Hannah asked this question becauses she is biracial and people always tell her she has "good hair" because it grows fast but is it really true that its really hard for black women to truly grow long hair.
Hair Tip #1 Black is naturally more prone to breakage unlike our straight haired friends because at every bend of our curls, waves, coils, and kinks, is an opportunity of breakage. Now add a chemical relaxer, daily flat ironing, and tight braids to the equation, and it will be just about impossible to grow long hair!
Hair Tip #2 Black hair is also more dry because our natural hair and scalp protectant (sebum) cannot effectively reach down the strands of our hair with ease to protect the hair from losing moisture/water.
Jojoba Oil is the ONLY oil that closely mimics sebum goo.gl/PhPA9d
Hair Tip #3 There is hope! If you have a good hair care regimen, limit your use of heat and chemical treatments, you WILL GROW LONG HAIR! The process truly works everyone.
Think about working out for a moment, if you ate right and worked out every day for 6 months, you would see weight loss and if not, your body will build muscle and look more shapely.
What if you treated your hair well and took the necessary steps to maintain a good hair regimen, would you see growth in 6 months?
Thanks For Watching!

I tried to explain this to somebody (a black woman) and not only did she debate this fact but when I showed her pictures of black women with long natural hair, she proceeded to tell me they were mixed. Some p people are just ignorant.

Pretty Lauren ..Yes very ignorant and I think they WANT to believe that some Black women can't have natural long hair. Sadly I don't really like talking to black women anymore because the conversation almost always turns to how did i get my hair so long, or is it all mine...i don't even like to wear it out anymore.
I am black and have always had long thick hair. As a child my hair was to my butt and then fir most of my life almost waist length. You should show her 22nd Century Woman and Rezorempress. They are dark skin with different hair . 22nd century women is dark skin with tailbone 4b hair!
My hair grows in thickness not in length. It's so annoying
Ethereal Genesis omg same.
Ethereal Genesis mine does both but more thickness before length
Ethereal Genesis same
Ethereal Genesis mine too
RIIGGGHHTTTT LIKE OMG DOESNT HAIR GET IT ITS THICK ENOUGH WE JUST NEED LENGTH
The trick to growing my natural hair from neck length to armpit length was keeping my hair in protective styles at all times, except when it was "wash day". It took 6 years to grow that long, but that's because I didn't start wearing protective styles until only a couple years ago... The less u touch your hair, the more it will grow. So leave your hair alone!
I am a Black Woman and my hair grows fast. Every black women hair can grow fast as long as they take good care of it. Our ancestors always took care of their hair, and their hair grew fast and stayed healthy.
"Everyone has good hair." I've been saying that for years and no one believes me. #tiredofblackhairmyths
Gena Gilder. Not true, tangle hair is not soft, that is why your race straighten their hair. Most men prefer soft long hair.
If afro textured hair is well managed, it is soft. I don't know where you got that idea from. We straighten our hair because we like to see how long it is. We used to chemically, and some still do, straighten our hair to fit in with mainstream society or because we don't like to deal with our hair when it tangles. But I'm 100% sure you only replied to me to be a pendejo and put black women with afro hair down.
Carlos Flores yes everybody's hair is beautiful and unique and fudge what men think we are beautiful
Gena Gilder I don’t have good hair at all . I was natural for 3 years and my hair grew up it wasn’t long you almost have to be naturally for 5 to 6 years to get your hair long . Are hair always grew slower than other races . I never had good hair i wish I did I wish had looser curls because they’re easy to take care then tight curls because it neeeds more moisture and easy to break . I disagree all hair ain’t good hair .
Gena Gilder right ESPECIALLY black people.
My hair fell out completely twice within two years, I was diagnosed with lupus. My hair is now to the top of my back, my ponytail is long and what I do is very old school, scalp your hair ladies with grease and use moisturizing oil to keep it moisturized. All the women who grease their hair in my family has hair to their back, we're not mixed either. My hair grew back longer within 2 years now its past my neck about 1/2 inch past the top of my back and its still growing. Black women don't let your hair get dry! We need oil!
Do you use blue magic??
Girl 101 yes I've used that before but what made my hair grow was lustrasilk moisture max oil moisturizing lotion its $6 but it made my hair healthy and strong
Angel Wright mmm I think I'll go back to it because it made my hair strong as well and kept my scalp well moisturised, I don't know why naturals are saying it's bad all of a sudden

