But I had a question that is so off topic, pardon me please, but I have to ask.
If an individual had two planets at the same degree but different houses, can they be considered to influence each other?
For example, let's say Cancer ascendant, and this person has Mercury in Leo at 15° and Venus in Virgo at 15°, can we say that these planets are influencing each other?
If so, is the aspect working like a conjunction or mutual reception?

7th cusp you take the same degree as ascendant, just in opposition?
Correct. Then calculate which navamsha that is and use the corresponding verse

What if you're a Shiva devotee, can you do the 100 names of Shiva instead?
I think you can. Traditionally this is done with the Vishnu Sahasranama, but even in that work Vishnu is called Shiva as one of the names. But it should be 108 verses to correspond to the 108 nakshatras. If it's not it won't fit the horoscope scheme
