Zd racing 1/8 rcs are not meant for stunts and jumps. They're safe with just high speed offroading

Lowest price I've seen on the Pirates 3 kit was $144 USD shipped. Almost pulled the trigger and I'm kinda glad I didn't. Btw this was the most enthusiastic review ever done by Vas lol.

I agree here, I bought the other clone from Banggood, the Eachine ZD Pirates 3 and after two runs things broke. Probably the last time I venture into ZD racing again. Mine had broken pieces on delivery from Banggood, the box was so mangled that the bumper was broke along with the body. Two things to stay away from in the RC world at this point in my opinion, ZD and banggood. Great stuff Vaz.
Not all Rcs on banggood are junk. I got 2 of my favorite Rcs from them and that's the dhk maximus and jlb cheetah. Both really tough, durable rcs. But I do understand what you mean. Only negative about the cheetah is having to wait on parts from China. Thankfully the maximus has a few US companies that support it eith parts
I have to admit the eachine stock is too heavy for hard bashing, especially with stock wheels, now my zd racing zmt10 ive been quite happy with since ive fixed the bothersome issues of weak front control arms by custom aluminum arms from a set from vrx. I did crack a wheel but it did withstand alot of hard tumbles before it did, and there are upgrades available for it

Great reviewing. As always, taking the time to be thorough in the details and avoiding the easy path of just slamming the car, which in this case would have been so easy. The thing is, with some luck the ZD folks will stay in business and sort out their product eventually and that will be good for us hobbyists. The thing I love about your channel is being a fellow Aussie you brought up a great point. When you convert the price of these “cheaper trucks” here in Australia ehhh there not really that cheap considering you could buy a traxxas or arrma for not that much more. So many times I’ve gone and looked at a cheaper truck that a channel has suggested and by the time I get it rtr and shipped your still looking at a $600 dollar truck. And let’s not add the fact you have to wait nearly over a month to even get the truck. And sometimes upto 2 months for parts..

You spoke the truth. Once I learned they cannot handle any jumps what so ever, been fine. Put the big truggy tires ZD sells on the Pirates3 and it is one of my funnest flat track racers, I can't believe it handles as well as it does. Cause it shouldn't. Try it for a carnage video. That what makes it so fun. Keep up the honest reviews, good watching.

Couldn’t agree with you more about these type of cars ,parts support,quality,I strongly looked at buying one of these type of Chinese cars I just couldn’t do it.I went with the Arrma outcast 4s instead and couldn’t be happier!
You are spot on. As an American now living and working in Indonesia I could not agree more. I want Arrma Big Rock, Horizon Hobby $319.99, RTR no batt. Funny you just mentioned the battery in the video. I tried from all angles to get a reliable, robust truck that would be the equivalent to the Big Rock. I can't do it, not locally online (prices x2 or x3 USA). China also can't deliver Big Rock equivalent. I was looking at ZD Truggy V3. Well that is $340 usd plus shipping at $60 to Indonesia. I was trying to talk myself into it: "it comes with the battery". This is the funny thing about the "battery" from above. I am new to this, but with 3 cars already, that was fast. Seems to me that if you stay low end you can still get ok deals from China. None of my Chinese cars give me the great hobby feeling, loose tolerances, radios replaced, esc, shocks, bearings because one came with wheel bushings, servos.........All way too soon and with very easy driving on my part. They do run great now, but I treat them with outmost care, parts are a pain to get here. These cars or rolling chassis, like you mentioned, are better for guys that have already a stock pile of old parts. Back to the Big Rock, $319.99. Now I need my friends help to make it look used with some mud for the customs guys and get it shipped here. Again you are spot on, I don't know who can say these things inexpensive. They are on par with brand names. I am not a penny pincher, just want value in products I buy.
I waited 3 weeks for replacement hub carriers. Replaced them. Took the truck out and the turnbuckle broke after first jump. Waited 3 weeks for a new turnbuckle. Fixed the turnbuckle. Took it out and center/front driveshaft broke after driving on flat ground for about 3 mins. Absolutely unacceptable for $265.00 US. Unreal. I'm so glad I have an XMaxx
I have a pirates 2. Running 6s, 2100kv motor. 25kg servo. 15t pinion and 48 spur. Its been jumping bashing and all. No issues. I did change out the diff oils. 20k front and rear, 50k center. and no issues. custom Battery tray.
I was actually shocked to hear the selling price. Omg. That put things into perspective.
Really like all of these trucks can't go wrong with the price and upgraded parts just add powerful batteries with charger it's a win win situation 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
I got the pirates 3 with an upgraded package of hobby wing electronics electronics. It has been very durable for me or for me. More durable than team corrally for less money. Again it doesn't have any of these stock electronics but the chassis is fine. The cheap lexan bodies are what they are but that's easily replaceable. Plus in America you can get it with these upgraded parts for almost half of what I paid for Traxxas Maxx. Which I have found is a great companion for driving the 2 together with the kids.
You've had way more luck than me with yours. Mine fell apart way too easy.
Mine fell apart every drive either drive shafts bending like a coat hanger or the hinge pins or the wheels snapping the body will crack if you cough on it. I do like the shocks though 👍 i learned my lesson and don't buy China specials any more.

