let me say - it took 2021 dead and company 3/4 of a tour to even turn on Oteils bass in the mix. I wonder if its a JM thing - like he wants to drive himself
My favorite band is AC\DC and john is the only one in this generation that plays like those old legend rockers,Great blues great tone. he's got that SRV inspiration!
I can’t handle much of Johns new stuff. He kinda lost me after paradise valley. However, this is on another level. It’s about time for an album of straight blues Mr. Mayer. The world needs it..
You might want to go back and listen to some of SRVs versions of the song it’s no where near as clean and tight as this & tbh a bit sloppy compared to what we hear here. That’s why I laughed reading your comment originally cause it’s kind of oblivious
Why in the hell would anyone want to play SRV's "Slide Thing" without the slide guitar? If Mayer can't play slide, then maybe he should have picked a different SRV song to play.
He's doing what we all guitarist do, play the music of our heroes and the one who inspired us, the difference is that john play it on a big stage with thousands of audience
How dumb are you, his main influence as a guitar player has always been srv, one of the first guitars he used in his early lives was an srv signature with the pickguard changed, he even has srv tattooed on his arm xd
Lol I’m the biggest srv fan out there but even Stevie got his chops from Albert King and Hendrix, he wasn’t a poser cause he played the sky is crying and voodoo child. Mayer has earned his right to play what he wants and pay homage to those that sparked the guitar interest and made him pick up the instrument and start playing. He developed his own style decades ago. Comments like this are narrow minded and imo ignorant. Music is universal and the ability to get on stage and play for millions of people to see a Stevie tune opening a a door for others when he has his own style is not only selfless it’s a gift. He is the furthest thing from a poser in a plethora of digital music today. He is a true musician and a hell of a singer song writer. Stevie, Albert, BB King, Waters, these guys will always be my hero’s, but I tend to like to listen to Mayer more when he is Pretending to play the greats tunes, ignoring his own mark in music today.
You sound a little envious @john pandolfino Like dude everybody is different and has their own sound. He’s just having fun, go spread your hate somewhere else dickhead.
I'd buy an album of John doing all SRV covers
He’d prob earn a Grammy for it
Might as well just listen to srv
Me to, where is the petition I'll sign!
@@evanrichter3893 john different enough that itd be a good listen tho
Wow…you can actually hear the bass on a trio recording! 😄

"Try!" Has lots of bass
Thank you for posting this..!!! Just great..!!
I need to go to a JM3 concert.
I need Mayer doing a full heavy bluesy album
im afriad that might not ever happen. We all pray for john mayer trio to start playing again but it's been a while
He will, right after Sob Rock.
That es-335 got some juice
Love the tone
tones all in the hands my man...
@@andruwthompson it is but still that 335 has some juice. Wouldn’t sound like this on a strat
@@guusverschuuren8495 i mean yeah, but that’s humbuckers vs single coil too. either way, beautiful sound, per usual in John’s case.
The way he flawlessly goes back and forth from fingers to a pick is awesome

The best!
Fabuleux feeling😉
He even makes a 335 look small
He's 6'2 or 6'3 i think so thats why he makes the 335 look small
@@Angelo-wx7gp he 6'3.25. Tall hunk.
@@Angelo-wx7gp pino is even taller lol around 6"10 to 7 feet.
@@yakshrajsingh8121 i know
Gracias hermano!!!!
I wish he would cover Lenny again
This guy is a great guitarist, but look how hard he works trying to play a classic SRV tune, and he didn’t even slide , SRV was one of a kind.
You might want to go back and listen to some of SRVs versions of the song it’s no where near as clean and tight as this & tbh a bit sloppy compared to what we hear here. That’s why I laughed reading your comment originally cause it’s kind of oblivious
Elmore James, not SRV
I'm not a john Mayor fan but I like and respect this!100%
Dear John Mayer. Screw the Sob Rock. Just JM3 and Rock & roll.
Ain’t no SRV Slide Thang!
That e
I see no slide
It's the name of the song he's covering, srv version is played with a slide
I'm not sure, but i think that is not a 335. Could be a 339? The body is smaller.
He’s just really tall so it looks small. It’s definitely a 335
A 339 has the plug in at the bottom of the guitar. 335 has it on top
John being 6'3" just makes it small, pino being like 6'8"
Why in the hell would anyone want to play SRV's "Slide Thing" without the slide guitar? If Mayer can't play slide, then maybe he should have picked a different SRV song to play.
sounds really dried out
Lo siento sr Meyer, esa guitarra suena horrible en ese estilo,
Tu definición de horrible tiene problemas
JM can't hold a candle to SRV... let's be real..
@Tyran Curtis no point... just stating a fact. Don't get me wrong JM is a great player.
@Probably hippies lol just stop trying
He’s not trying to be better he’s trying to have fun playing what he loves to listen to
John Mayer is the better guitarist by far
He's doing what we all guitarist do, play the music of our heroes and the one who inspired us, the difference is that john play it on a big stage with thousands of audience
Wow ! He plays ok…..not up to Bonamassa standards but not bad.
@Probably hippies oh i just carefully answered your comment now i realize you're just a hater
@Steamed ham do you? I’d love to see it
Since when is Bonamassa a standard? The guy plays totally different than John. Shouldn’t be compared. I prefer john but that’s just my opinion
@@guusverschuuren8495 The Mayer guy took lessons from Bonamassa…just sayin.
@@nuendo2496 lol
Poor guy just cant play well
Two years ago he thought he was Clapton.....last he thought he was Garcia.....this year he thinks he's SRV ....... he's a poser