Honestly, the only black women that I've seen who have long hair are the ones who know how to take care of their hair because every head is different and they've learned what to use for it, no matter if it's relaxed or natural. My hair seems to grow half an inch monthly but it varies for everyone

LADIES STOP HEAT DAMAGING N PERMING YOUR HAIR
No Brooke your wrong I've gotten perms before. a perm can either be curly or straight I have 4c hair type and I've been getting perms since I was 8...perms and relaxers are basically the same thing except there are two different kinds of perms
Esdot StPeterz
Yep, perming ur hair too much will definitely break ur hair off.
I condition my hair
Exactly
Jada Nicole I have 14 inch
I'm a white man and that's a lie my wife is black and has thick natural long hair
I’m black and I have long hair just moisturise it everyday and your hair will start to grow
Black women can grow long hair. My mother (RIP) was a dark skinned full black woman. She grew her hair to the middle of her back. I have full black cousins with waist length hair. When I was younger, people thought that my hair was weave or fake because I'm dark skinned and it was below my shoulders. Each person has to find a hair regimen that works for them. All Black people have beautiful hair regardless of length or texture.
Hello happy friday would like to know what products were use on your mother hair sorry to heard she is no long here may her soul rest in heaven
Moisture is key to our hair.
Black girls can have long hair I am black and my hair is half way down my back. So if u think all black girls wear weave they don't and they can still have long hair
my dad is from Africa and my mom is indian so that whole Ethiopian thing is a lie
***** Don't be stupid, how many countries in Africa are there that you researched on? I'm black African, no mix, my sister and I both have long thick healthy hair.
This is true. My sister is American black, she's 9 years old and has thick hair down her back. My mother's hair is long. Mine used to be long until relaxers. I just had to cut some off, due to me not taking good care of it.
My hair is down my back too. My dad is a black american and my mom is Haitian.
this so true my Sister And I Are mixrd With White, Indian, and black and we Have hair past are Shoulders are hair grows 1/2 Inches a Month
yes some black women can grow long hair as well...but it's all about genetics and as much as we don't want to hear about the word genetics...it has a huge role to play in regards to hair growth rate, length and thickness....there's something called terminal length as well...in which your hair reaches a certain length and then stops.....so yes some black women hair can grow really long but it's all in the persons genes as well.
ALA LA Yes that is my problem my hair has been the same for 13 years no longer than to my back don't neck I have been using hair products and vitamins nothing helps, it's heart breaking.
Happy1966 I want to prove you wrong that your hair will grow. What is your routine now? I really want to give you hope. I can help.
Righttttt
ALA LA What do YOU think genetics are? They are NOTHING more than traits passed down from one generation to another.
What are traits? Habits practiced over such a long period of time that they become inculcated onto genes.
In other words..do something long enough and your body will start doing it or exhibiting it on its own. AND impressing the commmand sequence for that action on yiur genes..to be passed down.
So "genetics" is a cop out. If you take care of your hair and your family members do it, your hair WILL grow long and strong..in a few generations, even with neglect, your kids will have long, strong hair, because their hair will respond to the commsnds you instilled. This is how genetics work
My sister's hair never grew past her neck.
When it was neck length she thought her hair was long.
My hair fluctuates between bra strap and hip bone length.
My sister thought her hair could never, ever grow. I started helping her with her hair.
She fell off, then really listened. Now her hair is almost to her brs band. After almost 55 years of very short hair.
Did her genetics change?
No sis, her hair care and knowledge did.
Newyear2018 Get sisterlocks, you will retain your shed and new growth with no breakage.
