I'd say that paper bag is better at least in regard to the recycling cycle and the fact that it is biodegradable (because recycling isn't always done properly), but also, paper / wood isn't a limited ressource as long as it comes from an artificial forest (because they replant, but I don't know exactly the impact of artificial forest to the ecosystem)
If they'd use bamboo, cork or coconut fiber for the paper bags it would be so much better because trees take Years to grow & the others much less! Coconut food factories use the meat & milk & throw the fiber away. Bamboo is an aggressive grass that is evasive & hard to get rid of after you're tired of it.

And I too watched Hellraiser far too young, my mother would have killed me if she’d known… about most of the horror movies I was watching back then, really. Another amazing artwork and great video! The movie you’re thinking of is Maximum Overdrive… Stephen King movie… and apt name for the train would be Charlie the Choo Choo… which is the name of the evil train in King’s Dark Tower series
It’s less about the resources used to make it but the impact it has on the planet. Paper is easy to recycle and degrades naturally at an okay time frame. Plastic on the other hand isn’t good on the environment to make and it takes thousands of years to degrade naturally and isn’t the easiest to recycle and only certain types of plastic are allowed to be recycled. I love the little toy shop it’s so cute I think the mercury green was a smart idea

I read an article on paper vs plastic a while ago. Basically it takes four times as much energy to make a paper bag than a disposable plastic bag, so if you only use the paper one once (because it gets wet or splits or whatever) but use the plastic more than once (maybe using it as a bin bag at home or for taking in lunch) then plastic wins after 2 uses. But that's assuming the plastic is made using a waste product of fuel production and that the paper bags are already made from recycled materials so can't be recycled again. It was in 2011 so the numbers might have changed since then if they did the study again but google "Comparison of Environmental Impact of Plastic, Paper and Cloth Bags" if you want to read it :)
