- This is the commercial for the vintage twist n turn Barbie Doll. When she first came out, mattel offered a trade in, if girls turned in their #1 Ponytail Barbie, they would get a Twist N Turn Barbie half cost.
I honestly think this is prettiest version of Barbie.

Real.
0:36 "When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful...."
Toy Story vibes hit me at this point.
XD

Adam taleb i
Adam taleb i
Adam taleb your right
Adam taleb same
so glad my parents didn't let me trade!! I now own the vintage ponytail Barbie who is worth alot more than the "new" Twist n Turn Barbie trade in! LOL
I still have this Barbie! I remember the day my mom took me to the toy store to get her. We had a coupon. Spent many hours playing w/her, fond memories.
Aww
This Barbie vid you got?
this is my favourite barbie commercial 😂 often pops into my head
They were genuinely having fun making the commercial, that's why :D
I did this - and then went back to the store and bought my old bubblecut Barbie for 99 cents. Can't have too many Barbies.
And to think the original Barbie and Midge are sought after by collectors!
Hi, just saw this!
Do you mean that they were selling the traded in dolls?! That's so cool you got your own doll back!I had heard they donated them to orphanages.
> trade in new OG Barbie
> buy OG Barbie
> repeat
> profit
“But what do I do with my old Barbie?”
Keep it!
(Meanwhile look at the face)
The returned Barbies got melted down for newer dolls. That's why the market for those first six year's worth of Barbie dolls is so expensive.
May the souls of those thrown away dolls have made their way to newer ones.
Damn, they killed all my girlies to spare some cents
No they didn't. They donated them to charity. Why do people make up stories like this 😑
Edit: Ohhhh. Moonsisters. The making up stories and presenting them as facts makes sense now. 🤣🤣
@@kumada84 sorry you're choosing to pretend I'm "wrong" because you're deciding to be "mad" at my website for attention, but facts are facts. Mattel still has a recycling program for some of their newer toys too.
@@CodenameSailorEarthI totally agree - facts are facts. We just have a very different concept of what constitutes a "fact". 🖖
I finally got one today. I'm the proud owner of an original 1966 twist n turn barbie
It's never too late to get the doll you really wanted!
That's MARSHA from The Brady Bunch ! She was SO pretty with those dreamy eyes . Every time we watched The Brady Bunch, me and my sisters would argue over who was going to be Marsha that day . Those were very happy times .
Thank you! I scrolled comments looking for the actress name because I SWORE that was a Brady bunch girl! ❤
$1.50 in 1967 is $12.61 today. Well that's depressing.....
now its 20

Oh my God these commercials were so wholesome. I wish we had sales like these still around.
Why do that when we can shove it in thy face to plant the idea negatively and somehow that's profit
That explains why its hard to find the first Barbie dolls. 😂
Yeah melted for new ones
Maureen McCormick from the Brady Bunch was in this commercial.
Linda Fountain she's 3000% ass
favorite barbie tbh. Think it's the prettiest one ever made.
Nah I think it’s the superstar one
I love Barbie dolls! They have the most cutest outfits, I wish I could own them all!
i honestly think this barbie is the prettiest of them all .
Man I love that little girl
🤨📸😊
Huh
Gosh, the what do i do with my old barbie part broke my heart. That kid should watch toy story.
She cant shes probably like 64
Bridbeams 63 to be exact
Bridbeams I mean a 64 year old can watch toy story If she wants people might think it’s weird but there’s no rule saying you can’t watch toy story if your not a kid
Did we all come here at the same time or
like this vid is 15 years old but all the coments are 5 hours ago
Those who don't get why little girls would trade in old Barbies for new either don't know or have forgotten what it's like to be a little girl. When you're a kid you want the latest new thing, not something old. Also, the "old face" Barbies didn't really look right in the late-'60s "mod" Barbie fashions. You needed a new one to make those look good. Don't forget, little girls will always regard Barbie in terms of play value, not how much $ they might be able to get on Antiques Roadshow someday.
And if you were always being told "no" for new toys because money was tight, this was a chance for parents to get the new hotness at a discount.
The TNT Barbie is my favorite, I have over 50 of them! To me she is the most beautiful Barbie ever produced.