Or use onion juice to prolong the anaphase of hair growth.
I truly believe its all genetics.
Real talk. One can moisturize and all that because that will make your hair healthy but healthy doesn't equate to long. With a lot of black hair it's not in the flick or the wrist but how our genetics flick it's wrist.
I agree
Yes
Agree. My hair has been the same length for 12 years
I think its in genetics to make excuses
healthy hair is good hair!!!
Hughnita Martin my hair was healthy but it’s not good hair all types ain’t good hair loser curls are always better and easy to take care . I hate my hair I wasn’t blessed I wish I was mix it would be easy to take and look better and tighter curls grow slower
TheReal Kbozkboz tighter curls grow at the same rate, it's just that shrinkage makes it look shorter
TheReal Kbozkboz 💀💀💀💀💀 You’re ignorant.....
Hughnita Martin AMEN! The exact reason I thrive for healthy hair verses long hair. Of course when it grows I about six inches, I big chop. Why? Much easier to take care of, and also much cheaper. Plus my wash regimen is quite easy and faster to get done.
TheReal Kbozkboz you do know that blacks can have beautiful and better than mix people hair I've seen mix people with really bad hair.
Yes ma’am. You spoke nothing but the truth! I especially loved when you said that “all hair is good hair.” Much love xxx
I'm a black man who was raised by black women so I don't need to watch this video to know why black women's hair grows slow or not at all...... All you have to do to get your hair to grow is not put relaxer or texturizer in it... once you put those chemicals in your hair it dries your scalp and damages your hair follicles so your hair grows slower than it normally would.
most black women don't know that because they start using relaxer so early in life that they never got to see how fast their natural hair would've grown if they had never put relaxer in it.
just look at black men who grow long hair: their hair always grows way longer than black women's hair because most black men who grow out their hair don't put relaxer in it because they are not embarressed to be seen with their natural hair in public.
So true.
Having a relaxed hair doesn't equal short hair
@@Arie751 no but it equals a damaged scalp and hair follicles. My hair grows quickly but 26 years of chemical processing has caused one area to be thinner and grow slower than the rest 😟
Just mist and condition your hair every day when you take a shower and seal in moisture with oils. Also twist your hair up and wear cap at night or get a satin pillow case. Most women I know with natural hair have long hair just find products that work for you
im a white woman who takes care of her hair like a black woman in terms of using protective styles and using lots of oils and since then its become insanely long. i plateaued for Years before I took advice from other hair types. Black women you are beautiful. "Good hair" is such a joke. We need to learn how to care for our hair and the rest of ourselves for that matter not try to have it like someone else
I think this girl was trolling. Why would she care if black girls can grow hair if she does not have our hair type.
Ive been growing my hair for 13 years.I spent 11 years going natural and my hair was still extremely short.Afther 2 years i started getting perms bc i wanted straight hair but i stayed natural to grow.Afther 13 years of no cuttings and 3 slight trims my hair isnt even to my shoulders. It makes me sad bc ive always wanted long straight hair. And ive just thought maybe i want achieve that in my lifetime.
There's still hope! Wash once a week, protective style every week. Don't touch your hair in between, don't comb dry. Only brush when wet and saturated with conditioner from root to tip. Condition hair in sections, and leave to air dry in twists! I was once like you but I promise you can achieve long healthy hair. Its not as complex as you think, no need to for 20 hour wash days and tedious moisturising sessions just tend to your hair once a week
It also depends on what you eat and hormones eat a lot of healthy food and especially lettuce
@@AA-de8mf No there isn’t. You have the slowest growing hair out of all races and the most breakage.

