I absolutely LOVE that you took a moment in this video to tell men to...well, man up about makeup! It really is too bad that 99 percent of men don't even consider makeup as an option to help them deal with their acne, and it's even more of a shame that people would judge them so harshly for doing so. I don't think there's anything shameful (or even inherently feminine!) about getting a bottle of fluid that looks like your skin and putting it on your skin to cover up blemishes that make us feel insecure. So good for you for pointing out that this isn't a big deal!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I'm in the exact position with you right now. THE THINGS WE DO FOR GIRLS
I've done it for 3 months straight now - have not been called out a single time, and it's become a way of life now, even though my acne has mostly subsided... hahah! NO REGRETS, JUST DO IT!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE i did it today and nobody spotted me so i think i will stick with the makeup
Thanks for making this so straightforward! I like that this video has a more masculine approach to male makeup than some of the other male makeup tutorials I've seen on TH-cam (most are too feminine/ unrealistic for me - I want to look like a man with great skin, without looking like a drag queen that clearly has makeup on). I appreciate that this video seems to cater to more of a masculine audience with a busy lifestyle, and I thank you for that.
dr Strangelove you seem insecure about your own masculinity that you have to attack others for wanting non feminine makeup. This tutorial is for people who want to cover up embarrassing acne and blemishes whilst retaining a natural look. What's wrong with that? Full on contouring lipstick eyliner extravaganza is not what everyone wants, some people are very comfortable in their masculinity and simply want to cover up imperfections.
Thanks mate. I suffer from Rosacea and use the Laura Mercier tinted moistuizer and am sick of having to apply it like makeup every day. Have ordered the mac products you suggested and hopefully this makes life easier! Cheers again!
+Tim Hanson Pretty well - it is so much easier to apply then the tinted moisturizer I sued before, so it definitely scores points for convenience and ease of use. 90% of the time it applies easily with no visible trace of any makeup, but on the rare occasion, for some stranger reason, it just doesn't blend with the skin (maybe the skin is too dry or oily or something). Overall it was more than good enough to continue using and is now my primary method of concealing my rosacea redness for which it does a great job.
when my skin was really bad, it felt so sore and it seemed everything made it worse, the only foundation that worked for me was maxfactor lasting performance , with collection 2000 concealer followed by pressed powder, i was too young to even consider being able to afford mac or bare minerals. i learned that careful application gave a satisfactory coverage but nothing can hide the "bumps" only the redness.i would urge anyone with acne to please see your gp and keep going back, don't give up x
Thanks, I really want to try this because I have acne still at the age of 43, I have had it for 33 years now. Its mild these days but I would like something really simple to just slap on a go and this is it man. I need to figure out what products you used and maybe stop at a makeup counter and find out what shade I need. Wish me luck man and thanks again.
Hey Joe Joseph I just turned 20 however I'm on meds for my acne. I would see a dermatologist and ask them about taking Cephalexin (which I think is an antibiotic that kills bacteria that causes acne) or solodyne (which is more expensive.) I hope they work for you! Neither of them are as risky as accutane.
1:15 wow what a difference, as someone who Delt with acne but I still have red blotchy skin, it looks like I’m going to have to do this. Thank you for the tutorial!
My dad recently came to me asking for me to make him beautiful, also to help me improve my make up skills(aspiring cosmetologist :D), I'm hoping this is what he desires. I'm gonna try and get the pressed powder tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works!
I have a really dry nose as well and I put a layer of vaseline on all the dry patches of my face before I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning the dry skin is softened enough that it rubs right off with a towel. If I still have some dryness I put a thin layer of vaseline on before I moisturize my skin and then follow with foundation after the skin has absorbed the moisturizer. I don't have sensitive skin so not sure how it'll work for you. But you can also use olive oil before bed.
Does anybody know of a foundation similar to the mac pressed powder that doesn't test on animals? I have tried a physicians formula one but it wasn't very full coverage.
You have a natural delivery in your manner of speaking. Its very refreshing, Im going to try and remember it whenever I do any kind of public speaking. Also, Im a Caribbean woman, cinnamon-brown skin, with lots of dark acne spots...so your tips are most welcome and I'll be sure to try them out.
