This video was wonderful thank you for uploading it. At the ripe age of 18 I myself have realized that we don’t really have a meaning or purpose. I think that is why our society is built on continuously chasing things. Most people are never born rich so they typically have a goal that pertains to money and financial stability. But then you have to think about it and then realize that money is just a construct, which is crazy but it gives us all something to work for. When it comes to appreciating life I mean how can we? I feel that appreciation comes with the nagging feeling that you know that things won’t be around forever. Appreciation helps you enjoy things in the moment but then you realize how quickly the days go by. The writer of the play demonstrates how we are cursed yet blessed with so much awareness. In reality if there is nothing after the end of our lives then we won’t have any regrets because as we take on a new day we make choices that feel right in the present moment.
I couldn't agree more. I believe that the pursuit of wealth, prestige, and power distracts every human being from actually enjoying his or her life. Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever completely enjoys his or her life because I feel as if most people are just stuck in the monotony of it all
Also, I think that human beings are cursed and blessed. To appreciate something, I believe you have to step away from it and then observe it. To live, I believe you have to physically and totally live. I don't think you can do both at the same time.
Thanks for the vid. I played George in our High school play 40 years ago. At that time I never grasped the meaning of the play. It seemed like the reality of what the play represented was so far off and something for "old people". As a 16 year old feeling so invincible as if I had so much life to live. That now seems like 5 minutes ago and wow do I really appreciate the meaning of this play now. Thank you for sharing this . Appreciate the moment. Every moment matters.
Reading some of the comments and sad that people see life as so futile. We now as in the present, live in the best of times overall in civilization history. Seize the day!
I love how you connected the play with the 21th century style of living. Keep going with your vids about literature. Long days´s journey into night would be interesting one through your point of view, Stanley
Well, that was depressing, lol. Maybe a comedy might perk you up. Or watching some Eckhart Tolle videos, where he teaches how to really experience life through all of our senses. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.you are appreciated.👋😊
@@stanleystrose Stanley, I had started to read a Charles Bukowski autobiography, and was enjoying the style of writing. I asked you if you’d read him, but you didn’t reply. I kept listening to the book. He became a young man, and his story held nothing I wanted to hear. I don’t know how much of it is true, but before he was twenty, his outlook definitely turned me away. I didn’t even finish the book. So if you come across my question about Bukowski’s writing, please ignore.😊👋
