Awesome. always so impressed by the quality of speeches these HOF inductees give. I don't know how they do it. It's such an emotional time, and in this case, Tom's family has clearly been through alot, with cancer, and the loss of his parents, and some friends, etc. Congratulations Tom, a real winner!
That was a hell of a speech. He played at Acton-Boxboro HS in Massachusetts with Bob Sweeney, Jeff Norton and Alan Bourbeau. That has to be one of the top ten Massachusetts Public HS hockey teams ever.
Lots of people don't know he grew up in Burlington, Ma until 8th grade. Burlington was a goalie factory in that era. It produced starting in 1975-76 McSweeney ('76), Ellis ('78), Demole ('81), Collins ('81) and Barrasso ('83). All other than Barrasso attended Burlington HS. Can't imagine there is a streak like that by maybe one or two other public schools in USHS Hockey history that produced NCAA D1 goalies. Incidentally Mark & Scott Fuso played Burlington Youth Hockey the same time Barrasso did.
Not to hate on the guy, but holy his era of defence/goaltending was horrific, for reference he won the vezina with a .8xx save percentage. He only had a .9xx and above one season I believe. Still, in comparison to other goalies in his era he was pretty good.
He was borderline HOF worthy, and that's coming from a Penguins fan. Just being totally honest, he had a really up-and-down career. What I will give him credit though, is he was a "money" goalie, he was clutch. When the Penguins needed a big save, he gave it to them. Almost like a poor man's Grant Fuhr per se.
@@Hockeydude85 Forget the Panthers, the Pens weren't winning the Cup that year anyway Colorado was unstoppable. Clutch saves would have been nice against the Islanders in 1993, he was terrible.
@@michealmaccallum798 richter was overrated he made easy saves look hard he was one of the worst positional goalies ive ever seen beezer wasa better goalie than him
Most underrated Goalie! Tom was awesome at pens. Luckily i grow up with Fleury. Congrats Tom😊
underrated goalie, overrated asshole.

Family First always for Tom, including hockey family.
Best goalie in NHL '94... but seriously, deserved Tom!
Congratulations to my favorite goalie #35
Congrats Tommy!!!
Congratulations Tom
Well deserved
Always like Tom Barrasso glad he got his recognition kinda suprised he got it considering the bad reputation he carried.
Tommy B, started out as a Buffalo Sabre 👌
AFT!
Ageless wonder. Literally from when I watched him as a kid the only thing showing he has aged is gray hair.

Although the selfish part of me wishes he had a few more clutch saves in him in the 96' East Final. Damn Panthers.. .lol

It’s laughable that Tom and Vernon got in but Cujo and richter isn’t ..
