My bus route for the last 50 years! From the days of East Midlands Motor Services when it used to be the Service 4 Doncaster - Chesterfield via Worksop and Staveley. Then it was cut back to Worksop- Chesterfield and became the 77. It used to be operated with Clowne Bus garage vehicles using the old Lowlander double dockers. Happy days catching it to Staveley , Chesterfield and back from Mastin Moor with the clippies stood at the bottom of the stairs having a fag! We knew a lot of them by name and used to get told off when I was young by one called Flo who could be a right battleaxe!! Still my bus route now but at another location. Happy days.
@@davian68 Yep it's a long standing route the 77. The only annoying thing is it could be a bit of a drag once it left Worksop. Into Hodthorpe, Whitwell, Bakestone Moor , then Creswell , up to the top and back down again, then Clowne, along Boughton Lane, then round Barlborough and on to Staveley. Some go via Inkersall and Mastin Moor estates now in the evening which makes it a real drag and a very long route.
You can see at the side of the roads, just how severe some of the temperatures were this summer. Compare the scorched dead yellow coloured grass, completely bereft of any moisture or much needed rain - with some of the lush green grass that you can see in bus journey from Burnley to Skipton via Colne. It's a real shame the way things are going.

Not a regular on that route but did use it often to go into chesterfield from Clowne, Usually for the pictures lol 1970s -80s

You lose the will to live if you do the entire journey
what an appalling service taking ninety minutes to get from Worksop to Chesterfield. it only took an hour in the 1960s. that is progress for you
