Oh LS...the perfectly groomed dad-do is priceless! Your family has the best hair in triathlon. 😁 Looking great, Erin...nice to get a peek of the family! Praying for you all, Megan 💗🙏💪 ps. a lift coach, whoop whoop! SO excited to see how the season transpires for you!
Sorry, what’s that? I have an important meeting with the CEO of some company? Yeah, cool. Uh… Lionel just posted a video. Tell him I’m stuck in traffic 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Lionel, i love the videos documenting you swim progression, especially as a weaker swimmer myself taking tips wherever possible. when I feel the feelings of "burn out" that you mentioned my mental strategy is just to make it to the end of the week at all costs, and then at that point you will reevaluate whether or not you ACTUALLY are burnt out and then make the appropriate adjustments. I am a self-coached collegiate triathlete that has been training 25+ hours per week for the last 30ish weeks, I swim around 33 to 35 thousand yards per week.
All I can say is keep it coming. Keep the videos coming keep the energy coming keep the hair coming. It’s all great. Haha I know I’m going to have my best PR’s this year and these videos will be a part of that for sure.
Another huge benefit of strength training for endurance athletes is "Muscle Economy". A little know term, but defining it makes it obvious: When a strong muscle/body that is capable of lifting/moving heavy weight is tasked with lifting/moving lighter weight, it can do so with less effort over a longer period of time than a weaker muscle/body. On the "outside" this looks kind of like muscle endurance, but physiologically is not the same thing. This could be HUGE for Lionel!
It would be great to see what wetsuit swim practice you are putting in during the build up to Oceanside? You know how different it is in the sea, it would be a shame to see you lose any gains from your dedication over the last few months. Best of luck!🤞
But hows his bike power and running legs? Watching these videos i always get the same scary feeling that disaster is looming! I just want him to win Kona and then i can finally give up this sport!
Very interesting part about burnout and overtraining. I wonder if "just a day off" keeps you from a mental burnout. Because i think it often comes back to the things one think about in his spare time. Sometimes you just need to let go of things to hit your target like hunting with a bow.
I seem to remember that hitch in your running stride getting way less noticable right after you did all that rehab strenght work. I can't remember if you said it changed anything in terms actual running faster or more economical though. Probably not since you seems to not care about getting rid of the hitch, I assume it doesn't really effect anything.
I never understood the “cheat meal”. It reinforces the “good” (reward) vs. “bad” (punishment) with regards to what we eat. If you want McDonald’s…eat McDonald’s. 1 meal out 42 (2 weeks times 3 meals a day)…not including all the snacks between, isn’t going to derail a person.
Writing this from physical therapy for a hamstring injury from due to having quit doing strength work as I ramped up swim/bike volume and decreased run volume
It's interesting that Lionel never does strength work (statement around 5:00 in this video). After all he looks ripped compared to most triathletes. I know low body fat is part of it. Maybe there some genetics to it, also?
Lionel , i know you to less , butt everytime i am looking a clip of you , i think you are more than serious be focused on 1 point ! In my eyes , Sam Long has the best mindset , or do we call it , be mentally balanced , from relaxed , training , and shut down ! Lionel in my eyes if you would make less , it could bring you more , in long therm perspective ..you know ? You still push to hard !!!
Get more fat adapted, skip the sweet crap. It takes 5 days for elite athletes to swap the main energy source. Beef, bacon, no limits. Full IM on fat as the fuel source. Look up Prof Tim Noakes. You owe me a hug.
Lionel! Can we get you on our Triathlon Mockery Podcast?
Do it!! Ultimate collaboration
This would be great!!!
Yes!!
Yes @lionel please
YES!
6:08 is comedy gold. Bravo Talbot, thanks for the laugh man 🤣
With this haircut he should be unbeatable.
I love all the flashbacks!
I noticed the bucket before talbot zoomed in and i immediately knew it was his pee bucket from the pain cave video haha

Wow. Lionel looks maxed out. This is an incredible psychological portrait, Talbot. BRAVO. This is truly incredible content.
GREAT video. Loving this energy from Lionel. He is truly on the right path.
Lionel going full slytherin style with the hair hehe 11:15
I’m Loving these videos!!!
Absolutely epic!!
Full points for the bro science reference haha!!!
Seriously funny! Even having The Brofessor’s input in there.
Sorry, what’s that? I have an important meeting with the CEO of some company? Yeah, cool. Uh… Lionel just posted a video. Tell him I’m stuck in traffic 🤷🏻♂️
Return of smiley face bucket... nostalgia!

