Beautiful! I get excited finding TH-camrs from houston. Is there a plant that you recommend that does well with morning sun and afternoon shade that blooms all summer?

Hi! I’m so glad you found me! Thanks for watching! Gosh, I’m not great with continuously flowering shrubs! I grow so many herbaceous plants that die to the ground in winter, then pop up in the spring! I’m literally looking out my window and realizing all my flowering shrubs are roses! 🤣 I guess it would depend on how much sun you get in the morning. 2 hours? 6? If you’ve got six, I’d think about a rose, maybe from the Antique Rose Emporium (in person- they’re in Brenham, or online). Since they are based in Brenham, they have many tough roses that do well in Houston. The most reliable, long-blooming rose bush I have is called “Nearly Wild”. Another thought is Turk’s Cap- I think you can trim it small or maybe they have dwarf varieties. It’s kinda shrubby! lol. Grows and blooms in full sun or full shade. Native Texas. It’s kindof a unicorn. 🦄 🤣

I have had some luck eliminating spider mites using homeopathic Chrysoperla Carnea (green lacewing larva which is one of their predators). I am in Houston and would be glad to share some with you if the pests return or move to other plants.

I’ve noticed since the humidity levels have increased the spider mite population has decreased so maybe if you cut that down it’ll be ok. Also, I had no Idea coral honeysuckle was a butterfly host plant!

I was so excited to find that out too! From the net: The Spring Azure butterfly and the Snowberry Clearwing moth are larval hosts of the coral honeysuckle plant's leaves. The Snowberry Clearwing is also known as the Hummingbird Moth.
Glad to have encouragement about cutting those down! 🤞

It’s in about 4-5 hours of afternoon sun. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger, but still no flowers!

I've heard dahlias pronounced "doll yez". I wouldn't worry about saying things wrong. I just thought you guys pronounced it different in the south.

      LOL
I was laughing this week because I’m trying to remember how *I* said it in past videos. Like, what did I call it two years ago?? Who knows? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
