Hiya Kev ..Thank you so much for the lovely comments and yes i have Covid 4 times now and we are all fit and well again at last . took about 7 weeks to get well again. Any way i am going to be very busy with the new upgrades just a couple parts left to get so hopefully some time this week and then am ready to go after Christmas. i will do my best to film most of it for you guys and have a laugh along the way .bound to be a few cocks ups..lol.. so on that note a Very Merry Christmas to you Kev and family..
I think we all need to stand back and have a rest when the safety valves blow. I have 5 projects on the go and I do not know which to do first . I hope all the family are well soon, Merry Christmas to you all. Martin. (Thailand)
We are all 100% again Martin ..Thank you for watching. .As for your projects one at a time Martin. So a very Merry Christmas Martin. Have a good one see you in the new year.
The wife and I were wondering what happen to you. Now we know. I glad your family is over Covid and you feel like you are ready to take on the challenges at Dragon Junction. Looking forward to your "tippy tappys". Lady Barbara knows what Lord Al wants. Bill & Janet from California.
Nice to see you “Back on the Rails”, I like Charlie’s content and always find him inspiring, and you never have far to look for a New Project - I’m a relative Newbie to Railway modelling (Late developer), and it’s so much more than Just Trains, very beneficial in keeping the Grey Matter firing on all Cylinders, also our motor skills and Dexterity, especially when it comes to lamps from WHWW 😊. Oh yes nearly back to normal..lol..we are all fit and well now . so next year big project and some fun along the way for sure.. Thank you so much for your comments and you and the family have a lovely Christmas Paul.
Hi Al and good to see you back again my friend, I wondered where you had got to - now I know. Fortunately for us, we have never had Covid but you and your family seem to have had your fair share! The humidity of 90% is horrendous and I don’t understand why it’s so high, you would think that the walls would be running with condensation but they’re not, it all looks perfectly dry so I guess the moisture is just in the air, I don’t know but 90% is pretty scary! Anyway, it’s all looking good my friend and a great running session too with some great ideas for the future too. I watched Charlie’s video too and thought it was a really helpful video for me and all railway modellers, both new and old hands, we can all learn something everyday. Have a great Christmas and a brilliant New Year to you and your family. 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Thank you so much Graham for watching and your lovely comment. We are all fine again all back up to speed . More of the Covid we have had we seem to think it comes from the grandson picking up at school He`s 13 now. But who knows ..lol. So you have a lovely Christmas Lord Graham..lol.. regards Lord Al of the shed..
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year my Lord. Get well soon you guys. Thank you for all your videos this year and especially your cheerful personally. You are a breath of fresh air, keep up the good work.
Hi Al - Glad you’re back and I’m looking forward to the new project starting. Have a great Christmas and best wishes to you and the family for 2024 Cheers Kev
Thank you so much Kevin ..The family and i are all good again thank you . And yes it`s going to be a great project to do.. Very Merry Christmas Kevin and family
Hi Alan notice in your closing film that the forth 27t wagon has got a stuck wheel , might need some attention ,great video by the way can’t wait to see the bridge mod .
Great to see you back again Lord Al. It was lovely to meet you at GETS, a real pleasure. Sorry you’ve been unwell since. I’ve read all the comments and it seems COVID isn’t going anywhere soon. A great shame but at least we’ve got the vaccines to keep it down. Loved the video, I was also inspired by Charlie’s video and have started a new project as a result. Have a great Christmas and I look forward to watching your progress next year. Roy.
Hi lord Al nice to see you back, now you've inspired me to get off my bum and make a film 👍 now the hot humidity 💧cold humidity ❄️ lol. Just a tip that I was given especially if you renew the boards, get marine ply. Now then between you and donegal Mark I can't stop laughing. He said can you flock a polar bear, to which I said yes as long as its asleep, and then you came on and said I know what you're like you'll want to know how long it is, well I was in stitches at that. Anyway its not that you've lost interest its because you've been ill. I've not been well since September on and off and concentrating on modelling is hard as much as I've wanted to do things. I have done some stuff, I just took over the dining room table. Anyway glad you're back and modelling again cheers Andy
Am sure you will make a great come back on the Tube.Just wait and see what the big man in a red coat does for you . you will up and running trains before you know it . so pleased we put a smile on your face . it makes us happy as well. Have a very Merry Christmas Andy along with the family.. have fun.