All I can say is keep it coming. Keep the videos coming keep the energy coming keep the hair coming. It’s all great. Haha I know I’m going to have my best PR’s this year and these videos will be a part of that for sure.
So good Talbot.
Im confused, Indian wells is his next race? Isnt that in December?
Love the swim hair. The mark of a true swimmer

Lionel's talk = My new religion.

haircut & colour👍
The smiley face bucket 😭
smiling is good for endurance training, stick with the group, keep up the hard work!
But hows his bike power and running legs? Watching these videos i always get the same scary feeling that disaster is looming! I just want him to win Kona and then i can finally give up this sport!
Very good in the pool...but how much OWS in a wettie and without a wettie is he doing??
Given that he lives in the middle of the desert, I'm going to guess none. But I don't think he necessarily needs to practice ows.
Lionel with the swim cap, yup yup!
Great content ! You forgot to mention a race in your calendar: TREMBLANT ! It wouldn’t be right not to race in Trembs !!!
looking good with the hair
OMG the happy bucket!!!! 😂😂😂 yaaas talbot!!!
I like that swim coach. No BS 😂. If you suck. He’ll tell you

man the smiley bucket moment haha!!
Ohh Lionel. The hair !!!😮

I thought maybe Magnus would win this year in Kona but now I think you are going to win
this haircut 😂
Omg I laughed so hard at the bucket segment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Another classic LS video. Was this the 1500 swim race SL posted? I want to see LS's run down

Lionel's hair is absolutely fried from the Aquabear pool lmao
LS rocking the longer hair, much more handsome......we'll see if faster :)
Best video so far😂
Aw man! Just catching up and started this video where I left it @5:55…. Very bad timing
Hahaha the bucket clip 😂😂😂😂
Frosted tips?
What time do you go to sleep and wake up. Do you try and get set plus hours.
Legit trying to figure out if the hair is for real?
Love the content mate, keep going.
Come to Lake Placid for your July Ironman
Did Lionel get fined and had to do Bleached tips?
Strength training is 🔥
Love it
I don’t know that I have ever watched a video where Lionel combed his hair.
You know Nils Van der Poel (the speed skater) only trained 5 days a week and still crushed the competitors
Yeah, but he did like 8 hours of threshold training in a week + 25 hours of base training which is fricken insane.
The broscienceLife clip😝
More strength training included in Lionel's videos, please!
I can't wait for Lionel to finally start his 2024 season in december
Lionel, Levi has a contract training with Mikel Iden? Is this correct?
How many ppl shocked at the thumbnail of Lionel lifting weights when for years he says he hasn’t lifted weights?
Writing this from physical therapy for a hamstring injury from due to having quit doing strength work as I ramped up swim/bike volume and decreased run volume
I like your new hairstyle
I died when bro science came on lol 😆
Focus! Focus!
Are you talking about the camera work or the training… I was getting dizzy from zooming in and out, in and out of focus!
lol, the comb over
Sam Long's recovery day consisted of a 15-mile run at 5:40 pace
Brian Adams ??? Cool.
Boss man
Based on the cheat meal discussion I’m gonna guess the Freshii sponsorship has stopped.
It's interesting that Lionel never does strength work (statement around 5:00 in this video). After all he looks ripped compared to most triathletes. I know low body fat is part of it. Maybe there some genetics to it, also?
huuuuh some transcending hair changes .... nice!
👍👏
09:50 is it just me or Lionel looks like Aaron Eckhart ?
Lionel , i know you to less , butt everytime i am looking a clip of you , i think you are more than serious be focused on 1 point !

The new hairstyle 😂
14:15, 70.3 Oceanside first race
Good video....but that combed hair is not what I expected.
Was the urine bucket empty? Second question - is Lionel auditioning for Ken in the next Barbie moviel? 😅
Lionel Kanute
All that hair is missing is a starched uniform.
I lik mash potato
IYKYK
CrackDonalds?? Lionel NO!!!!😄

Do you do full IM fuelled by fat? If so, are you on social media with information to share? Thanks 🙏
