Hi Al, I’ve just seen this video and I can empathise with your feelings, but just look at all the support you have my friend, not many would have this kind of response. You are truly liked in this wonderful hobby of ours but I do understand that it only takes a few negative comments to ask yourself “is this shit worth it”. I, and many others have gone through this and questioned should I carry on on. And the answer is yes, take a break if you wish or do whatever it takes to make you feel better about it. TH-cam is not what it’s all about, enjoying this wonderful hobby of ours is what it’s all about. Personally, I’m now in the stage of not giving a f**k of what people say or do as regards my channel but there are times when something has happened in my life which has made me feel down like the deaths of three close family members, then on top of that, I try and get some solace by making a video and then a couple of negative comments come in which just takes me over the edge and I end up having a rant - purely because the way I’m feeling at the time but of course, no one knows that at the time when they post a negative comment. I know that so now I just let those comments go over my head and try not to let them effect me or my life. There will always be arseholes out there trying to show off by telling you how you should be doing something - again - I now ignore them, I delete the comment and block them, their loss, not mine. Someone commented saying why am I so “aggy” (aggressive), is it any wonder?. So do what you have to do mate but please don’t close your channel down, that’s the worst thing to do because you will end up regretting it. Take a deep breath, walk away for a while should you need to and come back again with even more vigour and start enjoying the hobby and YT again but bare in mind that those same arseholes will still be there giving you shit - the same as they do with me and many other TH-camrs out there - it’s how you handle them in you mind that is the important thing. Chin up buddy and let’s see more of your smiley face and seeing you enjoying what you love doing - your model railway! ❤️❤️. Cheers. ………Graham

@@dragon-junction-MK2 Hi Al and I’m looking at Anthony’s video now, as you can see from what he is saying, it’s a very common problem and something we should all be aware of, I know it’s difficult my friend to ‘just ignore’ them but that’s what you have to do and not take things to heart which was what I was doing - and falling straight into their traps. Any and I mean any, disparaging comments I get I just delete them and block them, but some I pin to the top which everyone will see and think what utter arseholes they really are - it’s like naming and shaming them without actually doing it, it gives me great satisfaction and to be honest, I don’t normally hear from them again. 👍🏻. Those new(er) mk3s really are something else aren't they. I've been playing about with those 'close' couplings on my Maunsells and Bulleids. As to the trolls and gatekeepers, there's been much discussion recently, not just with Iron Horse and his Ranting Cap (great idea btw) but also on Jenny Kirk's Monday Club where they've been dubbed the Fun Police especially in a recent discussion about certain types of people in model railway clubs. And Clickbaiters too. They're another one. It can be difficult not to let it get to you though.
Ignore the tossers Al, your railway should look how you want it to look, not how anyone tells you it should look! I really enjoy watching you, great to find modellers on the same wavelength as myself. Keep your head up and don't let the plonkers get to you

Hi Mate, I am from Sydney and i love watching your videos. It was guys like yourself and the other UK guys who made me change my mind and start collecting British locos and rolling stock. We call the nitpickers here" rivet counters". They have a need to judge anything thats not perfect. My home layout is not perfect, and when i go to rail exhibitions, i see the great work done by some modellers and I know that i try to be as good but I fall short of their levels. I dont care, I love the "HOBBY", thats what it is, its not a job. The videos that guys like you do, are informative and everytime i watch a video, I learn something, see something, and this is what gives me enthusiasm to stay in the hobby. Sometimes when I get low due to railway modellers comments, I think back to my child hood when I had my very first Lima 26 class with the blood and custard coaches and I think how happy i was to run my train around the track on the floor, this brings me back to just having a model train is fun, the rest of the layout and how we set up consists thats a bonus. Keep making videos, from what i see, guys like me love your delivery, its fun, its informative. I look forward to your videos. Regards Ken

Hi Al, I'm very sorry to hear those who wish harm in our hobby and fun stoppers have been getting you down mate. Was starting to wonder where you were these past weeks. 🤔 I have, as have many been going through a similar soul searching as to whether it's all worth the work these days due to the rivet counters. People had a little pop at me about the gaps in my coaches. I bought sets of paper bellows to close the gaps in most cases. Love the new hst coach set. Got a full set myself after buying two sets of the GWR and BR blue and grey to achieve sets. Out of my era but still love running them now and then. At the end if the day it is your hard work that has built Dragon Junction, and your hard earned money that pays for it. Keep doing what you are doing, I am sure there are a lot more people that enjoy your videos than leave comments to say so. 6,100 views and only 468 likes. I am sure there are not 5,000 that think that your work needs improvement like the "the Rivet Counters". I don't see any of them putting videos on TH-cam of their work. Hi Al, it's your model railway you have spent hundreds of hours and money onniy. Rule one, do what you want. It's not easy to ignore them the only thing I would suggest is to remove the comments and ban them. Do what you want todo. If you do ho then they havenwon. So what if your coaches have gaps in between them. Both you and Harold Road have got me back into railway modelling. It's currently on the back foot as my mum died a few months ago, and I am.busy settling into a new flat. But I enjoy your laughs and videos. What I would suggest is getting a dehumidifier for the shed. Sorry to hear you are having problems.keep up the good work.