Hi Alan, glad you and the family are on the road to recovery and you’re back in the shed. Really looking forward to the new bridge project and how it all turns out. Great to finally meet you at GETS this year, Happy Christmas to you and all the family from all of us here at Exehaven, cheers Allan, John
Thank you so much John it was great to meet you as well for me. The family and i are all well again and fit ready for Christmas .lol.. i think you will like the bridges and it wont be long now to see them. so on that note You and the family have a lovely Christmas John. Merry Christmas from Lord Al in the shed..
Merry Christmas Al, all the best to you and yours. Great idea with sponges to stop draughts, clever. Nice wee running sesh too. Take care. Brian @ The Angels
Hope you are fully recovered now. Regarding the humidity, as far as I know, the hotter air is the more moisture it can hold. As the temperature drops the relative humidity rises as the air can't hold as much moisture. Every time you go in the shed and raise the temperature with the heater you raise the amount of moisture the air an take on board. As you breath you introduce more moisture into the air. When you leave and turn off the heater the temperature drops but the moisture amount of moisture in air remains the same but the air's capacity deminishes. Hence the %goes up. That is my understanding of how it works, but I am no physicist so I may have misunderstood parts of that. As far as I know air flow is actually good for a shed, as you could introduce damp or rotting of the timbers without it. Have you looked at a self contained heat recovery vent. It would help exchange moist air inside with dryer air outside and not loose too much heat. I think they quote 80-90% heat recovery. I think they are around £200 last time i looked. Less than the price of a big dcc sound loco thees days. Just my thoughts. Worth doing your own research on the subject.
Thank you so much for your comments and i do understand what your saying . At least i have not any issues about it over the years . Like you said in the long term it helps the shed in a way . other wise it would dry out to much..But at the same time Timber sheds don't last for ever. it`s been here 10 years now.. So thank you for watching and Merry Christmas.
Al, your body knows what to do for the best... it switches off and you just have to go with it. Now... enjoy your Christmas, find a suitable tipple and gently embalm yourself... CHEERS atb, Andy.
Although not quite my cup of tea for a tank engine, I was pleasantly surprised at the beginning. I'm hoping to see your version of a steam-hauled Santa Special train before Christmas. Don't worry about what's happening to the railway. I don't want to see you exhaust yourself by trying to improve all the time. Sometimes, you get great results, other times you accidentally make the situation worse. I know how much you love improving on your railway, but I love it the way it is. If it were mine, I wouldn't change or improve anything at all. Just like I love you for who you are on the inside, a cheesy gentleman who loves playing with trains like the rest of us. Please don't ruin your own efforts, you've done a wonderful job already. Merry Christmas to you and your whole family, human and model steamy. Next year, come November, my friend Ryan Ball is hoping to take me to Warley, I so want to go there. Is it possible you might go? I'd like to meet you in the flesh.
Now i would love to meet you Kelly where and when is the big thing .May be at warley but we know that for a long time yet. I must thank you for the wonderful comments Kelly you touched my heart . Thank you. I love updating my layout Kelly it keeps it fresh and interesting but not costing me lot`s of money . trust me on that one.i have a wife say know more..lol.lol.. Am sure there will be plenty of Santa trains to watch over the next few weeks on youtube .Just enjoy the fun Kelly. So on that note Kelly a Very big Merry Christmas to you and your family Kelly.. Regards Lord in the shed.
well it seems all good up to now after 9 years in the shed . i have lots of damage from heat in the summers. but no worries it`s all sent to try us.. Merry Christmas.