I'm totally amazed that this was all with powder. I've never had much luck with getting good coverage from powder, but maybe I'm not using the right brushes? Your skin looks amazing - but natural!
I use the studio fix powder and it is undetectable on the skin if you do spritz the skin with fix+ after using powder. Don't try to make pores disappear because if your skin is too perfect and your going somewhere like work where everyone knows you it will be noticeable that its too good which isnt a problem for a girl but for a guy it is
Great video! Just a question, I have pretty bad skin and I've always used liquid foundation to cover everything up but I find that it looks like I'm wearing too much makeup. Why are you using powder instead of liquid foundation? Does it give a more natural finish? Thanks xx
Unless you have had problems with numerous different liquid foundations, I wouldn't consider them more irritating to blemishes as compared with powder foundations. From my own experience, liquid and powder foundations both have their pros and cons for covering acne, but neither of them have been irritating to my blemishes. Just be sure to thoroughly cleanse your skin at night, and use clean tools to apply. I've used mineral powder for years, it's great :) No irritation that I've noticed.
Thank you. Telling the truth, watching other videos about how to cover acne and scares I always get a little depressed. using too much products is really not for me. I love your way. simple, quick and effective. thanks Again :D
As someone who suffers regularly from severe breakouts of acne that was the most amazing cover tutorial ever! Thank you! As you say, most people just do 'spot coverage' and that is just not helpful for larger break outs. Thank you so much for sharing this. This is amazing! =0D
I have used this ointment from the dermatologist called Elidel, and it really works for dryness around the nose, when your skin seems flaky, however, once I stopped using it, it tends to get back flaky. Hope this helps!
thank God for you. everyone else is so chatty and takes forever to get to the point. if you have time, teach other you tubers to EDIT - ~smootches~ maggie also - yes, people, there is no substitute for MAC studio fix powder foundtion
Thanks for the tutorial, Wayne. I agree with one of the earlier comments about the type of product used while skin is still e flamed. The less irritants in the product, the better. Alima Pure makes terrific mineral foundation that doesn't use anything nasty and they have 61 shades which is great when trying to choose a colour to offset the redness - the yellows range is a pure yellow so will counter balance redness nicely. Prices, and postage are pretty cheap.
i love you because you understand the woes of having acne and you are so relatable about how normally putting on makeup is supposed to be fun and creative how it can be depressing. i love you so much! thanks (:
I've tried Bare Minerals, both the original and the matte and I can't stand how it feels on my face. It itches around my nose and feels heavy. I don't know if I've done something wrong or if it just doesn't work for me...It looks lovely on you!
Thanks very much for this video. I have quite a reddish/pinkish face and I will give these products a try. I need a natural look, of course, and this video looks good. Thanks again.
now this is a good vid. that spray made it look natural--amazing. i use Estee Lauder Double Wear Light or Nutrius liquid foundation and they work well without so many steps. the mineral makeup looks shiny.
I wouldn't tell my dad, but both my sister and my mum are happy to help me out, my sister has bad acne too so she understands, maybe you could just tell your mum, I think mothers tend to be more understanding in this area more often than dads, I guess there's something about telling your dad you have to put on makeup to feel pretty that he just doesn't get :)
You really are the real MVP. We need more men like you. I suffer from rosacea and have real trouble getting tips to cover it up. As a fella, make up is a complete mystery to me but you made it look so simple. Thank you. I'd like to buy you a pint!
I've used BB Beauty Balm for same effect. I'm older so on film my broken old skin shows up. I use BB to hide some of the red lines and patches. Excellent video BTW.
Who said guys can't try make themselves look the best they can? 😂 girls do... we basically go out with no makeup on daily.. girls would cry if they had to do that. Great video:)
Exactly! I am tired of my sister complaining of Rosacea. I have it too (and far worse), but I can't toss on makeup and it's virtually gone. Finally after like 10 years, this guy gave me the guts to go out and get the MAC powder he uses.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I'm a straight guy, so it's always tricky getting over the idea of using make up, but also doing so in a way that doesn't look like it's make up. Typically, when I see a guy wearing makeup, you can see a thick layer of foundation. I'll have to look into these products. Everything looks so natural.
it's weird to see a bearded hunky guy having a make up youtube tutorials. well anyway thanks for sharing your tips and techniques on how to cover acne.
