My road trip in the 360 continues and my next stop is Silverstone where I get behind the wheel of a Ferrari 430 Challenge GT3.

The F430 Challenge is based upon the Ferrari F430 but has been enhanced by the Maranello factory to be lighter and faster. The car benefits from a racing exhaust and engine management developments with the slick tyre-shod racing BBS wheels being mounted using a Formula 1-inspired central locking wheel nut. This was also the first Ferrari sports competition car is use Carbon-ceramic material (CCM), with the 6-speed paddle-operated sequential manual transmission also being derived from Ferrari’s Formula One programme. The fifth, sixth and final drive ratios were tweaked for the F430 Challenge. The traction control and stability systems of the road car have been permanently disengaged, although the car does retain enhanced ABS and ASR systems, ensuring the driver can really experience the performance offered by this car.
To reduce weight, all carpets and sound deadening material was removed, along with the radio. The standard leather seats were replaced with ultra-light FIA-approved carbon racing seats. Also in the cabin, the leather door pockets were replaced with lightweight Carbon panels, with the rear and side windows replaced with Lexan. For safety, a roll cage was fitted, along with a 6-point racing harness.
For competition, Ferrari produced the F430 Challenge for its Challenge Series, and the F430 GTC in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili for international GT2 competition. However, neither car was eligible for the FIA GT3 European Championship, nor the various national GT championships across Europe. Spotting an opportunity in the market, JMB Racing upgraded the F430 Challenge to GT3 specification. The main improvements were to aerodynamics and power, with the engine now tuned to produce over 550 bhp.

The Green Caterham that passed on your left while the GT Cup's were passing on your right was a muppet, he had to know your focus would be on not bumping the Cup cars, perfect way to cause an accident.

No Ferrari is cheap. In fact, the 430 Challenge is actually quite affordable comparatively. Stradman bought one for only $US90,000, which is a similar price to the standard F430.

@@mo-hammadabunaser1367 If you're a casual track driver, then you're in for about 10-15k per year in maintenance costs. If you're doing it competitively, sponsorship offsets maintenance costs altogether.

Normally you don't need to worry too much about other cars as long as (1) you keep your line and (2) the other drivers are experienced enough. But hey, easier said than done ;-) Excellent video. I have never driven car on slicks but it undoubtedly makes a *massive* difference!

Nothing like jumping in at the deep end Sam! Race cars have to be driven hard to work and if you're out of practice driving anything on track, that's not going to be easy. I'm impressed you knew the line, i'd have gotten completely lost

Top work STG, best to ease yourself in gently and do what you are comfortable with. YFood is indeed a great resource for 'bikers and car guys alike that avoids the lethargic side effects that can be brought on by some fast foods. Would like to see YFood easily available in UK petrol filling stations and supermarkets. Thanks to Myles for offering the car to make the content.
No worries man. Ive been there on a trackday with a new car and an unfamiliar track before, and once with a track I know, but me in a street car with a bunch of fully prepped race cars passing all over. Not fun having to balance focusing on your line while staring in your mirrors. Still looks like you got some great laps in.

Very realistic portrayal of what it's like to drive someone else's car on track. While you want to push to maximize your experience, the fact that it isn't yours always nags at you and limits your willingness to stretch the car. Good fun!

Great show as usual.
I did a NOVICE track day at Brands Hatch a couple of years ago - I think that I must’ve been the only novice there! The track was full of vastly more experienced drivers than me. One of the participants told me that part of his day job was giving hot laps around Donington (I think), so I think that I’ll stick to being a ‘motorist’ not a racing driver.
PS: Did I see you walking past Willesborough Tesco last week? I was too starstruck to say hello 🥴.
Yes, I did a trackday at Spa last year and everyone is really on it, I did 6 laps and my favourite lap was a full course yellow, no more overtaking 😃

You are in these fantastic cars so much it's only right you learn how to drive them properly and enhance your abilities behind the wheel.

I know how you feel in traffic and then it’s difficult to get back up to speed and you end up always off line or feeling really slow and it snowballs until you end up shattering your own confidence. Has happened to me plenty!