Breanna, I appreciate the time you take in presenting your information concerning hair care and various hair styles so professionally. God bless you in your endeavors. I believe it does not matter if you wear your natural hair, braids, or a weave, it is important to remember to take care of your natural hair as well as the extensions. Black people are not the only ones that wear weave. If you take a look at a lot of old movies with White actresses even to date they too where weaves and extension in their hair. Even on TH-cam you can find tutorial with Whites and other ethnic groups adding weave and extension to their hair. I will rock my natural, braids, or a weave it doesn't mean I hate my race or I am trying to be like another race or that I don't take care of my natural hair. It is actually fun wearing different styles, colors, or length without having to put all the stress on my own hair. It is no different than rocking your own sense of clothing style...as long as you are happy with who you are that is what is most important...we should embrace, encourage, and respect one another as oppose to attempting to degrade or belittle one another...If your hair is long, short, straight, coily, kinky, or you have no hair at all be confident in what you do and don't let anyone steal your joy or your shine...Peace and Blessings to all!!!
Not black people just black girls. I'm a guy and in two years my hair longer than majority of black girls I date but it has to do more with hair care than being black
I'm gonna tell my hair "You are good, now please look good"😖😞😞😞great video though

I have a black mom, and her whole family is black... Yet all the women on her side of the family mostly have huge afros, or middle back length, waist length, or long dreadlocks.. it all depends on genetics, health, and what fits or works out for you. I'd use the wild growth oil. It speeds and helps out with hair growth. I have 3a/b type hair that used to be to my knees until I kept using heat to look more... Well... *WHITE* But now I'm embracing my curls and it's to my middle back now. The wile growth oil works out a lot 👍😊
Hello! I am a fellow white person lol I just wanted to say your guys is so fascinating it’s gorges and you guys style it amazingly !
Im black and my hair is down my back it grew once i stop putting in perms in it i i like my curly
Some people, regardless of race, will never have long hair. This is fact. The best way to get the hair you want is to take great care of and love the hair that you have.
That why I love locs for coily hair, low manipulation and hair grows long.
U should rephrase it to Why do black WOMEN hair don't grow fast
I just saw this video I think our hair is prone to breakage due to extreme dryness and it takes a lot of care and moisture and what we eat plays a big part from the inside...we need to stop relaxing and braiding to much and give it a break sometimes let it breath.

I believe in evolution and the reason why black people hair cant really grow long is becaue black people used to live in Africa and they had short hair so they weren’t hot meanwhile people with long hair needed it for cold environments
Wow I found out that I have 4c hair, very kinky and curly dry looking and it grows faster when I have it in braids or protective hair styles. Right now I'm rocking the big chop and it's growing now since I did the big chop and waited until I got all the chemicals out now it's time for braids. Every since doing the LOC method my hair grew better. Thank you
You're welcome Iyauna Dearing you are well on your way, Im glad I could help c:
Omg me too and im a 3c
I am so glad to see you make this video because there is so much ignorance about black hair......i am bi racial and my hair grows relatively slow. I didn't really see much growth until I started sealing my hair with coconut oil and trimming my ends. I got so tired of telling folks that when the media portrays that straight hair or curly hair is better it causes hatred between light skin and dark skin girls instead of teaching them all hair is good hair if it's healthy hair.
It works against gravity so until it’s long enough for gravity to pull it down OR you keep it braided and beaded and oiled it won’t just fall
That's stupid, black people hair do grow some even fast. Hair growth is based on your diet, health, genes. Also how you taking care of your hair. Too many black girls spend more time and money on their weaves, wigs than own hair. Not learning to take care of their own hair. I had long hair pass my shoulders, before I cut it off, and try going natural, with some light flat iron. I make my own hair care products. I l don't let hair dressers touch my hair, never make that mistake again.
People have hair that is conducive to their environment. Most black people are from Africa and not only their hair, but their bodies are built for hunting. It's purely genetic. White people come from Europe where the sun doesn't shine too much hence the fair skin. Brazilians are in warmer weather hence their skin color. We are all the same, but our bodies just adjust to the environment we're living in.
buily for hunting? exuse u but my body was built for living😕

How come whites do not put ANY effort into growing their hair but we blacks have to 'just use this' and 'stop doing that' and 'try more' of one thing or the other' ?

