This dealer seemed straight forward with no games. I would feel comfortable dealing with this place. If they followed through with the price and terms then this is a win win.
All dealers (in this case Toyota) in DFW area have either met or need to meet their month end new car sales number. The way to get the best deal is to find the dealer who hasn’t met their month end number and is therefore motivated to sell a car. This only works during the last few days of each month and the deal must close before the end of the month.
I don’t know how they’re getting away with it anymore? Nobody has money like they did years ago. But these dealerships mark up vehicles, and price them in general like we’re all rich. I don’t know how they’re making money anymore.

I am wanting to buy a 2024 Hyundai Tucson hybrid or 2023 used from Holler Hyundai in Winter Park, FL. I would be a repeat customer. Last time, I bought a used 2015 Sonata sport 2.0 turbo in 2017 and I did not ask for the out the door price and was sold products in the finance office. I want to see if they are actually giving good deals and if they will sell at or below MSRP.
Tomi - How should someone think about working with a sales person who indicates they are the finance, sales manager along with being the sales rep...a 'one stop shop'?
Love this. On a side note, I’ve noticed a lot of newer Ford vehicles that were originally sold in Canada then transported to the United States. Why is this happening? A year ago it was very common around the KC area.
Only fools pay those doc fees. They are fake and solely used by the dealer to increase profit. A $344 doc fee is not cheap. That is $344 for virtually nothing. All those documents are completed while you are in that nice F&I office with that smarmy F&I manager. Do you think those wonderful minutes are worth $344 or more? I have purchased many vehicles in Mass and RI. On every one, including one today, The price or the trade value was adjusted for the dealer's doc fee. Unless you have truly got to the dealer's lowest price (not often) no dealer is going to let a valid sale walk out without giving some consideration for the fake doc fee.
Clicked so damn fast on this; planning to buy the same car but LE in September. My rationale is the summer buying rush will have cooled and they’ll be trying to make space for the 2025s
I wanna see you do "Mark dodge" in lake charles. I do not work there. I've been to the store and tried to negotiate over the phone. The guy I got said "the price is the price" and gave some pretty clear signs I could f off if i didn't want to pay it.
A DOC fee is a junk fee. If they insist on leaving it in just tell them they can leave it in but you want that deducted from the final top line price. If they say no just start walking out.
I think the doc fee can depend on local customs and traditions. In OH, the doc fee is 10% of the car value, up to 250. Many places now just change $250 and flat rate it across the board, which isn't the best but it can prevent a lot of problems. In a state that caps fees under 300, it's likely non-negotiable and in states without a cap it's a sign of how much they are going to gouge you.
Those doc fees are always negotiable. They are not legally required and are always a choice by the dealer. They are fake. They are simply part of the price. The price includes all dealer costs including the very minor amount for documents. What is true is dealers are required by their attorneys to list the fee on every contract if they charge the fee to one customer. If not they can be sued. But that does not mean you need pay the fake fee. Just reduce the price by the fee. Just today, my daughter bought a new vehicle. After negotiating the price the sales person tried to add a $400 doc fee. She balked saying she would not pay it. The price was reduced by the doc fee.
Any fee that is not required by law or manufacturer is always negotiable. If they want to charge the fee just for show, tell them to give a equivalent discount on the price.
Tomi, this is a great example of how to negotiate a deal. However, I wish Florida's DOC FEE was that low. As of 2 months ago, Florida's DOC FEE is over $1000!! Is it possible to negotiate the price on that down?
My humble opinion: this is good. I think there are web sites out there rating dealers.... maybe coming up with the comprehensive criteria and then let the viewers fish using it might be better. If you continue the series...showcase the worst of the worst for more entertainment value lol.
I did it I bought a new car on my own and it was so easy was a Mazda had 2500 off on preferred and select cx 50 they were very nice people didnt try any games paid cash 31000 and some change
Whenever a customer asks for my best price, I simply tell them the price we have advertised online already. If it wasn't a good price, we wouldn't advertise it. If the customer disagrees, he can make us an offer. I am not discounting the car without first getting a commitment to buy from the customer. No commitment, no discount. This is also why customers can often negotiate a better deal in the store than over the phone. You have to give something to get something. Dealers will trade a smaller profit for the assurance, or at least greater likelihood, that a deal will be done quickly.
Did you block your number, or maybe use a number spoof app when calling? If not, i would be suspicious of dealers posting a sticky note with your phone number on every phone, with the intention of getting a good audit from you.
You never had a video about negotiating a lease deal using your leased car as your trade. Im thinking I need to first agree on the out the deal. Then at that time try to deal on the lease. Right? Can you do a video on that?

Why don't you simply negotiate with a major dealership that handles every brand of vehicle? Tell them if they are willing to give you so much off every vehicle you will direct every customer to them. Over time they can sell you dozens of vehicles rather than just call many dealerships for a one-off? That would make your job easy, I.E. someone calls for a Toyota, you call "your guy" deal done, no games, no back and forth.
Few different reasons, every dealership is different on the deals they want to give. Sometimes they give great deals, other months they aren't willing to discount.