Hey Al Like others have said. Try to ignore all the people putting your model railway down. It’s an epic layout! You should be proud with what you’ve done. Rule 1 always applies. You’re railway, your rules! Looks like you have had an excellent purchase with those coaches. The GWR sets are one of my favourite looking ones. Hello, m'lord. Well said and understood. I have actually been making a video on this topic, but it gets so long. I will say in the video what I would write here. Wonderful coaches... GWR 800s and 43HSTs were the first UK trains I eyed that I thought were very cool and got me watching more UK channels. (I don't FF, either.. 😁😁😁) You take care of you and enjoy your hobby as you can. If YT trolls get too much... just avoid the bridge for awhile. Great to see you back. I can understand the feelings ,or lack of, because of a few idiots. You are a genuinely good human and they are jealous of it. When your emotions overwhelm you ,because it's hard to understand their lack of human feelings try saying ," I'm not letting them ring me down with their silly mess. I've been In a bit of down myself and you are correct, " a bit of retail therapy" sometimes works. In my case I found a hat in the proper colors for my modeled railroad did it. It took me years to find and buying and wearing it has lifted my spirits quite a bit. So as you say , you are not alone and you are stronger than they are.

Hi Alan, I follow a lot of You Tubers like yourself that take the time and effort to put out content that both shines a light on their world whilst at the same time sharing their skills and vision. Whilst like many I returned to the modelling hobby during ‘lock down’ it was people like yourself that were the catalyst for my own and many other peoples return. I would say of late that a high percentage of those I follow have at some point and are experiencing the very situation you yourself are currently experiencing. The gate keepers and Trolls (most people know their profiles) have nothing about them, and less to offer, they are people that other than their unnecessary and unhelpful comments would go through life totally un noticed….. Don’t let these insignificant individuals get to you as it is this very thing that gives them that ‘little flick’. I don’t have a railway layout myself but look forward to people like yourself sharing your displays, experiences and models….the skills on display both in imagination and modelling are in my opinion brilliant and I look forward to each and every episode. Hello from Belgium originally from Kent myself, I must say the GWR are a cracking colour either on the Class 43 or the Class 800. I have nearly 15 years collecting of Hornby boxed up so I'm envious your layout as I am to do late 90's through to early 2010's +/-. Fingers crossed our Roof gets done this Autumn so I can get up and running finally. I hope to film some for TH-cam but will beware of comments as I'm a Noob on the layout side.

There are lots of nasty sad individuals who just focus on ignorant or aggressive responses. Basically, cowards. I assume that gate keepers are the rivet counting brigade. I would not give them time of day. I can understand how it makes you feel. That said from watching your videos and the overwhelming positive feedback that you get, i would say that your creativity, modelling and video making/presentation is excellent and gives joy to many people. Hope you stick with it. Thank you for all your work.

But at the same time you learn more each time so you rebuild and get better as you go. even the top players change there layouts for the better Everard Junction has done it a few times and he`s the top player on youtube UK wise. even Charlie has changed his a few times because he knows he could do better . Hi Al. I'm so sorry to have been subjected to what can only called abuse. It's a shame that the trolls are not named and shamed. It would be such a great loss to the modelling community if you were to have chucked it all in! What a shame that Rapido are so far away and not on your doorstep - you could have knocked on their front door. Had it not been for all those blown decoders and motors, I would have agreed with your comment that it was just one of those things. I hope that Rapido stand up to be counted. Don't worry too much, you'll get your mojo back eventually. I believe you have more supporters than those idiots! Lovely rake of coaches, what a great deal - I too love retail therapy. Great video & a Fabulous layout with a lot going on, I sometimes take Great inspiration from watching my earlier version of the hornby HST in virgin livery running around with a mixed rake of early hornby mk3s in both virgin and midland mainline livery it just puts a little interest and extra fun to things .many thanks 😊
Sorry to hear that trolls have dampened your enthusiasm. Also sad that people don’t seem to have the manners to say thank you for help. I don’t run a TH-cam channel but always make sure I add a thank you to any Facebook post I make asking for advice. Ignore them all and focus on what you want to do and the people that appreciate it.