To bad they don't return the old dolls in the toy store anymore, I wish they could still do that so we can reduce reuse and recycle the old ones into new ones so we can help environment and maybe even save more money
It's a vintage, take care dolls. Don't change on new scary dolls.
Well I think it's good to buy vintage mostley cause it's better than new but cause it's better for the environment
Cant wait to buy this new twisting Barbie!
I dont remember typing this.
Erm I think your a bit late bud
Wow a dollar fifty, I'm shocked
this was the 60s so don't be lol
Chavita Noguez ikr! now the good barbies are like 30$
Huh, tell it to me. In Argentina a normal doll is $100 pesos.
Well, a dollar fifty in the 60s was approximately 11 dollars
I ❤ this commercial
wow! Barbie has changed a LOT from 1967 to 2012!!!:)
Why trade in your old one just buy a new one I mean you can have more than one Barbie. Even today Barbies don't twist and turn at the waist. When the little girl said ''What do I do with my old Barbie?'' I was like keep it at home you can name it Amanda or something.
Haha ! You could name it Amanda of something ! Lol
I mean or something
cindybin2001 es verdad
You could also give a different name to your Ken or even your male relative's G.I. JOE? Did any of u ever did that?
Well, back then it was the 60s, and this still happens now, basically, if the new barbie came out and you didn't have it, you would most likely get laughed at. And She couldn't buy a new barbie and keep hers because, back then, $1.50 was A LOT of money for a child to have. So, they wouldn't be able to buy it, and would have to trade in the old barbie. It just happens
I don’t know why but the jingles of the 60s always hit different what we’re they putting in them
0:44 something about this part amuses the Hell out of me
0:45 Is that the girl from the magic school bus-
A dollar?!?!?!?!! DANG it was cheap than. Now Barbie is like about $17
Guys, idk why, but somethings telling me this is the new Barbie
imagine if they kept the old barbie..I want the very first barbie. =(
hahaha, my favorite part is when the kids were bouncing into the store! haha, fun! Marsha is cute. I like the voiceover guy, too. Fun. Oh! And I love the deal! Trade in your old Barbie to a store clerk and get the BRAND NEW model of Barbie for half price...totally cool! And can we talk about these prices...$1.50! Fuck! Today, a brand new, hip toy would be like $30, $40, gosh maybe even $50 or more.
TNT Barbie was sold for $2.99 back then (if you didn't do the trade-in), but that's equal to $27.49 now 👀
the terms “keen” and “neat” need a comeback
This is a banger yall 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Yep. That was a young Maureen McCormick. I remember those commercials. Now she..and I are in our late 50's. Damn :(
The song is so catchy!
found the tiktok viral sound
@resaspieces Yes, it's Maureen McCormack, the actress that played Marcia Brady on the Brady Bunch.
This was from the 1967 barbie ad😊
it says it in the title idiot
Barbie looks cute
I miss old barbie
$1.50!!?? OMG!! I can't believe it!!
WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT TO THE OLD BARBIES. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT D:
My gran still remember that tv show
It costed 1.50 then. Now in 2014 it must cost a *FORTUNE.*
I gave up a bubble cut Barbie for this trade in deal 😊❤
Lol 15 years ago posted and you comment 16 minutes ago
@SkeletonTaggersContentCreator lol
You didn't necessarily have to just trade in the 1959 Barbie doll. You could've traded in any older barbie. Such as the bubblecuts, and ponytails. I doubt it was specifically for the 1959 doll. As even in the promo the little girl gave in a swirl ponytail, and it had a cartoon picture of the bubblecut.
MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS | PART 5: ♡ "SU-BARBIE-A" ♡
Marcos Paulo this is what i was thinking
Who are these great looking dolls?
Found the other diamonds
60s are great!!!
Omg I have this doll....wow
I got it from a flea market
kkkkkkkkk
WHAT?! If they knew what they got in their hands they would not trade them!Today these all Barbies are so collective that you can make a million $ if you sell them I wish I could go back time and tell those children what are these barbies like today
Oh honey I'm not giving away my swimsuit Barbie doll...
Omg I love this commercial
"wow!" "great!""Neat!" "Wow!" "Keen!"
lol at "keen"
And I love how the narrator was so happy then the little girl was just like
8( But wha do I do with my OLD Barbie?
