Great video! I am only a DIY mechanic. It is so nice to see someone who has affordable tools that the average guy can get his hands on. All the other toolbox videos I have seen are 20k worth of tools! I love how you organized them!
Thanks so much! I love the idea of owning the best of the best and thinking it will somehow make me a better technician but I know all of my tools have a lifetime warranty and that to me is just as good as a tool truck brand to me at least. 🤙🏼
Alien SS has green now. I started out going to Lincoln Tech for auto and diesel, only worked in the industry for a short time. Bounced around a bit painted houses and ended up an electrician at 32 yo . Now I worked my way up and design PLC cabinets. So good luck and I hope your career takes you where you want to be as mine did. Here’s the formula I used, get to work on time, work your ass off and always be willing to take on bigger challenges and more responsibility (of course short of being taken advantage of and even then you need to weigh the pros and cons) we didn’t have automotive tech apprenticeships in the 80’s and 90’s and no TH-cam, had there been a resource like a mentor or the internet I probably would still be a tech today. Best of luck great tool box! Try to stay out of tool truck debt ! I bought a snap-on screwdriver in 86’ and 4 more payments and it’ll be mine ;)
I think people getting into this industry over estimate how many tools or how much you need to spend to get going into working on cars. A six drawer cart from harbor freight, especially now with the series 3 boxes gets you a lot of bang for your buck. Plenty of space, you can get probably enough tools in that small cart to get 75-80% of all jobs done. Great start on a set up. I'm about 6-7 year into the industry. Working on getting my toolbox all organized better then I'll hopefully get a video out.
Since I have to take my tools back and forth from the racetrack... I'm constantly trying to figure out how much I can get done with as few tools as possible. Most of my chrome sockets and wrenches are mostly old Craftsman USA, Sunex impact, gearwrench ratchets, knipex pliers, vessel screw sticks. Any new sockets or wrenches are Icon. I rarely break anything but when I do I replace with Snap-on. I have three boxes; a small box with all my SAE. My main boxes that travel have everything I need, but only what I need, for the cars I'm wrenching on at the track... When I say "only what I need", I mean that if the car has no 16mm bolts, I don't take any 16mm sockets or wrenches. I have a 3rd box that stays home -- for all the metric stuff that doesn't travel. There are two reasons for this -- 1.) I need to be compact and as light weight as possible... 2.) When I'm working fast it helps to not grab a 16 when I need a 17 or 18.
Thank you for sharing that information. When I used to take the car out autocross I had a similar setup with only tools specific to the car I was driving. Made the box much more travel friendly.
Out of curiosity, what box do you travel with. I race in lemons and have always brought my US General small cart, but I was thinking of developing a packout setup
@@yorktronic I'm still searching for the idea... but for now I'm using two of these. It's a tradeoff because I need to keep them light enough for me to lift (I'm not getting any younger.... and sometimes I carrying my tools in a Honda Fit with a bunch of Video Production gear . I often compete and produce content on the same weekend. So space is a premium. It's not ideal but it's what I've settled on for now.
I had a little chuckle at “SwanLake” wrenches 😂 Another wild tool company name is “King Dick”… Seriously, look it up, totally real wrench company based in the UK.
That little drill you “do nothing with” is what in our shop is mainly used for your tpms sensors when changing the valve stem, and small stuff like that
What is the part number of the 3/8 snap on that's supervexpensive but works minute 21:29 .I can use that when braking cam bolts on a v6 camry or v6 honda engines that back cam
Thanks for the tip! I did talk to my rep and because they get used daily he said they should be fine without draining. I don't know if I have super batteries or what but my 3/8 has had the same batteries for 3 or 4 months so far and still running strong. Lol 🤙🏼
Yeah you're telling me lol. I actually am transitioning a few components around. I am currently testing out the alien space savers and Ernst wrench pro for my wrenches. And I really like the alien space savers for screwdrivers and pry bars etc. I just haven't found anything I like more than the tool grid for sockets. It's just so compact and secure.
For sure! Like I said in the beginning of the video I worked on cars 20 years ago before I took a break. During the time I wasn't working on cars professionally I was still working on my own and my friends and families cars. @InTunewithDave ok thanks man appreciate it, thinking about getting one of those carts for home garage when we get one built it will mostly have name brand tools in it, you have the orginal lock in it, thought about putting a matco lock in mine so it matches my tool box at work and only need to have 1 key on my key ring for both boxes

So far so good with the wrenches. I don't really use wrenches as much as the sockets but they still feel strong and have been put through hell in their short life
I would consider it but unless you live close to me it most likely wouldn't be worth it for either of us. They are only like 70 bucks at Home Depot of memory serves me correctly. 🤙🏼

This seems a well balanced box. Price vs. utility.
We can't all have all snap-on and Knipex, and it seems you have choosen carefully;
Nice Job

Agreed. I work out of this box and it gets me through 98% of what I do everyday without having to walk back to my main box.
I like the setup bro. Green is my favorite too. Keep doin what you,re doin
Thank you my friend ! Green is the best for sure!

@@yorktronic I used a husky toolbox similar to the pack out. It made for a good seat and step at the track too

Nice set up and very organized.
Thank you very much ! 🤙🏼
Got a link for the inspection cam, also nice set up
Great set up!
Thank you ! And I love your channel BTW. 🤙🏼

Check out Diyarea tools. 🤣🤣
Dude that's awesome I have to get a set of those just to say I have the king dick wrenches lol 😂

How would you use that for TPMS sensors ? They are only supposed to be hand tight ?
Great detailed review

Pro tip …don’t store the batteries in the torque wrenches while not in use

That is absurd, juss sayin
Man love the tool grid they are just expensive 😪

@@DKAUTOREPAIReven the tool box widgets are expensive
What is the brand of those magnet panels? I need some to hold pry bars to the side of my box.
The magnet panels are really strong but I don't know if they would hold heavy pry bars. The brand is lodesol I got them off Amazon.
Does this us general tool box fully close with the snap on pry bar?😊
Sure does. The holes are recessed low enough to allow it to close.
quite a bit of tools for just an apprentice!
whats your point? you expect him to try out the job and see if he likes it before he invests in himself?

Dont be judgin
What did you use to take the us general emblem off the front of cart thank
Honestly they kind of just fell off when I put the trim tool behind them. Lol didn't take any prying and didn't leave any adhesive. I was surprised.

I did change the locks out so all my locks were keyed alike. I just got a lock set off Amazon and swapped it out. Super easy
@InTunewithDave ok thanks man I'm gonna try an extra matco lock I got and see if it works

how's those snap on reversible wrenches hold up for you? ever break them before? i warranty mine all the time haha

I bet You do sport shoes 👠🙄🤣
What’s that part number to switch the 1/4 to 3/8 on the matco ratchet?
You interested in selling that little m12 driver with the clutch that you don't use?
I would consider it but unless you live close to me it most likely wouldn't be worth it for either of us. They are only like 70 bucks at Home Depot of memory serves me correctly. 🤙🏼
Wow, hah what a scream? 😆
Interested in some info on the ¼ > ⅜ ratchet head swap on the matco ratchets!