you don't have to be mixed to have long hair I'm all black and as you can see on this picture my hair is very long and healthy I also have a black daughter and her hair is down to her back taking care of your hair and treatment with the love and tender care that it deserves instead of putting perms and cutting your hair it's not hard it just takes love and dedication
It grows at the same pace as most in each race.
Black or type 4 hair has the least amount of keratin layers (aka enamel layers) so it is easier to damage and break.
What affects growth? Improper care, improper nutrition, keeping hands in the hair, using destructive chemicals or hair accoutrements like fake braids, wigs and weave which can cause or contribute to friction, pressure, traction alopecia.
#1 cause of slow hair growth is breakage from overuse if heat, products, chemicals, weave and too much manipulation.
Hair grows best when it is left alone.
Im black and my hair is long (not weave) If u keep treating your hair it will grow and get
Tap for tips for your hair if u have black people hair

•Keep product on for a longer amount of time

This was very informative. I've always been sort of interested in the nature of black hair. And because I don't have any close friends that are A.A., I don't really have the opportunity to be exposed to that education.
And asking always seems to be such a sensitive thing for people like me who have the only best of intentions of just learning about something about other people that I don't have experience with, and not coming from a negative place with my curiosities without mistakingly being accused of something that is the farthest from my mind.
Looking forward to checking out more of your videos.
Happy Holidays! :-)

Genetics plays a part in hair type and growth too, not just how hair is cared for.
I’m a retired hairstylist and I’m so glad you are explaining our hair growth. Knowing how to care for your own hair is important. Our hair grows out and straight hairs grown down. There’s to many African American who relax and burn out their hair and wearing braids and weaves too tight has destroyed so many WOC’s hair. I’m not a weave or braid wearer and never have been. The last time I wore a wig was 1970! And my last chemical treatment was over 25 years ago. I really hated hearing Black clients talk about their nappy, not growing, burned out in the back hair as not being good hair. I tried being very frank without being rude or blunt but so many women would say ‘oh Kay I won’t, and yes I’m hearing you and I’ll be back in ex amount of weeks. Next time they come in, same thing with an excuse. I got so I would just hold up my hand and proceed with whatever she was paying me to do. Again, thank you for your information and I’m sincerely hoping that women take this info and digest it B4 they buy that boxed relaxer from Walmart. Take care,

The reason is keep hair moist

Black people can grow their hair, keeping your hair in stretch and protective styles is the best way.
+CheezInspector Your comment doesn't really make sense
Njeko Nwakile You don't understand the evolutionary theory that thick hair shielded the scalp from a hot African sun and that a short set-point length would have kept Africans cooler under that oppressively hot sun, in the absence of modern-day, man-made shelter?
OK this is what I think. I agree with everything u said. And basically black hair can grow just as fast and as long as any other race of ppl(duh right!?) But its just harder and requires more work to grow the length and actually keep the length
Meow Gatita I don’t agree that it requires more work. There are black people with 3c/4a hair textures that don’t have the same hair regimen that I have as a 4c. It’s not more work at all, you have to know your own hair. For example, since I am a 4b/4c I know my hair thrives with moisture and being stretched which lessens the opportunity of single strand knots. I also know my hair is low porosity which means I have to make sure I use steam or some sort of heat to open my cuticles so that my products penetrate my hair strands. That’s information I know off the bat, so since I know this information I can now design a regimen. To flip this, if I am a 3c gal with high porosity hair I know that one my curl pattern is looser and that my cuticles need to be closed with a cool water rinse or cold products to seal in my moisture. Because I know my hair I can now develop a regimen. So don’t say it requires more work because even those looser textures require learning about your hair so that you’re not doing a 4c regimen on a 3a type of hair, it wouldn’t work and the 3a would have major product build up or have to wash much more frequently. Also, regular trimming is required for all hair textures to thrive, because it’s no use in having long hair with 4 inches of heat damaged hair right? When people say type 4 hair is “hard” it means they don’t know how to take care of that type of hair and are still in a learning phase. Don’t forget there is a different between fine, normal, and coarse hair textures, this also plays a part in how the hair grows. Fun fact and then I’m finished, most black people have a type 4 kinkier hair texture than the looser traces ellis Ross type. I emplore you to get educated on your hair and I promise once you have been educated on your hair you can develop a regimen and see results with a regimen designed to fit your hair. Good luck.
I've had long hair since I was a baby lol idfk what ppl are talking bout. There either has to be something in your genes or your hair just takes longer than others lol
Same here lol