First Battery in it was a 7.4 2S.. Still Does Wheelies so Plenty Fast. Bumped a tree.. About half throttle and Wheel went all floppy. Did NOT break... Just stripped the Screws and lost the Spacers holding the Knuckle on.. And just got the Damn thing Sept 10th after ordering it back on July 24th. Not Angry... Just Flustered now. Because now I have to Discharge the Batteries I charged up for it so they don't go Boom.

Mine did the same thing also. My Losi LMT Son of a Digger will be here on Tuesday.
I think if the parts support and aftermarket parts support was there it would be a decent rc

Vas, ive been looking around a little and have found that thundertiger shares diff with these models, especially centers, i believe the biggest issue is it needs better chassis bracing, like the aluminum which come standard on the truggy and buggy
I was originally going to get the Pirates 3 but later decided to instead get a more reliable brand, I came to the conclusion that the best rc truck for me that was in a very similar format to the Pirates 3 was the arrma outcast 4S
Good review-i know youve had the JLB 120a cheetah, how would you rate these against the ZD,s?. Im tossing up between the 2 and a long term comparison would be very helpful! They are about the same price point in the UK. Arrma and Traxxas are way more expensive than any of em! JLB cheetah extreme 120a rtr £300(with 2 4000mah batteries), Arrma kraton 4s roller (Needs all electrics,transmitter etc) £429. The pirates 3 is about £280 so Arrma are at least 2-3 times as expensive as the banggood ones!

I have actually managed to break a proline desperado wheel and I broke a stock wheel on my team magic e5, not as bad as that though lol. Also cracked 2 hpi warlock wheels as well 😂

$495 Pirates3 RTR. You have to buy "on sale", not at the inflated pricing they show in between sales. What can you get brand-name that compares?

1:14th scale rc buggy, 540 size brushed motor does about 50 km/h, metal parts on it fold & wheelnuts tend too unscrew.
It's my Fav little buggy!!! Throw on the Anti-roll bars front and rear from the LC racing EMB-1 and you have an absolute winner... Shock towers are very soft though... solid performer in every way... especially with a 2200mah 50c lipo... yikes.. a lot quicker!!!
@@steveblackbird5174 I bought one on a whim and I love it. Even on the brushed 540 motor it is really on the edge if you try to go too hard. I have the parts to go to brushless with it but I am going to wait until it slows down on the 540. I can see it needing ground effects to keep it from being just too fast on brushless. Bought a Dumborc 6 channel radio so I can use the on board gyro to calm it down some.
Good Work Ron, It's an Epic little car!! I have a few of these little budget things but the 144001 is a huge fave!! The Dumbo RC radio's are an absolute winner... think every RC'er needs at least one of these in their kit. perfect radio... I have the Mt8 Pirates 3. Its a good cheap RC Truck in my opinion. Not for Hardcore basher. It will be broke, trust me :)

