I’ve been enjoying this malt for ghe last couple of years ( on and off ). Just snagged the newer version for $40 US dollars. That makes it the best budget buy I’ve found in the last 6 years. There is a whisky god!
Great review vid, Rob. Thanks! I totally agree, it's a great dram and hits it out the park on the price to qualify ratio. Here in BC the other bottlings that have similar bang for buck grade (that I've found / tried anywayl are 1) Glen Garioch 12 yr old ($65 all CAD+tax), Ledaig 10 Yr old ($75), Craigellachie 13 yr old ($80), Benromach 10 Yr old ($65), Ardnamurchan AD/01.21:01 ($70) and Mortlach 12 yr old ($73). Not a single malt but Cutty Sark Prohibition (a blend) is also a very good dram and ludicrous value at $50, especially at 50 percent abv. All the above are 750ml too (except Ardnamurchan), so getting a wee bit more than the 700ml offerings.
I love Loch Lomond 18, which might be the best 18 year+ scotch value in the US. In my state it goes for $70-80. I'll have to try the 12 and see how it stacks up!
Totally agree with you Rob, this is a seriously good single malt for the money. I just finished the same bottle that you have 2 weeks ago after having opened it in March 2022. I wasn't sure about it on first taste but as the bottle got lower it really grew on me. It also seemed that the light peat and smoky flavor became more pronounced over time. The new bottling is available at the SAQ here in Montreal for $72, still a great deal at that price. Just ordered my replacement bottle 😉 Cheers!
Ciao Roberto! I got a 1 litre bottle at Gatwick on my way back to Milano for 40 pounds (great value indeed). The slightest hint of peat but overall a nice daily dram. Ciao 👋 Grazie 🙏 S.
Great dram & review. £40 in the UK & one of my favourites. Tonnes of flavour & great Springbank alternative imo. Ironically just poured one, popped TH-cam on & your video was there!
It's good stuff eh. Did it state non-chill-filtered only on the box, or on the bottle as well? Also, keep an eye out for their Inchmoan 12 bottling. It's a heavily peated version with more of a sultana note.
The cheapest single malt in Ontario seems to be the Deanston virgin oak NAS 46ABV at $58, next would be the Singleton 12 yr at $65 but only 40ABV so the Loch Lomond 12 at 46ABV FOR $70 is reasonable considering. As you mentioned in the rant all these will be going up 6% as of April fools day so the Loch Lomand will be around $75. Some others have already jumped up drastically in the last many months for example Lag 16 has jumped up from $165 in Oct to $185 now, after Apr 1 it will be close to $200! I picked up a Lag Distillers Edition earlier last year for $168 and it is now $190 and will obviously be over $200 with the coming increase. Cheers (sort of)
Rob, good review. I was very pleasantly surprised with this bottle especially at $40US about a year ago. Refreshing fruits and malt and maybe a touch of peat.
I am 100% with you on this one Rob. Great single malt semi-integrity offering at the right price point (grabbed one a while ago at $65). The value for money offerings are slim pickings now and consumers are getting squeezed out unfortunately. The LL is no exception as it seems the price has gone up on it too.
Obviously, I ought this when I first started my journey. I remember Ralfy trashing their little slogan "smoothed to perfection" I kept going and bought another single malt right away. It was pretty amazing that there was so much going on in this dram. Sort of a wild one for a beginner. The 18 is well aged.
I hate to break it to you but this is still a $30 bottle around NYC. I think it's hands down the best value in single malt, and has been for some time. Blind in the glass, it drinks like a whisky double its price ✌️
Craigellachie 13 at ten dollars more would be my LCBO best value. Sad that two out of three dollars are taxes, and they either don’t carry many of the best SMs, or are OOS.
How much were they asking for them? I got mine at cost because my brother in law works at a liquor store that gets them. Blue spot for $80, and Gold spot for $90
Couple bucks more gets you Glenfarclas 12, better value for me. At that price though the options are few and far between so the Loch Lomand is definitely welcome!
Cool you enjoy this one so much. I liked it, but it did not resonate quite as much as with you and so many other reviewers. Thanks for sharing though. Cheers!
Good evening Rob What do you think is a good price for me to pay for the Spring bank 10 and 15 year old, and Do you think that Spring bank will fall out of Favour and the prices will fall? Thanks and have a great one man

$40 in the Chicago area. I have always enjoyed it. Really well made.
Definitely one of my favorites in the price range.
Great bottle for the price. Grabbed that, craigallachie 13 and Arran 10 before April 1. All great bottles.
Smart
LL12 as good as Arran?
$30 to $35 in the U.S. I got a gift box with 2 mini's added for $22 at K&L on closeout and the Open 2022 Bordeaux finish for $27 on closeout
Solid prices

Yes, BC has better deals and a much better selection than Ontario.
Pretty soon, this may be the only SM we can afford at the LCBO
(( LOL, no, no... there is always Magnotta 271 Single Malt 3y 40% Canadian SIngle Malt for 40$ - but it qualifies ! kiddin'))
😅

I'll have to try the 12 and see how it stacks up!
I agree. The Loch Lomond 18 is outstanding. I haven't had the 12 yet either but I will pick up a bottle in Vancouver soon.
Wish they had the 18 here
@@WhiskyInThe6 It's excellent and one you definitely want to try and review if you can get a hold of the 18 Rob.

Ya still a great price

That’s a good price for 1 litre. Salute Sandro🙏🏻

Apparently the tax is only applied to one part of the expression. Time with tell.

Solid for sure

They are almost completely gone.

@@WhiskyInThe6 Given the state of things, I should probably pick up a case ✌️
Good on point review. Canada is messed up just now you have our sympathies. 🏴👍
Thank you Henry. Cheers!

I almost bought this yesterday and even cheaper in the US. Only reason I passed was that they had the Blue Spot and Gold Spot.
How much were they asking for them? I got mine at cost because my brother in law works at a liquor store that gets them. Blue spot for $80, and Gold spot for $90
Those are great prices.
And it's going up more 1 Apr. I have half a bottle on my shelf might restock before the increase
Not a bad idea

Very good point. But we are all about diversity.
Cool you enjoy this one so much. I liked it, but it did not resonate quite as much as with you and so many other reviewers. Thanks for sharing though. Cheers!
Right on buddy. Great value in my opinion.

I can only imagine the prices continue to climb based on the hype.

Es u wuiski sabroso
So will go up another few bucks on April 1st too because of tax hike 🤦🏻
Stock up!
Ya unfortunately
I got this around 50 bucks back in 2019

Arran 10 $68

Lagavulin 16 is now $185. Lol?? April 1st it will be $200 probably. Insanity.
