To a degree yes. Ranks reset at the beginning of each game. Higher ranks allow you to spawn helicopters or tanks if lieutenant or build a living quarters on a base if your sergeant for example. If those are things that don't intrest someone. Then rank doesn't really matter at all.
Oh 100% for 30 bucks. Your getting more content then a 70 dollar game. Lots of massive maps and mods. Moders are constantly coming out with different maps and sinarios. Plus the community is top tier! If you do get it let me know. I have a bunch of friends that have a discord together!
