Thanks for your reaction and thanks for coming back to Voice Play! J. None was a full time member of the group but left in 2021 to join the Navy. He is still active duty so he comes back frequently as a featured guest when he is on military leave and other featured guest fill in when J. None is not available. J. None is very talented and has his own solo channel where he writes, arranges, beatboxes, and raps as well as sings (he sings Bass with the Navy but can really sing those high notes as well). Beatboxer, Layne, has been playing violin since he was 4 years old (he asked his parents for a guitar and they gave him a violin instead) and can beatbox while playing violin. This talent has earned Layne the nickname "Violayne". Layne really shreds the violin while beatboxing in Voice Play's "Warriors" so you may want to check that one out (J. None also plays a little violin in that one). To see a little more of J. None's higher voice range, check out Voice Play's covers of "Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "Tennessee Whiskey".
How do you know when a cover arrangement is top-level genius quality? When it perfectly rides the line between the original song and becoming an original song.
Thank you for coming back to VP their covers are amazing, there is not one bad song in their catalogue 🤷🏻♀️ And you met "VioLayne" in this one 🥳 There are two other songs where Layne (the beatboxer) plays the violin, par example their cover of "Warriors" by Imagine Dragons ❤ Their Shorts/Minis are amazing too, if you want Geoff (the bass) in "Rock tenor mode", look at their Mini "Peaches" 👍🏻 Geoff's solo work is amazing too, he gets better and better (if that's even possible 🙈) and he does EVERYTHING himself (arranging, filming, editing, all the harmonies are him). His wife Kathy helps with the costumes, the filming etc. and sometimes Eli (the bald rock tenor of VP) helps with lighting and Layne (who owns Pattycake Production together with former VP member Tony Wakim) helps with the set and the filming ❤ Love the creativity of these guys, they never do a carbon copy, it's always their own 🙏🏼
I love each of the a cappella groups you named. Add Voctave. Of the 4, I think VoicePlay has one a first-place position... but just by a hair. I'm ALWAYS there for a cappella reactions!
J. None was a part of the group before he joined the Navy. He plans on returning after his Navy time is served. Great reaction especially with Violayne making his appearance.
This is still my favorite VP song. Every song/video is great itself, but I like this one every time I listen to it as I liked it the very first time. Oh - and Happy New Year, you both! 🍀🥂 Greetings from Germany! 👋😊
Always enjoy your reactions to Voiceplay. Did we forget to mention that Geoff Castellucci (the bass) started doing solo work during the pandemic? Try his 5 part version of Man of Constant Sorrow; it includes an original bridge that he wrote for it.
You are not alone in wanting to go out and listen to the original after what they’ve done. I am in my 70s and they have introduced me to so many different kinds of music and so many new artists that really aren’t new anymore. I think part of it is that I have a slight hearing disorder (kind of like auditory dyslexia) and I can never hear the lyrics properly when people have instrumentation behind them. And I do think that the lyrics are so meaningful in so many different songs.and now I can more fully appreciate the original, but I almost always prefer VoicePlay’s version😊.
Happy to see another reaction to VoicePlay. This one is wonderful. Violayne returned for the second time ever! This video is the one that caused them to be invited to perform onstage with Chicago in November 2023. This one was Geoff's project/arrangement. It's impressive how very much these guys do for themselves as indie artists and creators.
I love this song. It was originally meant for his girlfriend but they didn't make it together. Metallica band members wanted to do it, but the guy that wrote it felt funny about it. The band talked him into making it for their fans, so that is how Metallica brought this lovely song to the world. VoicePlay did the cover 2 yrs ago and you should have heard the roar when people wondered how an acapella group could to a Metallica song. Chicago got wind of it, checked it out and contacted VoicePlay to get them to the Chicago and Friends Concert a yr ago last November 17-18. The stage manager asked where they wanted the drum kit. Eli laughed and said "He's it" speaking of Layne. Huldra Draco one of the high tier patrons, went up to NJ to see the concert. She took her phone and has videos of VoicePlay singing with Chicago that you can see on her channel.
Hopefully someday you'll react to the bass Geoff Castellucci. He does amazing low bass covers on his channel. He likes to clone himself so he can sing all the harmonies. There is nothing better than four/five Geoff's.

Truly an EPIC cover! The arrangement was next level and the voices were angelic! Best part is that it never gets old. Wow!
You have to react to Vahalla Calling and witness J. None and Geoff taking itnto a whole other level.
They reacted to that one a month ago.
@@johndandrea8034 they got a Voiceplay play list you can check out

Yes his latest Christmas release, ‘Carol of the Bells,’ had over a million listens in less than three weeks
❤❤❤
Gorgeous 😂
It's spelled a cappella, sometimes in English a capella.
Do the original please