Hi Lord Al. Glad you are feeling better. It's good to have you back on the screen 👍🏻 Hope you and the family are over the worst now. All the best Steve
Yes Steve all good this end at last took 7 weeks for all of us to be 100% well again .. thank you so much for watching and a Very Merry Christmas Steve and and family.
Get yourself a dehumidifier and leave on auto all the time just seal the door gaps and window first. Also marine ply board for the boards could help possible i'd say used car doorcard glue, but it needs a think beed so shim same areas to account for it, then the boards can float and not bow.
Good morning Al, we were on a cruise from Istanbul to Rio just over a year ago. We wore masks everywhere around the ship but we were four of the few who did. There were approx 4000 passengers and over the 24 days many were coughing and spluttering. My wife came down with Covid first and was in bed for about 4 days. next our friend was felled for a week. I got it for about three days and it was fairly mild. My buddy escaped completely. Interestingly we were all vaxxed up with the latest booster. We really need to look after ourselves and Covid is difficult to avoid. My layout is in the basement and it is heated and cooled and have not experienced a problem with humidity but maybe I will check that. Stay safe👍
Pleased to know you are all well again as we are in the uk . This is the 4 th time i have had it and each time it`s different .effects you in so many ways . As for the Humidity it does not seem to effect any think but that`s not the point .it`s the long term thing am thinking but each day is different . So Charlie you have a lovely Christmas with family . Have fun.
My wife, child and myself received C19 on the last few days of our cruise in September this year. Although the fever and cough were not too bad for me the feeling drained and unenthusiastic about anything lasted months. Only just getting back into the railway now. As far as I know, wearing masks (unless very high quality) does not do anything to reduce help your risks of catching C-19, it purely reduces your chances, of passing it onto someone else when you breathe out, cough, or sneeze.
Glad to hear you are all a lot better. The truth is that Covid has never gone away but our vaccines have helped us stay well but they need updating as time goes on just like the annual flue vaccine! Many thanks for showing us your enjoyable videos over the past year. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! Cheers Malcolm
Thank you so much Malcolm. At least we are all okay again. Loads more fun next year ill try to make it better than this year lot to look forward to . So a very Merry Christmas Malcolm and family
Hi Al i am sorry to hear about you and your family suffering with Covid.Sadly on December the 4th my Father in law passed away due to Covid. Then all five of us who spent a week in Hospital caring and being with him caught it to.We are all clear now,but some of us are still coughing and spluttering away.My tip is to get plenty of fresh air into the lungs.I will watch the update and enjoy it mate.Happy Christmas and a great New Year to you and your family.
Hi Allan, glad you’re feeling better now and hope the family is as well that must be the 4th time you’ve had Covid Charlie made some good points last night I insulated my loft with 75 mm celotex carpet and a radiator two velux windows great all year round looking forward to seeing your Xmas loco and bridge update 90%of my stock has elite hunt couplings cheers Al
Top man on the Elite couplings . As for the 90% humidity i got to say i have never had trouble with card kits or any of my Locos . i think heat does more damage. But if your well insulated no worries . Yes the bridges are going to be fun as there`s 3 of them .i will do my best to film it all as best as i can .. And thank you so much for watching and the family and i are all 100% again So a very merry Christmas to you and your family ... Have fun
Its good to see and hear that you are on the mend Lord Al and your family, love the added details and the news on the replacement bridges is there going to be a video if so are you going to call it `A Bridge too far` lol. I also follow Charlie and I think that you and him have a wonderful sense of humour and always bring an interest to our delightful hobby and I thank you for that. Please stay safe and I would like to wish you and your family a wonderful and peaceful Christmas (hope you get all what's on your wish list) and a very Happy New Year. Regards Barry. PS I sorted my wish list brought and paid for by me and wrapped by the wife, he he..🎅🍺
Hiya Barry.. Yes all the family and i are all well again. As for the Bridges that well be right one to far as there's going to be 3 bridges . got to paint them and fit them .so that should be a shed load of fun to start with plus am going to try and film the lot .Just for you guys and see what balls up i get into...lol..Full on comedy hour lol.. So thank you so much for watching and enjoying the fun a long the way . So very Merry Christmas to you Barry and your family.
