I'm a fairly recent metalhead, maybe only about a year in. Can confirm this was basically all metal, that and just atonal noise. I mean some of it is atonal noise, but they're trying to sound like that
Bradley playing Rhythm guitar: "Isn't that like a Children of Bodom song already?" Also Bradley: *playing the Walmart version of the Needled 24/7 riff*
@@Slkfd55 yeah, he even said, tehy are there for the funs and people expect lyrics in a song, but actually he just put down words that sounded edgy and brutal or fitting
@@appleid3151 Bradley is frantic and just zooms around the isnturments because he literally only takes 5 minutes Dragonforce more like called it '10 minutes song' because they cut down the video to 10 minutes for youtube, but actually took several weeks (or atleast several fridays/streams) to write their cheesy funny covers
As a big CoB fan I have to say: this is both horrendous and exactly what I expected. Loved every second of it and I feel forced to subscribe due to the sheer accuracy of this speedrun
Seriously though, memes and jokes aside, it is incredible what you're able to accomplish in five minutes, be entertaining WHILE you're doing it, AND have the finished product be entertaining as well. Children of Bodom is one of my favorite bands (if you can't tell by how many times I've commented on your videos asking you to do them in this series), and I feel like Alexi would get a big kick out of this. Thank you for doing what you do, I really do love and appreciate you ❤
totally agree on that, to come up in 5 minutes with that and manage to make it halfway a demo where you could easily build a real extended song of it.. i mean you get a good idea how i could sound pretty good and i think its amazing. Would be so cool if you put in the work some time and make a full extended song out of that.
I seem to remember a quote from Alexi, I think it was referring to Hatecrew Deathroll, about how he wrote a lot of the lyrics like days before they recorded the album. This is believable lol
Bodom! Alexi would have gotten a kick out of this for sure. One awesome thing I learned from Alexi is that no matter how metal you are, never take yourself too seriously. It is all about having fun! If it's not fun then what's the point right? I think Carcass and/or jester race era in flames would be another fun idea for another new song in 5 minute video
This sounds exactly like my band back in Finland during the formative years of realising I'm only good at listening music or watching sport, not participating in any way.
As someone who knows how to do a Alexi style scream, I’ll say yours wasn’t even too bad for someone who doesn’t know what they are doing XD Great job mate, made me laugh!
@Steve B Why not? After I’ve been practicing screming vocals for about a year now, I can somewhat do them. I like to sing Bodom stuff because my basic scream sound is close to Alexi’s. Also probably has to do with the register (meaning my voice is close in the high/low as Alexi’s)
The end result sounded like something COB would actually come up with, so I hereby name it "Vihaan jokia" (I hate rivers) by the one-man cover band, Bodomin Lapsi. p.s. Your Speedrun series is great! p.p.s. My knowledge of Finnish is incredibly basic, so excuse any errors! :D
Bradley hall is definately one of the more creative metal musicians on youtube! This is my first speedrun video ive seen and this makes me wanna check out the others!
There's actually something interesting about this sound. It's a fustercluck, but you can tell that the musician(s) behind it has some skill. As for a band/musician... maybe a Carlos Santana song.
Brad has all the necessary chops to speedrun Archspire but I think time limit could be a problem for anyone to get umistaken Archspire sound and not sound like any generic tech death. They are quite melodic for tech death. No surprise it took them a couple of years of (day to day almost) to write last album. Braindrill would be trivial for Brad however. Just throw in random notes fast.
Well, I have to admit I enjoyed it! But this video is a proof of how complicated CoB are, and how sophisticated their music lines are, that 5 minutes are not enough! You got the vibe at least! And bless you, those keyboards made me LAUGH! I tried to put Janne's face on yours while you executed them! Loved it! Keep on, I enjoy wour videos so much!
Children of Bodom are one of my all time favourite bands and I was hoping you’d do a speedrun of them someday so this was awesome! I really enjoyed this video and I think you should do Finntroll or Wintersun next, it would be hilarious
This was VERY entertaining to watch! To videos, I don’t laugh so easily. This one sure got the job done! Best of regards from Finland to Australia! Cheers, mate! 😁
I'm amazed how awesome drum tracks you can conjure on that keyboard. I try that on some electric keyboard I have but I cannot come even remotely close to anything sounding like normal percussion track. Yours is legit as f*. This speedrun is unmistakably CoB!
I can't believe how good and actually true to form this was.. all jokes aside, if you took your time, you could make an actual (proper) tribute song. Nicely done!
You should try doing Type O Negative lol, I'm very interested to see how your vocals would sound. plus it's a more bass-driven band, so you'll be forced to rember 😁
ngl as chaotic and fun this is, it might surprise that those actually helped me a lot in understanding the absolute fundamentials of what some of those bands do, what makes them special in a way.... Love this series!!! also as low quality as the results were, I got instant CoB vibes from the beginning part lol
Scientists have recently discovered that the pure chaotic energy generated by a Bradley Hall video intro could effectively be refined as a source of renewable energy.
How to make a Speedrun Bradley Hall video: 1) lean back 2) make a funny face that exaggerates a double chin 3) incredibly clean and fast sweeps 4) lots of yelling
This must be what all metal sounds like to people who don't listen to it
The beginning of the rythm guitar reminds me of the intro part from 'Needled 24/7' (Which was track 1 on the Hate Crew Deathroll Album)

This is 100% a song CoB would have improvised on the spot
Cob: a serious death metal band with depths in their music and lyrics
Bradley: *ponds*
yeah lakes are deep
I'm so so sorry I have to be that guy but Alexi actually improvised most lyrics in the studio

Ah yes, the heavy metal gods Depeche Mode.
