider to buy one !.
Yeah, you should buy those made in india, suits you well
D U M- B Comment
@@spek_ll- Definitely, i love "Made in India", these days. The India workmanship these days are fantastic, highly motivated, whereas Chinese Workers these days are frustrated and cannot work diligently .. as they are concerned at the end of the month they may not receive any salary ..worse may be made redundant. Under such a daily constant pressure ...oneself can imagine the quality of the workmanship and end-products quality standard.

一度电rmb1.5。外边充电加倍。油一升rmb13。一般家庭都是楼房,没有充电条件。