Lord Al! Good to hear your feeling better and great to see you back in the shed. Looking forward to seeing your new bridge project your an inspiration to the modeling community. Merry Christmas Lord Al and Lady Babs.
Hi ya Allan and Barbara. So please to see you back buddy. Hope that horrible covid has gone. Regularly got in the 70% humidity in the cabin. No damage I can see as yet. Loving the engine shed and the loco engine re-build. Bridge is going to be a great project. Stay safe buddy. DELPH JUNCTION (Pete)
Hopefully all the family will be over the covid before Christmas Al. You're getting to be like Susannah with all the changes all the time, oh well you're having fun and that's what the hobby is all about. Have a great Christmas and New Year Lord Al, I'm waiting for Boxing Day when everything in my local hobby shop is 20% off.
That sounds great 20% off ..lol thank you so much for watching the layout is still evolving and updating Just keeps it all interesting. Merry Christmas
Hi Allan, Covid seems to like your family I would say but glad your well and hope all the rest are ok. You will be busy it would seem so enjoy your Christmas & New Year and will watch out for the Bridges rebuild next year. I wish you all a Happy Christmas as well as a great and productive New Year and as I think I may because of a health problem myself not be able to do a video before the New Year wish any YT'ers who read this greetings of the season and hope to return sorted. Cheers Robert.

Any way it should be fun this new bridge build there`s 3 of them..lol.. Dont for get if you need a chat am all ways here . So very Merry Christmas Robert..
It's great to hear you're feeling better. Hopefully, so is the rest of your family. Just watched this with my grandson, and he's decided to subscribe. He's now filming his Christmas video for his Dylington Model Railway channel. He's doing a great job with his videos, give them a watch, and see what you think. We've turned off the comments to protect him due to his age, but if you decide to have a look, you could always pass a comment on here to me about them. Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.....cheers James 🙂👍
@Lord-Allan-in-the-shed thank you for your comments and for subscribing. I'm afraid I have no say in the filming or choice of music, I just keep helping and encouraging him. He's planning to build a 009 layout in the near future, and I'm sure he'll be posting updates of that on his channel .... cheers James 🙂👍
Sorry to hear you & the family have been through the works Allan, but glad you're feeling better. A nice array of updates, improvements and upcoming projects to the layout too. Merry Christmas, Ben.
I know what you're saying about COVID. I've been in the " I don't give a hoot" attitude for over 2 yrs. . Every once and a while I get an ambitious idea and after I get started I have a problem with this or that and I stop working again. If you push through it it helps. It does help if you have a friend to work with you do better. I don't have that anymore. I'm glad to see you up and about , your humor is a great help for this old guy. I just watched Charlie's video and yes, you are correct , he is an inspiration. There are times I wish I lived in the UK and had you two as friends.
We all need that little push from time to time. That`s what keeps the brain cells working.Any way more fun to come in the new year no worries on that..So a very merry christmas Bob ..And thank you so much for watching.
Hello, m'lord. Joyce and I are very sorry to hear the C-Flu got your entire family! Especially, as some had very rough cases. This variant definitely seems to wear you out in ways the body does not get- mentally hard. Anyhow, it is great to hear you have some new plans and have a new motivation. (Gives me an excuse to intrude upon your life again someday and see how it changes from my last visit. lol) I do love bridges (seeing them, not driving on them), so that sounds particular fun.
We would love to have you back here Anthony /Joyce.Now we know each other a bit better it will be more relaxed for us all. Yes the family are all well again waiting for Christmas day. I know the grandson is getting things i can play with and be a big Kid again..lol..As am sure you will be this year.. Thank you so much for watching and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Glad you are recovering and it's a shame about the effects of weather on your layout. I got some heat damage in the summer on my track. I am just about to start a new project. Just a ten foot up and down shelf type effort for filming purposes. Just scenery.