You sir are an inspiration. I've felt uncomfortable about my skin for a while and have simply used concealer but am totally unsatisfied with how it looks. This makes me look great and I feel so much more confident going out. I thank you so much.
Yes I would also love to here tips on covering dry patches around healing pimples and also dealing with dry skin patches, for an oily person, that are due to treatments (like around the nose and mouth). Thanx for any help.
I totally love you. I love how honest you are. I am sorry for your breakout. You usually have such great skin, but I am not so lucky.. Lots of breakouts and what you said about how depressing it can be to try to cover each spot is SO true and so honest. You rock. Thank you for everything. Been using your makeup wisdom and really makes me feel better about myself.
Thank you SO much for pointing out what a depressing (and time consuming!) chore spot conceal techniques can be. Sure, when I'm having a good skin day, with maybe a mark or two, I don't mind it, but when you're full-on broken out, there's NO WAY you have the time/patience/self esteem to cover any other way.
Hi, and thanks for a great video! A couple of questions: 1. What is it like working out or even swimming with this stuff on? Would the make up go away? 2. If you, or someone else, touch the face, does that live a mark? And/or does it live color on the fingers? 3. Should you use a moisturizer or something before applying the powder?
Love all your videos thank you for all your great tips:) You are using the MAC Studio Fix Powder/Foundation to cover acne, so does that mean it will not cause skin to break out or become irritated?
Omg =) how are you gonna come on here and look and SOUND (lil growl !!) so adorable while talking about something as irritating as acne is just BEYOND me! I just love you to pieces Wayne Goss! Excellent video!!
I need to buy MAC Studio Fix in powder form. I've tried the liquid form but after watching this, I think my acne prone skin would totes benefit. THANKS WAYNE!
I've slathered on liquid foundation before, with my hand. Whatever kind of foundation works for your skin type. You can always use primers, and lotions as well.
Thank you very much for this video. I have been trying to cover up my acne and have had zero luck, that is until I saw this video. I just got both products and they work just as well as you said they would, they are a life saver. I just wanted to take the time and thank you!
Oh Wayne. Your videos never cease to make me giggle and fall that little bit more in love with you! I bought some fix+ today, can't wait to try it out! :)
You sir, are brilliant. Not enough people accept that acne is a debilitating problem that men also have to deal with, and that just living with it is no longer the only option for sufferers. From a fellow sufferer, thanks for the kind tutorial.
I have just my tip of the nose getting inflamed once in a while, will try this technique. I think to get rid of acne, you just need to stop consuming milk products and drink more distilled water or mix lemon with baking soda into water.
Wow, thanks for sharing. It's food for thought, since sometimes I don't even go out the door if my skin is bad. I'm nearly 30 and am tired of making excuses, or eating strict no-fun diets just to try and have a spot-free face for the first time in 15 years. Think I'll be venturing into getting a powder foundation sometime soon.
i soo glad that i watched this one, i have scarring and extremely oily skin; what are your recommendations? will will this work? i have the bareminerals (which i rarely use) and am trying to find something that will dampen the oil. i've tried bb's and Au natural! you are welcome to direct message me. thank you for your awesomeness.
Would you still recommend these techniques for those of us with dryer skin? I find that powder looks patchy if I don't have a liquid base! Also just in general - best BB cream/tinted moisturizer? I'm leaning towards Laura Mercier because that seems to be the one to measure up to but haven't heard much about alternatives! Thanks, you are fantastic!!! :)
Hi Wayne :) I finally, *finally* uploaded my acne/hyperpigmentaiton/scarring coverage routine...I was choking up as it rendered/uploaded because I'm so self conscious about my skin, however I remember watching this video & look at how many people you have helped! That is amazing and it inspired me to just bite the bullet & do it :) I've a special thing I call my '3 step method' that I do every day. I'd appreciate your feedback more than you could ever know! x Love Mel
Looks great! I like the mat side with the spray. Although the mineral powder worked well also. Hope your satisfied with the results of the work you had done. Glad you posted that info. Down time was always a concern for me.
