As a Splinter Cell fan since SC1, I've never seen this Behind the Scenes for Conviction. Honestly this should've been their marketing videos for it. You can see the passion the devs had

I loved playing the coop missions with my cousin, since then I never had a stealth entire section of a game to play (coop), and this one was very cool, today I only play Breakpoint to have the same feeling

The starting interview sections are insane , these people were seriously so out of touch , actually believing they had made a better game than the previous ones.
"When i played the older games , i was pretty frustrated " yeah well you should have never bothered entering this genre then lmao
I wish they had just outright said and admitted that they just wanted to make an action+stealth spin on the series
Instead of trying to act like they did the series some service

On the PC it was a stellar experience ... taking into account that on PC we had "graphic accelerators" back in 2000's and on console everything was pixelated and low res ... so amazing, that´s a bit of a subjective statement

4:17 "The hardcore Splinter Cell fans (...) are gonna really appreciate what we've done"
Hahaha... no we don't ! And it's a shame how back then they've just listened to the feedback that was supporting their vision of the game.

It genuinely makes me sad and frustrated that the original vision for Conviction received the backlash it did (iirc - I guess technical limitations might have been at play as well), leading to changes in the development team and the game´s direction. Because even though it wouldn´t have been a "proper" SC game either, it would´ve most likely been better than what we got, both with more grounded and open gameplay as well as (hopefully) a better story with none of that character bastardisation that the eventual Conviction introduced into the series. At worse, it could´ve been an interesting one-off experiment which - if not received well - would just lead to the series going back to the classic hardcore stealth (as Mathieu Ferland indicated back then). I still wish for some magical change in Ubisoft´s management (or IP ownership) that would lead to that game´s revival and a paralel continuation/retcon that would see Lambert live, Grim being Grim, and all of that story garbage from CV and BL seem like nothing but a bad dream.

@@Rimland23 I completely agree with you. And I hope Ubisoft will understand that Splinter Cell needs to remain Splinter Cell, story-wise, characters-wise and gameplay wise. But with modern Ubisoft execs it's hard to be hopeful...

@@LuckyBide Same here. But yes, it´s hard to be hopeful with how modern Ubi is. Some kind of change is desperately in order...

I miss this 2010 / 2011 damn game along with Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, Ghost Recon, other Splinter Cell games including Blacklist, Cold Fear, etc. A much simpler times long before Ubay-soft went downhill, Now the company that has became a shadow of its former self.

The 2010/2011 era was the beginning of the downhill for Ubisoft, the company already was a shadow of its former self. Games like Conviction/Blacklist and R6 Vegas 1&2 were a let down because they didn't respect the roots of their respective IPs, because Ubisoft started to follow trends to try to cater to the huge casual audience.
The only era when Ubisoft was great and an example for the industry was during the early 2000s with the very first Tom Clancy games, Prince of Persia SoT, Beyond Good & Evil, Far Cry 2 and the 3 first Assassin's Creed games. At that time they were innovative and creating the trends. But after that they just weren't the same anymore.

Im not even that much of a splinter cell fan, I can recognise that there where some grnuinely fun quality games in the series (blacklist chais theory which i own and 1 and pandora tommor) but damn this game was trash together with hitman absolution and thief 201x. These 3 mustve been the biggest letdowns for me of gen7

Double Agent 6th gen version was also great.