Thank you for watching Michael and we are all fit well again . As for the weather in side the shed lol. no worries it`s just interesting to know but had no real ill effects with the cold more of the heat like you said .Your new project sounds good it should work out well for you filming. So Michael you have a very Merry Christmas and lots of fun .
Sorry to hear you haven't been well Al, but it's great to have you back on the telly again. A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you. Cheers 🍷 🍻 🎄🎅🚂 best regards Graham
Great to see your back and you feeling a lot better. Look forward to seeing the bridge project. Hope you and the family have a fantastic Christmas Andy
Good to hear youve all recovered from the dreaded big C. It's unreal how it makes us sleep and sleep, taking all motivation and enthusiam for anything. The bridge project sounds intriguing, be good to see how you ho about this. Merry Christmas all of you and take care.
I`ve just been down my shed to set up for testing the new Loco`s and it was 8.5c and 99% humidity. Good to see you and the family are on the mend. new bridge sounds good
Thank you Clive for watching and it`s nuts when you think about it 99% had mine at 95% but a small heater on soon brings it down again. Thankfully. Yes all well again now Clive so a very Merry Christmas to you and family Clive ...Have fun..
Hi Al, sorry to hear about the covid and losing your mojo but glad your back. Charlie is a true inspiration to lots of modellers. Surprising to see your humidity levels might have to check mine! I like the look of the hunts couplings, have you tried the hornby vacuum pipe magnetic couplings? and is there a way of automatically uncoupling the hunt couplings? sorry for all the questions, I am just looking for an alternative to the normal d couplings but I have some tight radius 2 curves, cheers and thanks for sharing your experiences. Good luck with replacing the bridge, will be interested to see how it develops. cheers Mark
Hiya Mark.. as to your ?s Yes got the mojo back and the family and i are all fully fit again.. As for the humidity yes it`s high but dry .i have no issues with any locos or electronics in the shed and they are all there all year around., . As for the Hunts couplings up to now there`s no way found to uncouple the magnets . if you can find a way you will be quids in . lol.. You will love the new bridges and you won`t have long to wait to see them . there will be 3 end to end . So thank you so much for watching and a very Merry Christmas to you Mark and family.. Have fun on xmas day regards Lord Al of the shed.
Yes we are 100%againg thank you as for stuart i have no idea what's happened only found out my self tonight. i will ask about . So thank you for watching and a very Merry Christmas to you and family.
Very good video, Alan. I hope you have fully recovered from the dreaded covid. Take care, mate, and Merry Christmas to you and your family if I don't see before.😊
Great to see you back in good health Alan mate, super excited to watch your progress with what you have planned for the back of the layout as always another awesome and enjoyable video can’t wait to see what new loco you have got for Xmas, and as you mentioned stuart from st Mary’s church, do you know what’s happened to him as a few weeks ago I noticed his channel has disappeared from TH-cam, like yourself I was a big fan of watching Stuart’s channel, and it’s shocking that his channel has completely gone which is totally out of character from him as like us all he was completely mad about trains and always filming his amazing running sessions and to completely disappear is really strange, I hope he is ok, kind regards Danny 👍🏻👀👋🏻🤩
WOW ..Did not notice he`s gone as i know he get`s busy this time of year . Wow am in shock over that ..ill ask around and see if any one knows . Any way thank you so much for watching and a Very Merry Christmas to you Danny and family.
Al its called brain fog! Typical of Covid!! Good to see you back!
FOG ..OH Now i understand lol i thought it was just old age.. Merry Christmas.
I’m so pleased Al, that my latest video is giving you a bit of a kick up the backside to regain your Mojo. We all struggle at times mate so please don’t believe it’s just you. Hopefully we can share a beer sometime. Have a wonderful Christmas mate and stay safe. Regards Charlie

Thank you Brian yes the sponges work great .Always the simple things . Thank you for watching and Very Merry Christmas.