This is great!! can you suggest other products besides the Mac fix plus, that can give you the same results? I know that you mentioned water, but you also mentioned something with more moisture than water. Thank You!!
I'm sat here watching this with my boyfriend and showed him the before and after and his reply? "Before and after what?" "Make up!" "No way you wouldn't even know he had any on that's amazing" proof is in the pudding! Wayne you're unbelievable! X
hi wayne, i have a question for you about hydroquinone for acne scars. i have a few red marks on one of my cheeks from previous acne, and i have been using hydroquinone 4% to try to lighten them for the past 2 months. it has worked pretty well so far, but i had been doing some research and found that using it can cause ochronosis and more and it is potentially a dangerous chemical. i was wondering if you'd had experience with it and what you thought about the safety of using it. thanks so much!
Thank you so much for these tips. I actually use the MAC studio fix liquid foundation and apply it to my face with a "skunk" brush in a stippling motion. I then apply blot powder from MAC also since my skin is so oily. But, after a couple of hours I can still see my acne and especially my acne scars. Am I doing something wrong?
I prefer the side you did with the Mac Studio fix powder. I got away from the BE mineral foundation powder because it is too time consuming to buff it on!
Love the way u explain it...as always ! I have acne since im 15 years old ( 32 now ) so ik what u r talking about ! Hate my face, so much product used to try cover it ! Lost motivation, but maybe i have to test this Mac Studio Fix...Thanks so much to share all tips about a way to feel better in our skin ! Love from France xoxo
Hey Wayne hope you see this! First of all you are the best , just the best. Second I do have a question, I only have red marks from acne now , I loved how the MAC powder foundation cover that redness on your skin but I do have the Bare minerals foundation but my skin is way to dry and I can't apply the foundation, my question is , if my skin is dry ,can I apply the MAC power foundation or the MAC powder foundation is just like the Bare minerals one? Thanks
This was me today. My skin recently and unexpectedly broke out like crazy! And I have no idea why. I had to painstakingly conceal every breakout and it was so depressing. Definitely going to try this method! Thanks :)
He's mentioned in a past vid this is caused by exfoliating your skin with your makeup brush. Try just using a damp sponge to pat in the foundation instead of using a bursh which is abravise on dry areas.
You should growl at the camera more often. Awesome. Thank you for doing so many video's on how to deal with poopy skin. I'm having a terrible break out right now and it's so embarrassing. What's worse is I don't have access to my usual products to clear it up. Boo! I'm trying the honey mask method in desperation.
I have tough time with studio fix, it's so flat, you're right! I use fix plus on it as well, but I dunno ..... I'm going to try your technique I just watched and use it wet!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!! this is exactly what i was looking for. Ive been watching you for months now and I really appreciated seeing your real complexion as well. Knowing that mine is worse off but that I could get the same result was comforting!
Thank you so much for posting this. My skin is always so red and I get so frustrated trying to cover up. I am definitely going to invest in Mac studio powder soon.
Please Answer ! I use to have really bad acne, but it has finally all cleared up, but now im left with terrible acne scaring on both of my cheeks. I use the Revlon Color Stay, it does an amazing job of coverage, but the downfall is that it makes my skin really cakey. What is the Best Drugstore Foundation that gives a really nice dewy glow, but has good coverage ? If you could answer, thatd be wonderful ! Thanks love
I know you have lots of people to respond to, but I wanted to ask, if I am oily and use a powder foundation for full coverage, would it be ok to use the fix plus sprayto reduce the powdery finish? The woman at mac said I shouldn't, but many people with my similar skin use it in their oily skin routines. Please, I hope you get back to me. Love your vids!
Wayne thanks for being so open and honest all to help us! You are pretty amazing! Thank you for all you put up with and annoying comments. There are those who are very appreciative of your sharing!!!!!!!! Have a great weekend!
Is there any way to use bronzer on your cheeks with acne, without disturbing the concealer/foundation? I try and cover the acne marks with concealer/foundation, but then lightly use a brush to put bronzer on and it just brushes the foundation off and creates this weird grey look wherever the red acne marks are
I agree with sungho. could you at least say if it was a lighter/darker shade than your usual mac foundation so we can work put what to get for darker skin. That would be REALLY helpful.
so glad u made a video, i was so worried about you after the laser treatment. are u still pleased with progress? im interested in doing it. I have turned 50 and im so depressed how my face is aging...(..
