In the Fantasy Variation of the Caro-Kann (1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.f3!?) White strives for original positions with active play. Here he sacrifices a pawn in the early middlegame, but can he generate enough threats to prove compensation?

You commented on it (his bishops need another piece to be effective) but I don't think you noticed that in turn this is what you executed in this game.

The idea is probably to prevent development of white's dark squared bishop as you mentioned