I just like the way they portrayed this commercial, this is by far my favorite barbie commercial..
and now those who exchanged their Barbie #1 are regretting ‘coz it cost a lot of money now
And this is why the American Girl hairstyle Barbies are so expensive. I'm lucky that I have the head of one of them (she's on a non-American Girl body). American Girl hairstyle is my favorite of the vintage dolls. It's just a bob with bangs, but it's adorable. For those curious about why they did this promo, kids usually only had 1 Barbie and then bought the fashions. So to sell the new dolls, it made sense to trade in the old dolls to get the new ones at a discount.
Honestly, this iteration of Barbie has the cutest face design. Also, if I grew up back then and got that barbie, the old one would be the new one's best friend, just saying. ^w^
sounds like a rap song, just more joyful and cheery.
This is the only vintage Barbie commercial that I actually hate. I'd never trade my girls.
It's been 50 years since this Barbie came out. If I was a kid in 1967 and want to get twist n turn Barbie. I wouldn't trade. I will still keep my old Barbies. If I own the vintage Barbies in the 60's and found out they are worth almost $1,000,000 in the next 50 years later.
If only thy did that now... KEEN!
So beautiful ❤
So you’re telling me they gave Barbie waist articulation before working elbows and knees?
Wow, it's Maureen McCormick (sp?). Cute little commercial. Catchy theme and all that. Amazing how a Barbie doll back them cost only $3.00.
This is my favorite Barbie. I have lots of them in my collection.
its so much expensive than the old barbie -.- $1.50 + old barbie ($3) =$4.50 and no more old barbies
it looks so convincing- i want one now😭
Man, I wish I was born then...
Me too
1.50$ was half? So 3$ was the price in the 60s!?
What do you do with your old barbie?
KEEP IT!
I’m glad the old Barbies weren’t scrapped. They went to good homes like orphanages and children’s hospitals. (iirc)
I can tell you what they probably did with my sister's Barbie. They made thousands of dollars off of her 1950's Brunette ponytail Barbie with the strapless Zebra swimsuit. Thanks a lot Marcia Brady ! To this day, my mother believes that Mattel knew that those ponytail Barbies were going to be worth alot and they cooked up this trading scheme to get some of them back. The twist and turn Barbie was my favorite. I traded a bubble haired Barbie for her.
This hits so hard
this is so catchy!
I found 2 unopened boxed Barbies in my moms attic last month, one was this Twist brand.
I wish we can still change are old barbies☹
i think that tis was the prettiest barbie in all her time line!
I have the red head one! And the blonde
one too!
if only all those little girls knew how much their old barbies would be worth later on
Man back then kids are so lucky to trade used toys for better ones for half price 1.50 :(
kay got my dollar fifty
I know, but if I had a time machine I would be buying 8 year old me a fair few vintage barbies.
I wasn't alive near the 60's I'm glad they make remakes
they should bring back the "real eyelashes" on Barbie...lol
curlytoes79 you still can get some with real eyelashes the style barbie dolls have eyelashes. Oh they are now like $30 on amazon and they use to be like 10-15 dollars on amazon. Oh I suppose that the Style Barbie's were made like 2 years ago
You didn't have to trade in a barbie. You could trade in any kind of fashion doll or broken doll. That's what I did, I traded in a knock off. The store still honored the promotion.
They probably got tricked by the knock off
Guys...look...EyElAshEs😯 mmm detail!
How could you say that?! Barbie has been around for, so long.
OMG...was that Maureen McCormick (aka Marcia Brady) in that ad?? I remember getting this doll...and trading in a couple, too!
And what happened to all the old Barbies you turned into the toy store. There are probably stashed away in the toy stores attic, only to be rediscovered in 2018.
They were probably destroyed.
+kaitie648 They were actually donated to children. :)
GuysandDolls That's a lot happier.
bingobongo445 They're probably having a slumber party like the one we saw on Toy Story 2
I love Marina for using this in Su-Barbie-A
I was three when this came out
old barbies were awesome....
wow! That little girl is Christine Taylor.!!
that's actually Maureen McCormick
they had actually eyelashes, something that the newer ones don't have, the old ones are soo much better lol
I wonder what they did with the old barbie dolls? Imagine how much they would be worth now.
Hey that’s Marcia Brady
her real life name is Maureen McCormick