Hi, thanks for the video! I'm 16 and have had bad sun burn for years. Granted, this isn't the most ideal method, it will boost my self confidence. Thanks!
Wow Wayne something about you is different that makes you look even hotter. I mean you are always good looking but here something looks better even before you put the makeup on. I think it's cuz you parted ur hair to the side instead of slicked back which slims your face. and the hair looks a bit darker. Love it!
I absolutely LOVE that you took a moment in this video to tell men to...well, man up about makeup! I'm a straight guy and I cant believe Im about to steal my mother's foundation to apply make up on.

I want to cover up my acne scars , what make up is ideal for me.
My skin tone is fair , and my hair colour is blonde

Yes, you need to REALLY powder and set the makeup darling. Using a powder and puff lovely x
Wayne Goss wayne, whats the lasting of this makeup? If u use powder will it stay on your face for 6-7 hours at least?

Daniel rogers hey as a teen girl I find it great if a man wears makeup- it shows he cares

Hahaha I was genuinely having a nose bleed whilst watching this so when you said "don't have a nosebleed" it just cracked me up! X
I LOVE that you are including gents in makeup application tips, Goss. That is long overdue to heat in tutorials. Love ya!

The Mac foundation is not suitable for people with rosacea. Made my skin 100 times worse!

I love your candor. How's the recovery coming along from your laser treatment? Hope your skin is feeling for comfortable now.
fuck. More guys should wear makeup. I have blotchy skin, but have never tried makeup.
Thanks very much for this video. I have quite a reddish/pinkish face and I will give these products a try. I need a natural look, of course, and this video looks good. Thanks again.

My skin has dried up as I've gotten older but I still use powder foundation; trick is to really moisturize your skin & use a very moisturizing primer
U are basically touching me uaarhhh ur so cute lol
FINALLY !!! OMG GUYS SO NEED THIS THE DIFFERENCE IS AMAZING
Take baby powder and a little water to make a paste put on face wait 10 min wash it off it shrinks ache it disappears and use it under makeup to .
Amen for a realistic approach. I haven't got all day to dot over my acne scars- that takes forever! Full coverage is a God send.
A couple of questions:
Great! And really works. Doing this since I have seen a other video from you, where you mention also the Mac powder
You are now officially my "go to" on youtube for make up tips, how to's, and etc. You are awesome :)
hi Wayne, please show this tutorial on someone who has acne, so we can see the results.
your skin is too flawless. love you
Hi Wayne :) I finally, *finally* uploaded my acne/hyperpigmentaiton/scarring coverage routine...I was choking up as it rendered/uploaded because I'm so self conscious about my skin, however I remember watching this video & look at how many people you have helped!
I don't have very problematic skin but I love flawless coverage and this is exactly how I do my makeup, love it.
hi wayne, i have a question for you about hydroquinone for acne scars. i have a few red marks on one of my cheeks from previous acne, and i have been using hydroquinone 4% to try to lighten them for the past 2 months. it has worked pretty well so far, but i had been doing some research and found that using it can cause ochronosis and more and it is potentially a dangerous chemical. i was wondering if you'd had experience with it and what you thought about the safety of using it. thanks so much!
Thanks
Amazing!!!!! Fix plus really made the look so much more natural looking. Didn't look like you had any makeup on at all!!
you can try spraying MAC fix plus after you apply powder. Wayne says in a couple of videos that it removes the powdery look
Wayne, I so agree with you on spotting on concealer, it can be so depressing. Thanks for the video, will definitely try it.
Wow, yet another informative, useful video. There's no end to this man's amazing talents, Lou x
Thats amazing :). What would you recommend for really oily skin?
Hi, thanks for the video! I'm 16 and have had bad sun burn for years. Granted, this isn't the most ideal method, it will boost my self confidence. Thanks!
Wow Wayne something about you is different that makes you look even hotter. I mean you are always good looking but here something looks better even before you put the makeup on. I think it's cuz you parted ur hair to the side instead of slicked back which slims your face. and the hair looks a bit darker. Love it!
