This video finally talks about something I've been trying to train this past few months. With chronic anxiety, aiming becomes very difficult for me as your body has natural reactions to threats. Your pupils constrict, effectively making you legally blind for a moment when you are in a clutch situation or an enemy catches you off guard, though this effects everyone to varying degrees. Tensing up/flexing your shoulder and leg muscles also negatively effects your mental state and physical aim capabilities as well, and learning to control it while trying to think what to do in-game is a task that is very, VERY difficult.
ironically i cant aim WITHOUT my legs crossed on my chair lol but maybe thats because im short so if i put my legs down they just dangle which feels more unstable
I also feel uncomfortable if i don't cross my legs - due to my desk height i have to make my chair high, and it's high enough to not give my legs any support - actually surprisingly they have slight support, but it must be high heel style. Anyway i am so used to playing with my legs crossed now. Also any chair other than the chair i use to game(not a gaming chair btw) gives pain to my backsides of my upper legs ( somewhere under the hips)
I had a friend who had the same issue, but they fixed it by just putting something under their legs that made it not dangle, maybe that'll work for you as well?
Actually same tho i guess we just the short group. The thing abt the chair moving is that for me i am usually also aware of my surroundings so i can make micro adjustments for my chair to be comfortable on the spot without having to think abt it too much and ill be able to use the remaining time during to think of my next action and more of what i want to do lol
I won't lie when I say this, the section talking about grips is incredibly useful. I've been improving my aim quite rapidly, and I'm very happy with some of my outcomes through watching videos that give advice and tips... However, I've had more attention brought to me that I have more tremors than any of my friends- my hands twitch, shake, and quiver consistently. It makes dealing with small items impossible, threading needles, putting on jewelry, holding onto tiny things, and much more. Not only that, but it also affects other things, like precision and aim. I've been mildly dedicated to getting better at Valorant, I just find it fun to do. But I find that one thing that causes me to lose my gunfights is twitching and tensing. My hands get all cramped up in stressful situations, some gunfights catch me off-guard, or I get far too overheated and lose what can be considered a free kill, basically. I boiled it down to tension; I get too tense and anxious, which makes comp games a completely different field than unrated, despite it being the same game types (only with added numbers at the end of the game.) I've been working on the anxiety, trying to play comp games like I would unrated: If I can score 25s without a sweat almost every unrated, what's hitting a 20 in comp? But anxiety means tension, and it's hard to aim when your hands are tense and shaking. Not only that, but it's hard to aim when you don't have a solid mouse grip. My ring finger is basically off the mouse. My pinky drags on the mousepad. It gets to a point where it hurts from time to time, and it feels like stability is impossible. But listening to you talk about palm grip, about the pros and cons of all the others, listing off what it can do and what it can improve? I'm gonna give it a try and see how it goes. Just *holding* the mouse like that already feels nicer than how I usually hold it. Hopefully this can help a little bit with all the tension and issues. Will write an update if I do well and remember to check up on this!!
@migswn1491 Act is over, no more sweating comp to get the buddy! This act I'm going to be working as much as possible on the grip, since I have time to relearn and go over all the mechanics I've learned over time. I find it a bit hard to implement the grip, since I'm used to dragging my hand on the mousepad, but I'm slowly beginning to ease into it! 💯 Gonna give it time, and I'm gonna update how it goes
I find it funny.. i always played non-duelist roles (genuinely like playing them) but recently i started playing just duelist only. My confidence is has gotten a lot better and things feel more natural. Feels like a different game altogether
One more tip I recommend is try some other fps games which really on different core mechanics. CS for spraying, Strinova for tracking etc. This actually made me improve extremely fast because of 2 reasons. I was actively training different parts of my aim WHILE still having fun playing some games with my friends instead of sitting alone in Aimlabs but also because it made Valorant feel more refreshing and fun too
I like the part where you talked about how you sit in your chair, monitor positioning, all the way down to how your feet rest. I’m weird cause some days, if I stretch my legs out, my aim is good (less stress = good aim). Other days, they have to be at a 90% angle to give me the most stability cause in my head leg (stability = better aim) I’m glad I’m not crazy 😅
I have a kind of a noobie question but like I have seen pro players shift peek edge track angles isn't shift peeking bad ? like if they are holding that angle won't you get one tapped because they saw you first ?
For the mouse grip section, this is why I think it shouldn't be "taught" in a way that a player SHOULD pick one, but it should only be taught in a way that you can know what strengths and weaknesses you have. The subconscious is more than enough for us to learn aim. Literally just practice aiming in a comfortable position, and you will naturally AND effectively find what works best for you. This is what that one legendary tennis coach said (non verbatim) "The best trash talk is to ask your opponent 'how' they do their technique." Point being: the subconscious is so powerful that most players who are the best at what they do can't even explain how they throw the ball or whatever. They just DO it. If you ask them how they do it, they'll start THINKING about their technique, overthinking takes place. The human mind is powerful af, specifically the subconscious. Idk why Im saying all this for a video game tho 😂
i have a question is it okay if I grip my mouse without my pinky? so my grip is basically a mix palm grip with my pointer and middle finger in a claw grip positon, so basically I use all of my fingers except for my pinky and I'm wondering if is that okay?
I dare everyone to try playing the new esport "GunZ: The Duel" when it releases soon for free on steam if any of yall love a REAL fast paced fps competition
I got a serious question, it's winter season, and my room gets very cold, and same goes with my hands , how to aim? There's no thermostat, or things like that to keep the room warm. Any ideas
i always lead the target shaving off their mustache. Tho the biggest issue is croutch spraying. if i got minigun, i gotta spray, yet if i dont want a bullet in my own kneecaps or ruined ceiling, i gotta croutch for accuracy But that means there are often obstacles between me and the target so i gotta wallbang it or hit the two and a half pixels visible, which aint happening
i just have a problem with spraying when it comes to moment when i have to spray i cant i suddenly start playing bad and missing every shot. i can control my spray and i dont know what happens to me when i spray i dont tend to spray alot in my game.
Um, my palm is always resting on my desk not on my mouse, it just feels like it slips off and I know it doesn't allow me to flick since it creates friction but I think my grip changes a lot depending on how I'm playing... I don't know.
Ngl i HAVE to be uncomfortable when i play. I somehow play better when leaning forward and my neck being super strained, rather than leaning back. I also play better with a basic, hard and uncomfortable chair rather than the comfortable ergo chair in my room, weird
10:51 yoru players be like: Clone=flash flash x2 flash x3 they fr forever blinded now know my chance. (Gets ace) Me: WHIFFS ALL THE SHOTS AND GETS ONE KILL
Get a keyboard and mouse and put it behind your laptop and you can put your elbows on your desk and you'll be closer to your screen plus you'll get more stability out of this posture
small movements dont work in gold lobbies. no one taps (only if their him or her) and they will just spray 7 bullets everytime and somehow kill you thru a wall at the end (im not saying this from experience shut up :D )
stop glazing primmie so hard, especially if your example is bad. The clip is great, but last 2 kills are lucky headshots, chamber dies to movement error lucky hs, last kill is just a random bullet in the burst hitting, not his aim, and movement is terrible on last 2 kills considering the chamber kill.

Agreed. Taking deep breaths to force myself to relax during a match has been helping me to loosen up.