Im a white girl and my hair is not growing fast. I cut it last year and it only grew up like 1 inch. It does not mean that ur a black girl
black women back in the 70's hair grew and black men hair grows, so it's something that they are doing or not doing to their hair.
The Greenhouse Effect method is a curly/kinky girls best friend. Trust me.
I have never been interested in my hair at all........watching your videos I'm like so into it
Black hair can grow it's just that in the follicles our hair is like a tangled rope/phone cord so it has to uncoil like a rope or cord before it comes out the pores.
My hair grows extremely fast. You just have to treat it and take care of it!
Keep it moisturized and put up
You're so lucky! You're hair grows like a normal person. I went bald, like completely bald, in 2010 and then I ended up having to shave it again in 2011 because it was so damaged it wasn't even growing back in right. Cut to 2017, My hair is JUST now reaching my neck (when combed out of course, when curly it's like a halo that just reaches past the nape). It's still really thin in areas. Guess, even with my Puerto Rican and Cherokee ancestry (the rest of me is African American and even some of that is from Barbados) and I get kinda down that I have such ugly-at-times hair. My youngest brother, who has a different father so he is Puerto Rican and African American (some of that Barbados origin), has WAY prettier hair than I do. Before he had it cut down at the barber's, it was like silk that curled. I am very upset that I didn't get the "good hair" and I'm the only girl out of 4 siblings :( That all said to say, all my hair growth is done painstakingly slow. I've seen some women on these kinds of videos showing how their hair was super short 5 years ago and now it's down to their mid and lower backs... Mine isn't even shoulder length. Then again, I am a single mother at the moment (the husband in my pic and I had to call a TO and I think we better keep that going for the foreseeable future) and I OFTEN neglect myself and caring for my hair because I'm so exhausted after caring for my two youngins all day. I will continue to do my best, which probably will continue to not be enough, but it's a DREAM for me to have hair like yours.
Heat perms dye weave girl can be a factor
You can grow long relaxed hair tho...
I'm a guy. but I have always wondered why it was so hard to grow or most have fake hair.
thank you very much for explaining this.
Everyone can grow their hair long! :D
I've met an Australian who was half Chinese and half Russian
Her hair was long, I think down to her chest, but she said it took her five years to get that length after having chopped off most of it. My hair is barely two years natural, and I'm already close to her length (when straightened). So I feel like no matter if your hair is the straightest or the kinkiest, it doesn't really affect your hair growth. That depends on genetics and length retention.
I really like your vids. You make very good points, and I love your fro. It just shapes your face so well!
wow this is a must watch for every black woman! it's an #eyeopener ..You get to learn so much about your hair within a couple of minutes!
Thank you. Finally a young lady who knows about black hair.
i think it depends on the person
im full african both parents grandparent so on and so forth are all somali, east africa people my hair reaches my butt and its not kinky or hard or nappy nor is it completely soft or straight its incredibly thick and curly
a lot of african girls i know are like this,
why you so offended? did i say something offensive?
oh my bad do you think kinky, nappy and hard hair is a bad thing? hard to tame, yes but bad? no,
Christine Nigeria
so using the right words to describe hair texture is offensive? why? how should i describe kinky or hard hair?
but ya'know what they say ignorance is bliss, id rather go on living my life, then be offended or butthurt by basic things, lol do you attack everyone who uses those 'descriptive' words?