Well Finally got Mine. Ordered back on July 24th and Received Sept 10th. Halfway through it's First 7.4 Volt (will Still Pull Wheelies) BUMPED a Tree. Left Front Wheel went all Floppy. The Screws and Spacers holding the Knuckle on Stripped out. Did Not Break anything.
It Does NOT Like Nihm or mine where just too shitty. Tried 3 Fully Charged. 6800mAh each C Rating??? A lasted 2 minutes, B lasted 3 Minutes, C 0 Minutes.
Chinese RCs were reasonable and cheap now they are still reasonable but expensive. Not worth it anymore.
I agree unless they're 30%-50% than the average descent RC brands they shouldn't be touched. We buy from China because they're cheaper and not competitive in price
So for $180 US dollars and I already have electronics laying around is it worthwhile?
In the UK the pirate 3 is just under £300. Let that sink in! and that is before customs charges.

U need to do a review on that raptor-e 1/8 scale truck. In bang goods.. its almost like exceed madbeast brushless truck. Wonder if its same truck because it's hard to find. Parts for my exceed madbeast brushless truck.. only nitro rc is only place I could find for parts. But if that bang goods truck I saw raptor-e brushless truck I could buy that one either run it and us my old truck for parts or us raptor-e for parts for my exceed.. but maybe u can do a review on that truck see if it's worth it

Vas, Great review these trucks are pretty good for the price. However as you point out what your dealing with in your country is crazy pricing and I'm afraid Banggood has figured this out and is flat out ripping you and your fellow Australians off. I purchased the RTR 1/8 scale Pirates 2 from Banggood 2 years ago the RTR for LESS than 250.00 delivered, here in the USA. Right now that same truck with FREE shipping here in the USA is 278.09. So compared to an ARRMA that would be it's equal "brushless and 1/8" scale. Here in the USA that ARRMA is $560.00 so the ZD Racing almost half the cost. At the current exchange rate The Pirates 2 RTR complete with electronics and everything should be $424.28 in Australia. so no motor, no servo, no radio, no esc, no receiver, and they only take off $37.34! Like I said they are ripping Australian consumers off unfortunately. I still think they are great trucks when you get them for what they are really worth. So if they were priced right they would still be 200.00 or thereabouts less in your country than a name brand competitor like an ARRMA.

As a 1/8 scale rc at a 600 700 dollar range its a not so known brand with a blown out price tag that should be as solid as the high price...
Even hsp would be a better choice than the zd racing pirate. .. and part support is online and local. To a point..
The pirates 2 truck like you have to build is 196 in usa dollars from bang goods but that was on a % on a sale but 205 dollar in usa without a sale. Just let u know the difference

i don't have a dog in this fight, but comparing the quality based on the cost in your locale doesn't make sense - comparing the quality based on the cost relative to equivalent vehicles in your locale (or, even better, based on the average relative cost over several of the most popular locales) is more of a fair assessment - again, no dog in the fight, but a cheaply (or well) made vehicle that is very expensive where you live because of the cost of shipping/importation doesn't mean you can overlook shoddy engineering/materials

Where in the world are you? Here in the states, the kaiju is a good value and readily available. Just watch some heads up/reviews. You can get a kit, from what I've seen the corally stuff is ok if you're not gonna bash hard. Losi 3xle are still available. Serpent mt is good once you switch to smaller wheels. Again these are cars that are available here in the United States, not knowing where you're from. Or you can always go used.

My kraton 6s would've broken. (the Mojave is 200€ more expensive than the Kraton V3 I have here in the EU)
Its funny that your closer to china than USA is. And seems like its reverse in prices here in usa. The arrma is very expensive and traxxas is expensive. But the zd racing trucks u have seem sell almost same to usa dollars but seems cheaper than u guys over there. Seems like where u live its should be 250 bucks in your dollars for them. Because where u guys actually live closer to china than us over here in the USA. I wish I lived over that area. Bet it's very beautiful over there.