Hi Al, I’ve just seen this video and I can empathise with your feelings, but just look at all the support you have my friend, not many would have this kind of response. You are truly liked in this wonderful hobby of ours but I do understand that it only takes a few negative comments to ask yourself “is this shit worth it”. I, and many others have gone through this and questioned should I carry on on. And the answer is yes, take a break if you wish or do whatever it takes to make you feel better about it.
TH-cam is not what it’s all about, enjoying this wonderful hobby of ours is what it’s all about. Personally, I’m now in the stage of not giving a f**k of what people say or do as regards my channel but there are times when something has happened in my life which has made me feel down like the deaths of three close family members, then on top of that, I try and get some solace by making a video and then a couple of negative comments come in which just takes me over the edge and I end up having a rant - purely because the way I’m feeling at the time but of course, no one knows that at the time when they post a negative comment.
I know that so now I just let those comments go over my head and try not to let them effect me or my life. There will always be arseholes out there trying to show off by telling you how you should be doing something - again - I now ignore them, I delete the comment and block them, their loss, not mine. Someone commented saying why am I so “aggy” (aggressive), is it any wonder?.
So do what you have to do mate but please don’t close your channel down, that’s the worst thing to do because you will end up regretting it. Take a deep breath, walk away for a while should you need to and come back again with even more vigour and start enjoying the hobby and YT again but bare in mind that those same arseholes will still be there giving you shit - the same as they do with me and many other TH-camrs out there - it’s how you handle them in you mind that is the important thing.

@@dragon-junction-MK2 Hi Al and I’m looking at Anthony’s video now, as you can see from what he is saying, it’s a very common problem and something we should all be aware of, I know it’s difficult my friend to ‘just ignore’ them but that’s what you have to do and not take things to heart which was what I was doing - and falling straight into their traps. Any and I mean any, disparaging comments I get I just delete them and block them, but some I pin to the top which everyone will see and think what utter arseholes they really are - it’s like naming and shaming them without actually doing it, it gives me great satisfaction and to be honest, I don’t normally hear from them again. 👍🏻. Those new(er) mk3s really are something else aren't they. I've been playing about with those 'close' couplings on my Maunsells and Bulleids.
As to the trolls and gatekeepers, there's been much discussion recently, not just with Iron Horse and his Ranting Cap (great idea btw) but also on Jenny Kirk's Monday Club where they've been dubbed the Fun Police especially in a recent discussion about certain types of people in model railway clubs. And Clickbaiters too. They're another one.
It can be difficult not to let it get to you though.
Ignore the tossers Al, your railway should look how you want it to look, not how anyone tells you it should look! I really enjoy watching you, great to find modellers on the same wavelength as myself. Keep your head up and don't let the plonkers get to you

Hi Mate, I am from Sydney and i love watching your videos. It was guys like yourself and the other UK guys who made me change my mind and start collecting British locos and rolling stock. We call the nitpickers here" rivet counters". They have a need to judge anything thats not perfect. My home layout is not perfect, and when i go to rail exhibitions, i see the great work done by some modellers and I know that i try to be as good but I fall short of their levels. I dont care, I love the "HOBBY", thats what it is, its not a job. The videos that guys like you do, are informative and everytime i watch a video, I learn something, see something, and this is what gives me enthusiasm to stay in the hobby. Sometimes when I get low due to railway modellers comments, I think back to my child hood when I had my very first Lima 26 class with the blood and custard coaches and I think how happy i was to run my train around the track on the floor, this brings me back to just having a model train is fun, the rest of the layout and how we set up consists thats a bonus. Keep making videos, from what i see, guys like me love your delivery, its fun, its informative. I look forward to your videos. Regards Ken

Hi Al, I'm very sorry to hear those who wish harm in our hobby and fun stoppers have been getting you down mate. Was starting to wonder where you were these past weeks. 🤔 I have, as have many been going through a similar soul searching as to whether it's all worth the work these days due to the rivet counters. People had a little pop at me about the gaps in my coaches. I bought sets of paper bellows to close the gaps in most cases. Love the new hst coach set. Got a full set myself after buying two sets of the GWR and BR blue and grey to achieve sets. Out of my era but still love running them now and then. Hi Al, it's your model railway you have spent hundreds of hours and money onniy. Rule one, do what you want. It's not easy to ignore them the only thing I would suggest is to remove the comments and ban them. Do what you want todo. If you do ho then they havenwon. So what if your coaches have gaps in between them. Both you and Harold Road have got me back into railway modelling. It's currently on the back foot as my mum died a few months ago, and I am.busy settling into a new flat. But I enjoy your laughs and videos. What I would suggest is getting a dehumidifier for the shed. Sorry to hear you are having problems.keep up the good work.