I'll never be able to afford my own layout, that's why I watch you guys on TH-cam 👍
There are always options. I know someone who has a layout on a 6 ft x 2 ft board
No worries as long as you enjoy our fun you are there enjoying the fun with us.. Merry Christmas Mark.
@@lord-al-2024 and merry Christmas to you too!
Al, your body knows what to do for the best... it switches off and you just have to go with it. Now... enjoy your Christmas, find a suitable tipple and gently embalm yourself... CHEERS atb, Andy.
Cheers and thank you so much Andy You have a great Christmas all the best to you and family.

Great to see you back Lord Al, and glad to hear that both you and your family have recovered from the dreaded Covid.
Happy Christmas!
Thank you so much Andy and 100% ok again all of us .Thank you for watching and a Very Merry Christmas.
Hi Allan, glad you are better & your family are recovering, all the best for Christmas & New Year. TONY [ GRIFFIN STATION ].
Thank you Tony yes all good again here ..So very Merry Christmas Tony and your family.
Get yourself a dehumidifier and leave on auto all the time just seal the door gaps and window first. Also marine ply board for the boards could help possible i'd say used car doorcard glue, but it needs a think beed so shim same areas to account for it, then the boards can float and not bow.
Thank you so much for watching and the comments but it would be easier to build a new shed and cheaper in the long run...lol..
Good to see you back, your layout is always fascinating ! thanks mate.
Thank you so much for watching more fun and updates next year ..Merry Christmas. Roger

Top man on the Elite couplings . As for the 90% humidity i got to say i have never had trouble with card kits or any of my Locos . i think heat does more damage. But if your well insulated no worries .

Thank you so much for subbing and thank you for watching. ill take a look no worries .So Merry Christmas James.
Just watched your last film .that was very good and super filming..Not sure on the music but the rest was superb.Well done that grandson.
Thank you Ben . Merry Christmas.
Sorry you haven’t been too well Ali! Hope you feel better soon!!!😮
Yes all good again thank you ..Merry Christmas
Thank you so much for watching and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
great to see you back buddy and thanks for the video
Thank you much for watching ..A very Merry Christmas to you grace and Rob and the family.
@@lord-al-2024 You too

Hope you and the family have a fantastic Christmas
Andy
Thank you so much Andy and Very Merry Christmas to you and family.
Darrenbury Central HI could we please see a track plan. Great show Tatty bi
if you watch my last video it`s shows the updates and a tour of the layout. The basics is 4 loops in a 20 foot by 10 foot .
Good to hear youve all recovered from the dreaded big C. It's unreal how it makes us sleep and sleep, taking all motivation and enthusiam for anything.
The bridge project sounds intriguing, be good to see how you ho about this. Merry Christmas all of you and take care.
Thank you John.. Merry Christmas . ill send a photo over on messenger.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Glad to see your back and if your going to Llandudno on the 27th hope to see you there

Good luck Allan with your projects , love your vids mate ..happy Christmas to you and yours
Thank you so much and thank you for watching ..More fun to come in the new year . so a Very Merry Christmas to you and family.
Good to see you are on the mend. I hope you have a good Christmas. Stuart from St. Marys layout seems to have vanished, do you know if he is ok ?
Yes we are 100%againg thank you as for stuart i have no idea what's happened only found out my self tonight. i will ask about .
So thank you for watching and a very Merry Christmas to you and family.
Very good video, Alan. I hope you have fully recovered from the dreaded covid. Take care, mate, and Merry Christmas to you and your family if I don't see before.😊
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas.
I don't now if you saw that no 4 wagon first wheel on iron ore tippler is stuck
Well spotted that man.. Yes i have sorted that small issue out ..simple fix .Thank you for watching and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.@@lord-al-2024
