Yeah some actors are so freaking expensive... But my serious guess would be in 10 years, however that doesn't mean there won't be needed, still facial mocap and body mocap is needed....
Voice simulation still sucks, and it's a field that basically no effort has been put into by Hollywood. We'll still have voice actors for a while, at least.
@@sarfios True , already will smith & others had a CGI clone working beside him, , i think there will always be actors , nothing will ever replace them , but they will be aided with CGI supporting role

I got a quick, non software specific, question for ya. What's your approach for making the eyelid skin move with the eye? I recently made an eye animation and was struggling to find the best approach to doing it. My hack-ish technique was to add a shrinkwrap modifier to the eyelid skin (with the eye as the target) with a soft falloff and low strength. It worked sort of, but it wasn't as clean and convincing as your approach.

If you mean the corneal bulge, in this instance I did it with an Effector in Lightwave. In Blender I use a Warp modifier.

its amazing how much emotion you can display with just one part of the body
Tbh, the revelation caught me offguard, the animation is so smooth and ultra realistic I didn’t expect it to be just the half of a face or the fact that it’s completely computer generated.
It's the most realistic eyeball rendered to date.

In my opinion the eye is one of the most impressing "parts" created by the natural evolution!

That's the excuse of lazy animators who create those crappy new-trend characters (including Disney) that no matter the expression they make, they cause no feelings to us humans whatsoever, as they look too fake and distant from our nature. Uncanny valley can be tackled, it just needs a lot more work and this video is proof. One also can find proof even in the worst realistic animations, as there are always some scenes that are perfect.

I'm just saying that when we open our eyes in a relaxed state (as shown in the demo) we are never looking so down (it's only like that if we are intentionally looking down), we are always looking more straight. This eye is forcing the look very down when it opens. And other movements are erratic. It looks real? Yes. It feels real? No. At least, not yet.

I'm not saying this to be rude, it's actually a compliment. The yellow shade in the eye's would normally indicate some sort of bodily sickness or a symptom of having Hepatitis and I think it adds a great deal to the realism of this. Good job.