lifes been treating me amazingly, hopefully same with you, and i have seen hard hair, maybe you havent idk, but where im from heaps of people have different textures and some are just downright hard,
My hair is very kinky. And i have the worst shrinkage lol. Im 14 and i recently gone all natural because my hair was damaged from perm and heat. When i cut it i thought it was so short. So my mom said every Friday is my wash day and during the weekend she will braid my hair. So the first week rolls up and blah blah blah its friday i wash it with shay butter shampoo and conditioner and my mom put some type of hair oil (sorry i forget) and braided my hair. The weekend ends and its Monday. I take out the braids and. I. Was. Shook. My hair was literally sholder length(when i stretched a hair chunk ig) i was actually so happy i went natural.
Girl this is a Godsend! Thanks
here's several ideas for treating african american hair naturally
Make sure you take enough vitamins (A,B,C,D, and E all help your hair)
Take sufficient Calcium and Zinc.
Don't wash your hair too much
Have your hair trimmed a little fairly often
Use conditioner
god made us including our hair the way he intended for us to be, we are not to question it, other races are extremely jealous of black woman especially. we have been given a gift as well as black men and that is, multiple hair textures that we have to just be patient and figure out how to manage the beauty of it, as well as our multiple completions. love what god gave you and the answers will come.
I have really curly hair, but my hair doesn't take long to grow, AND I'm African American. What's this supposed to mean??
My hair grows super fast, but I have a problem with breakage, and I can't seem to get it to grow past my mid back.
I'm mixed, ,my son's dad is black. My son's hair will not grow passed a certain length it will grow out turn blondey and then all the blonde hair breaks off at the end of summer. Then it's short again... his hair is curly but it's still not growing
I used to have a severe receding hairline, till an elderly hairstylist told me that if I want my hair to grow back in, I first need to stop ripping my hair out of my head. She told me pulling the hair up into a ponytail and bun rips the hair out, continuously, causing bald spots and poor hair growth. She told me to braid my hair into la oose braid instead. Well, I did exactly that, stopped wearing buns, ponytails, hair clips, Bobby pins and anything else that irritated my scalp, and or pulled at my hair. Within 3 months my bald spots filled in, and my hair grew like magic. Such a simple cure. It never occurred to me before, I thought it was hereditary pattern baldness. Now I notice the same problem with countless other women, all pulling their hair up into ponytails and buns.
Of course all hair grows, us as black women have a natural coil so it may seem as though it doesn't grow in length while it does. Also since the hair grows in a coiled pattern there is a lot of shrinking which makes it seem as though the hair doesn't grow in length when it does. Like she said word to the wise Ladies learn to Moisturize the hair more often to help achieve your natural hair length goals. Moisturizing alone wont give you the desired length but sure can help.
Well i can say one thing black people actually age slower ( it depends on the person) but our skin is thicker and tighter. And we have this type of skin that wont damage from the sun rays my grandmother shes 56 and shes looks like shes in her mid 40s. Im 13 and people said i look 10. My moms 34 but looks 28. My sister acually looks 3 years older. And not to mention my dad hes 39 and everybody says including people in my family said he looks like hes 25 not kidding he does
I've noticed this too! people with lesser melanin seem to develop wrinkles&signs of ageing much earlier and the most extreme example of this are the white people.
***** yea