Looks like you have had an excellent purchase with those coaches. The GWR sets are one of my favourite looking ones. I’d deffo have them, but wouldn’t fit in with my heritage railway 😂.

GWR 800s and 43HSTs were the first UK trains I eyed that I thought were very cool and got me watching more UK channels. (I don't FF, either.. 😁😁😁) You take care of you and enjoy your hobby as you can. If YT trolls get too much... just avoid the bridge for awhile. Great to see you back. I can understand the feelings ,or lack of, because of a few idiots. You are a genuinely good human and they are jealous of it. When your emotions overwhelm you ,because it's hard to understand their lack of human feelings try saying ," I'm not letting them ring me down with their silly mess.
I've been In a bit of down myself and you are correct, " a bit of retail therapy" sometimes works.
In my case I found a hat in the proper colors for my modeled railroad did it. It took me years to find and buying and wearing it has lifted my spirits quite a bit. So as you say , you are not alone and you are stronger than they are.

Hi Alan, I follow a lot of You Tubers like yourself that take the time and effort to put out content that both shines a light on their world whilst at the same time sharing their skills and vision.
Whilst like many I returned to the modelling hobby during ‘lock down’ it was people like yourself that were the catalyst for my own and many other peoples return.
I would say of late that a high percentage of those I follow have at some point and are experiencing the very situation you yourself are currently experiencing.
The gate keepers and Trolls (most people know their profiles) have nothing about them, and less to offer, they are people that other than their unnecessary and unhelpful comments would go through life totally un noticed…..
Don’t let these insignificant individuals get to you as it is this very thing that gives them that ‘little flick’.
I don’t have a railway layout myself but look forward to people like yourself sharing your displays, experiences and models….the skills on display both in imagination and modelling are in my opinion brilliant and I look forward to each and every episode.
Don’t let the ‘Wetters’ grind you down they are not worth it and when you look at the bigger picture they are totally irrelevant.

Hello from Belgium originally from Kent myself, I must say the GWR are a cracking colour either on the Class 43 or the Class 800. I have nearly 15 years collecting of Hornby boxed up so I'm envious your layout as I am to do late 90's through to early 2010's +/-. Fingers crossed our Roof gets done this Autumn so I can get up and running finally. I hope to film some for TH-cam but will beware of comments as I'm a Noob on the layout side.

There are lots of nasty sad individuals who just focus on ignorant or aggressive responses. Basically, cowards. I assume that gate keepers are the rivet counting brigade. I would not give them time of day. I can understand how it makes you feel. That said from watching your videos and the overwhelming positive feedback that you get, i would say that your creativity, modelling and video making/presentation is excellent and gives joy to many people. But at the same time you learn more each time so you rebuild and get better as you go. even the top players change there layouts for the better Everard Junction has done it a few times and he`s the top player on youtube UK wise. even Charlie has changed his a few times because he knows he could do better .
Like what you said it`s what we have and enjoying the fun along the way .

It would be such a great loss to the modelling community if you were to have chucked it all in! What a shame that Rapido are so far away and not on your doorstep - you could have knocked on their front door. Had it not been for all those blown decoders and motors, I would have agreed with your comment that it was just one of those things. I hope that Rapido stand up to be counted. Don't worry too much, you'll get your mojo back eventually. I believe you have more supporters than those idiots! Lovely rake of coaches, what a great deal - I too love retail therapy. Personally, I rather like the trailing wires from the pylon.

Hiya Kevin .. I did not set out to do this film like this but it effected more than i thought. But at the same time needed to be said.
And the response i have had is absolutely mind blowing Kevin .i never give it a though i would get this much feed back and the amount of Support has truly blown me away .
I will do a better film on the coaches very soon so you can get a better look at them . They sure are lovely to look at .

Hi Al OMG I'm so upset to hear this. I don't get to watch TH-cam as much as I would like so I've missed all this going on. I've read the comments below and can't add anything but just want to send you my support and best wishes. TH-cam can be a very hard master made hard by some pillocks who need to mind their own business and stop hassling folk. You do what you want mate, it's always good to see how you are doing.
