Actually, tantra can have everything to do with sex or sexual energy, or nothing at all. It depends on what school of tantra we are discussing. I am of the red tantra school and frequently, (as in every day), use sexual desire towards the unification process with the deity. This is not unique to me. There are many instances in literature of a yogi uniting with say Vajrayogini and sex/sexual energy are involved. That is why the yab-yum image is the most common way of displaying unification, (yoga), with a deity in Tibet and Nepal. Yes, in a much more recent sense, (post Buddhism), these images were to show the unification of method with wisdom, but that is not their origin. Sex and sexuality are some of the most potent and special ways to merge with divine beings including Kurukulla, Vajravahari, and Vajrayogini. Maybe this is just not the first inclination of the female gender due to innate proclivities? In either case, do not dismiss the power of the sexual act to yoke two beings together. We do it all the time.