That's because melanin is an absorber.
I'm 16 and people always mistake me for 13.
Melanin is life force that's why black people look so youthful.
Thank for the vid im 11 and really wont long hair due to all my friends having long ,manageable hair.I understand morexx
also loving the teex
Excellent information! This really sheds light on some very specific things.

Well, it' annoying when a little black girl has long hair until her mother relaxes it. I have a little cousin that had hair down to her butt (literally). Her mother took her to the salon to get a relaxer and the next time I seen her, her hair was shoulder length. I was so mad, because I didn't understand how you can see black hair growing down to butt without a relaxer just to relax it and have it shoulder length. What was the point?
I couldn't tell if my hair was damaged or not it all looks the same to me lol. I just use the LOC method and hope for the best. It's growing just fine sooo i'm cool.
I believe anybody can have really long hair all it is that you need to work on the health of your hair/scalp and also you need find a hair routine that works for your hair and stick to it.
Genetics plays a large role.
I'm African-American and my hair grows really long, it runs in my family.
My mum has forced me to heat style my hair every week from a young age. It’s terrible for my hair and it’s why my hair is shorter than shoulder length. I want to try and keep it in protective braids when I’m able to but she isn’t black and she looks down upon my natural hair :(
This was so cool for me to watch. I'm not black but I'm adopted & have crazy curls & the women in my family were never into hair & makeup but I have always loved it. My hair is very curly & have tried to grow it out but it always seemed to either stop at a certain point or be so dry that I'd need to get it trimmed. Now I know why! I never thought about moisture because my scalp is oily & I didn't want to make it worse. Now I know that I need to focus on getting moisture to the ends of my hair. You'd think I'd have figured that out by now but I never put it together. So thank you. You're really helping people from all ethnicities so you should feel happy about that. Do you have any suggestions for getting moisture to all types of hair? Even just at the bottom or starting mid way down?
Thanks so much Breanna you are so awesome.
Did you know ??. Instead of using harsh shampoos on your hair you can also use aloe vera gell for that very same purpose. Dilute jell from plant leaf into a few cups of warm water, massage vigorously into hair and scalp, once hair is covered it feels soapy, lèave in for as long as you're comfortable, cover using your shower cap because it can be a bit messy, rinse and towel dry..(done).. lol enjoy your beautiful, shiney, luscious hair also if you add 1 tsp of jell or less into a glass of ice cold water you can have a nourishing drink while waiting 😄👋👋. Bye Bye to pimples hello to beautiful, skin, Hair and nails as well.
I'm black and i have a soft hair, most black people hair are tuff as fuck,am also a male
Rahiem Turner You're also MIXED if you don't have the nappy.
I'm full light skin black mate
Rahiem Turner No such thing as FULL light skinned Black.. ROFLMAO.
Are you "F"ing serious, damn man I can't believe you would post that. Too funny.
But my hair is soft compare to my brother
And your point is..?? You have some white or Asian in you somewhere down the line or you would NOT have soft straight hair, it's impossible for a pure blood black to have soft straight hair.
I want to know do u agree with the term Nappy to describe our hair? This is a subgect that bugs me. I had a long debate on it just yesterday.
I believe it is the connotation in which "nappy" is used. When I hear/use the word my first thought is coily. However, if I hear someone else who doesn't have this texture of hair or may be referring to "nappy" hair I think of it as condescending. Some women LOVE their NAPPY HAIR, some hate to even be considered as having "nappy hair." So, I would say it's a very subjective view. I say if you like it, own it. If not, don't be upset with it just own your own description.
Nappy does not mean dry. If you don't know the definition please educate yourself on the term. Nappy is a term that was socially developed to described "tightly coiled or unaltered hair."
However, if you believe that "nappy" is synonymous with "dry" then this proves my point that the meaning is subjective. Subjective means that your definition is based on your personal opinion.
In regards to agreeing with the term, I'm indifferent. The only issue I have is when people use it to demean women who have "naturally nappy" hair.
Nappy truly means uncombed, unkempt hair. Therefore, really any ethnic group can have nappy hair. I've seen this first hand. However, the term originated as a slur to describe slave hair (blacks) because we obviously weren't allowed to bring our styling methods when we were forced here to the Americas. So no, I don't agree with the term, it really should be extinguished.
GratefulJewel GJ It really depends how use you use the term, to me, nappy means Afro hair in it's natural coily state. Also, when people make fun of my hair by call it nappy, they're kinda using the word in a different meaning. Ain't nothing wrong with nappy hair, since I was a child, my hair has always been nappy even when it wasn't tangled. Even now, when my hair is relaxed, people still refer to my hair as nappy, even though it's untangled. When people use the term 'nappy' in a negative way, their usually referring to the texture of your hair. Your hair can still be kept and combed, and still be called nappy by people.
