I love the way Red Velvet often use their vocals as the instrumental. Something you don't see from a lot of other groups. Which kind of ties in with what you said about not understanding the lyrics. When you don't understand the lyrics then the vocal just becomes like an additional instrument still adding it's own quality to a song. You don't need to understand the words to tell when someone has good vocals.
Despite what the MV shows, it's only Irene doing it. She has to completely commit to it, wrench it out of herself by bending almost in half to add extra pressure to her diaphram; can't do it live if she's doing choreography, so its always in the backing track.
@@xheralt Wendy goes into whistle tones near the end of the song, though. When she says "Really Bad Boy." It isn't a whistle tone high note, but she still got up there.
Great Reaction Coach! Red Velvet is my ultimate bias group for years now. They aren't affraid to experiment with different sounds and themes. Like yourself my bias is Irene and a perfect iconic song to react to is Red Flavor. Love all your reactions, can't wait to see the next one.
Red Velvet’s discography is second to none. Honestly it’s just unbeatable. You could put on any album at random and not want to skip any songs. Their killing voice is next level. I know you mentioned it in this video, but I just can’t wait to see what you think of that. I think it’ll blow your mind just how good their live vocals are🔥
THOSE NOTES! Stampled my heart! I keep wanting to dive into these bands myself, but I've decided to let CoachCastTV's journey string me along with them. It's such a blast! Maybe I've seen too many behind the scenes / recording sessions of other groups, but imagining this track being laid down with producers and vocal coaches pulling off their headphones and letting the members just let rip into that mic puts a huge grin on my face! Can't understand lyrics... can't get into the song... [my rant] I can understand how someone start with this type of stance. I personally felt detached a few times with this ITCH to understand the message a team of artists was trying to express. Happily, I was able to get past this need, this distraction, by dispelling the notion that vocals and instrumentation are separate. It is all art and technique, whether strumming a guitar or releasing air from the lungs or placing a splash of bright red JUST SO into the video. FEEL it first, then explore deeper later if the mood strikes. You might find a chord progression that pays homage to a 17th century composer, or a rather banal turn of phrase, like "Gotta get down on Friday!". The important thing, to me, is to FEEL it first, try and hold back that distracting urge to pull one bit of the presentation away and demand immediate understanding.
I highly recommend RV’s Peek-A-Boo video. I do not say this lightly, I’ve thought about it a lot, and I think that is my favorite MV of any genre. It’s cinematic, creative, colorful, cool, cute, and creepy. It’s such a juxtaposition that I can’t believe it exists but yet love it. I want a behind the scenes documentary interviewing everybody involved in making it.
Gotta agree that you don't need to understand the language of the lyrics to enjoy the song, at that point voices become pure instruments. Later you could find out what the song is about and it might help you enjoy the song better (or it could make you glad you don't understand it while listening haha.) Glad you got around to RBB, it's definitely one of my favorites. If you're looking for more Red Velvet I've gotta suggest Dumb Dumb or Umpah Umpah, two absolutely killer tracks.
Lol.... I'm still convinced that RBB was a gigantic troll-job on the part of SM and RV on all the Bad Boy stans who crawled out of the woodwork at the beginning of the year. The howls of outrage when it WASN'T "Bad Boy 2.0" were deafening.
To help you with the reaction to Red Velvet's Killing Voice, the woman with the short hair is Wendy, the one on her side is Seulgi, the one in the middle is Irene, on her side is Yeri, and finally Joy!! •Members• - Irene: she's Leader, Main Rapper, Lead Dancer, Sub Vocalist, Visual, Center. (32 Years old) - Seulgi: she's Main Dancer and Lead Vocalist. (29 Years) - Wendy: she's Main Vocalist. (29 Years) - Joy: she's Lead Rapper and Sub Vocalist. (27 Years) - Yeri: Sub Vocalist, Sub Rapper, Maknae. (24 Years)
Love the Full Moon/Werewolf theme! I can totally understand the concept of a werewolf being a really really bad boy, and therefore he wouldn't exactly have potential to be a good boyfriend - although the classic 'bad boy' fascination and attraction can be very real!
Honestly I prefer to listen to new songs by themselves first because the video can distract me or affect my opinion of the music. Then if I like it I’ll watch the MVs without subtitles because I want to focus on the visual presentation. After a few listens if I wonder what they’re saying I’ll watch a lyric video once I know the tune. It is nice to have a few anchor verses I can sing along with in the car. I still remember the day Jisoo counted off Hana, Dul, Set in song and I actually processed it as 1,2,3 subconsciously. Or when I caught the word nugu in Mafia In The Morning. I am slowly picking out words I’ve learned.
One of my favorite Kpop group with one of my Kpop Bias, Irene. She is the leader, smart, and doesn't take much crap. A couple of my favorite videos nobody sings. One is Irene making lunch packs for her members. The fun part is her chattering thru-out the video. Second is the restaurant videos, where they create a restaurant and invite staff in. Irene and Wendy did all the cooking(!) and the other 3 were the waitresses and bartender. Irene debut at 23, she's now 32. Doesn't look her age, does she. I got into Korean and Japanese music in 2017, no problem in regard to language. Learn how to find the lyrics (untranslated) and have a good translator, DeepL. Still waiting on Nemophila, "Seize the Fate" and Lovebites, "Hammer of Wrath".
@@CoachCastTVTheir debut year was 2009 where they were Group of the Year, Rookie Group of the Year and Song of the Year. They are the Queens of Kpop. "I am the Best" is a good start. Studio or Live.
Currently their catalog is 137 songs, until their album drops in a couple of days. You will have a lot to choose from. And as a reveluv, you'd better bet your sweet bippy that I have suggestions. Irene's whistle notes are currently the highest pitched notes recorded. And I had the same reaction to them the first time I heard them.
A Tip for you..K-Pop Companies are terrible with English subtitles. If you really like a song (Any Group) there are fan made versions of the same MV that have them. Good luck, Mrs. Coach. You really have a Bad boy on your hands..lol Their Killing Voice will be a real treat for you to experience.
"Feel my Rhythm" please, it's very unique, you won't be disappointed. Also, please check this paint "The Garden of Earthly Delights" before you do it, you will see why.
Coach lots of new videos out twice i got you , IU Love wins all ,Baby monster stuck in the middle, G idle super lady get busy or im putting miss coach on you
LOL...we know. We have IU filmed already. We only film on weekends and none of these except IU was out last time we filmed. We'll try to get these this weekend. Have a great day!
Red velvet have good songs. But this isn't one i like so much. More Girl's Generation would be cool. I agree with understanding Lyrics. I hear italien, Thai and more and i am not seeing the Lyrics all the time. For me it is the feel and the rhytmen of the song.
The comment about lyrics is so dumb and you were right to call it out. Not everyone that goes to the opera can speak Italian or German but still loves it. You could sit and listen to hundreds of symphonies and never hear one word of lyrics. Of course with pop music, lyrics add an extra dimension that can move you, but you can still be moved by music without words.
I need that killing voice. It’s a good introduction to their discography without taking away from reacting to the individual songs