Hell, I won't pay more than $150 USD for this thing. The WLToys 144001 for example is good value at under $100 USD considering it's RTR and parts are cheap.
@@shadow7037932 That's the best Wltoys to date they've relay upped their game. But even most other Wltoys RCS are way better than the ZD racing crap
@@shadow7037932 The problem is parts, i learned that the hard way. If something breaks, be prepared to wait 2-3 months for new parts to arrive. IF they arrive. I have their 959B and parts i've ordered in January still haven't arrived.... including a new set of diff gears. I bought 2 used traxxas mini e-revo's (brushless) and replacement parts come in 3-5 days.
These aren't cheap...It'll be over 300USD before you get them here in the USA.
Which is pretty much entry level, hobby grade RC.. or at my local shop pony up 399.99 + Tax and you have a Outcast 4S.

The TheRcSaylors broke the same wheel ( P3). They Do look Fragile compared to the rest of the truck. I take you don't watch Kevin Talbot. He Purposely Beats the Hell out of these and Launches them off Skate Ramps at full speed.
I don't understand where people here in the u.s. are saying they're cheap so what do you expect. Last time I checked they were around 350 for the pirates 3. That's not cheap for what you get. The dhk cars are around the same price or cheaper during normal conditions. For a few bucks more at that point you can get a kaiju or get the 3s arrma lineup or go up and get a 4s arrma. I would say cheap if they were under 200 for the steaming piles of 💩 that they are.

If you're going to drive them, don't drive them at all, just use your imagination for driving and jumping, then nothing can break.

No, they aren't. Stay away from them. They messed me around on my Pirates 3 on shipping time. Took two months to USA and i still hadn't gotten it. I raised hell with them and they told me to wait another 53 days and by that time I was outside the ability for AM-EX to do anything about it.I just wrote the $200 dollars off as a hard lesson learned and I no longer deal with them.

@@AussieRCPlayground The Hyper MT is a garbage, first the 2 differentials literally exploded, an a-arm break and one drive cup break in half after a small crash into a sidewalk, 3 driveshafts just shred, even the wheel hex screw broke in three piece and I broke about three of them! Stock servo gave out 3 times I wanted to keep it stock but no way, I have to upgrage the servo anyways, the stock body is like polystyrene, I have the front wheels that starts to crack and I also get the spur and pinion gear stripped, and the screws stripped so easy! I probably forget some other issues, speaking to performance is way too understeered and is kinda hard to work on. Is like made to be the WORST truck ever! To be honest I didn't abuse it at all, very dissappointing truck I never own a rig like this one! I still keep it tho but I will stick to 4s.

From my experience of ZD RACING Its hit and miss and its more miss ! Spend a little more buy Arrma or Team Corally!

ETAI106 a roller is a car with everything except motor and esc.
Like Sean Vartell said that's what a Roller/Rolling chassis is. In the past it used to be a complete car with NO body. That's what coach builders would complete (Yes thats where the handbag company used to do back in the day). So it would have everything but interior and body on top.
As time as gone on when someone is advertising a rolling chassis, its usually a vehicle that has everything BUT the drivetrain and at times electronics.

I can’t say the same for Arrma Servo. I have had 5 or 6 Arrma servo and they all crapped out within days of being new.
Always having electronics issues. What ever that’s all about. Chinese manufacturing sucks ass. Why does Arrma even waste a bunch of cash and time on Chinese manufacturing.

Zd broken they brake by just looking at them all the new parts you buy are even worse quality than the original parts then all the nuts bolts and screws are made of such soft metal they will round or snap so you have to drill them out they are horrendous to work on the smallest easiest jobs turn in to full blown projects cause everything else breaks when you are stripping it down to fix the original part that broke steer well clear of anything Zd broken "disappointing kids and hobbyists alike"
