    For a guy who doesn't claim to be a professional woodworker and making camp kitchens you did a really good job!! I like the design I'm gonna see if I can get the hubby to make me one. Thanks for the video.

    spar is uv protection! from experience's: lightly sand and add several coats. be sure to coat the edges. great job. the old plans are made for boys to lean woodworking. only recommendation is to add lighting...led battery lights.

      Super Dave Thanks man! Best part, she’s still putting in work. She’s been on a week long trip from Texas to the Grand Canyon, and on two week long trips from Texas to Colorado. Who knows how many times I’ve taken it on day and weekend trips.

    Here are the plans I based the build on. I simply made it larger and used more robust materials. It's heavier, but much more sturdy.

    Please , please, what size is the box and what kind of wood did you use?

      Apologies for the delay. The box measures 19" high X 19" deep X 32" wide. I used 5/8" thick pine plywood, with some 1" X 1" square dowels for supporting the shelves at the joints. The legs are made of treated pine 2X4s, and the capture points on the sides for the legs are made of pine 2X6s. When finishing, I simply stained the color I wanted and, once the stain had dried fully, I applied a couple of coats of Helmsman spar urethane. I hope this helps.

    Do the legs fold up?

      No. They slide out of the pockets on the sides of the box.

    Hey Scotty i am viewing your chuck box and think its really cool and I saw down below you answered a subscriber about the plans but I can't see them in your reply to him. So I was curious do you actually have the plans for the box and can share them. I can include my email if need be or you can reply here which ever you think is best but it really looks functional and one I really like and I have seen plenty. Thanks!

      www.troop142bsa.org/sketchbook/Kitchen%20Box%20.pdf is what he based it on. Found them a few comments below. He also says his modification here, "The box measures 19" high X 19" deep X 32" wide. I used 5/8" thick pine plywood, with some 1" X 1" square dowels for supporting the shelves at the joints. The legs are made of treated pine 2X4s, and the capture points on the sides for the legs are made of pine 2X6s. will that lage cast iron griddle fit on that coleman stove

    • @scottym.9077
      @scottym.9077  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Union_Yagow Yes. The Coleman model 424 stove has two burners under a grill surface of about 20" X 13". The Lodge brand griddle I use is the Double Play. It's dimensions are about 16.5" X 9". This combination is great for cooking pancakes and eggs on the flat side, or grilling meats on the ridged side. For bacon, I would recommend a skillet. Grease run off becomes an issue with the griddle.
